Well, to answer the main question, and the one above in the same vein, everything falls under the heading of just one word. Sex.

 

Humans are hardwired for it, they think about it often, they develop rituals for it (cosmetics, clothing, etc...), and some often go to extremes to 'trip their trigger' when they feel the need for it (fetishes). No matter what excuse a human being 'fools themselves' with, the issue will always be the same. Sex, whether it be for mating, pleasure, or security, will always be the one thing that lurks in the back of everyone's mind. And, since almost all gain pleasure from it, humans will try whatever it takes to experience it, unless emotionally scarred from incidents that make sex frightening or (for some) painful.

 

Now this brings up another thought; If sex was always a painful act instead of being pleasurable, humans would be more inclined to NOT think about it, would try to avoid it, and sex would only be considered as a duty to procreate (or a punishment). There would be no 'sex sells' ads, no porn, no 'attractants' (cosmetics or beauty aids), or no fetishes for pleasure of any kind. And, of course, no Lovers Lab.

 

In fact, species survival would stay as purely instinctive behavior. Meaning that, quite frankly, there would be far less humans in this world today, and that's ONLY if the human race didn't become extinct when their brains couldn't evolve to survive their environment on just instinct alone.
