The main factor being the companion I will spend most of the game with. Which character (Piper or Curie) is a more preferable romantic companion to you and why?

Best way to decide it to get a mod that can allow you to have them both as a follower. When you progress to a certain point you will make a decision on your own, who you want to stay and who is more annoying
greyscale Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Curie is by far my favorite companion in Fallout 4, mainly because the stuff she says is cute and I don't get annoyed at some of the repeating dialog she have, well maybe with the exception about her bitching about how dirty some places are xD The only problem I have with Curie is that she is impossible to have around you if you just want to be an asshole to people in the Commonwealth, which is why I actually prefer having Dogmeat with me since all he does is bark and whimp and never judge what you say to people. Curie is also nice to have romantic relationships with since it's something she knows nothing about, so it's like a new experience for her which makes it adorable. I personally haven't travled much with Piper, since I never really liked her character, but maybe I should do that in my next playthrough

The only thing is, since she's a synth, if she's with you when one of your settlements is being attacked by synths, she will go permanently hostile if you fire on them. IDK if this has ever been addressed in a patch but for this reason, I find myself mostly with Cait. Strangely enough, killing synths doesn't seem to bother Nick.

About those synth attacks and her turning hostile...never happened to me...first time I heard of this actually.

At some point in the game, your settlements will start being infiltrated by settlers that are actually synths. If the other settlers or your defenses "discover" them, they'll become hostile and you'll get one of the generic "help defend settlement" messages. If Curie's with you and you fire on the hostile synth settler, she will leave you with the "Curie hated that" message. You'll then have to choose where to send her (like you dismissed her) but she won't go. She'll actually start shooting you and since she's marked essential, you'll be stuck. The only way out is to use the console or to reload a previous save and dismiss her before you defend the settlement.
Karna5 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Those of you concerned with getting followers angry at you could use the "No Negative Affinity" mod from Nexus. It works very well. I've never had Curie get angry with me fighting synth settlers, but I've had that mod for several play throughs.

I don't like much her general attitude in fact.

Shadow_Hazard Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Everything from her dumb naivety, her jailbait tomboy appearance, and her excruciatingly strong accent, all make me want to smash Curie's synthetic head against a wall. While everything about Piper; especially her genuinely caring attitude and the way she interacts with people around the Commonwealth, her voice, and the sweet comments she makes about the SS if romancing, make her just all-round generally pleasant to have as a companion. Vote Piper.
