Where is the line between Adult and Non-Adult?

Let us say we are talking about a "paintings" mod for Fallout 4.   A picture showing Michelangelo's "David" in spite of the nudity would be "Non-adult" I would think.  So does the 'nudity' tag push the mod into adult simply upon a shortfall of artistic merit?  What about fantasy art showing women in revealing costumes?  Where is the line?  Is "Lover's Lab" strict about these boundaries?

LL is not extremely rigid.

If there is sex, then goes in Adult category for sure.

A sexy bikini? Probably can stay in non-adult category.

Remember that is possible to move from one section to the other in case of mistakes.

Talking of the concern about showing nudity to minors in games which start with beheading or shooting people up in post nuke apocalypse environment :D Putting anything behind an age-gate is a two-edged sword. It might work OR create abnormal curiosity which might lead to some actual problems.

LL started out as a modding site for sex and nude mods. As such there was no distinction between adult and non-adult mods. As LL grew, more mods appeared, which included mods that weren't sex or nude mods. Hence the distinction between adult and non-adult. That doesn't mean that the non-adult section is SFW or suitable for minors, since the premise of the site is still the same, albeit the focus has shifted towards general modding a moderate amount in the last couple of years.

As a rule of thumb, if a mod has nudity and sex in it, it belongs in the adult section, if it does not you can put it in the non-adult section.

To reiterate, that doesn't mean that the non-adult section is a sanitized SFW section. It makes it easier to categorize mods.

That line is in a permanent state of flux that follows the zeitgeist, which means that a trend toward prudery or liberality is a slow moving process over at least one generation. This generation moves toward more prudery and more violence and that has a huge impact on games and their hosted modifications on websites that follow the zeitgeist. However, I've learned by observation that only dead fish swim with the stream...

Sorry to abuse this thread for personal purposes, but is this word to be regarded as normally as "imported" words like rucksack, kindergarden e.g.? Just curious. Thanks for the enlightenment in advance.

(and sorry for the thread piracy, dear TS)

It's the original philosophical term that became canon by means of whatever, literally translated 'time spirit', and that's the difference to terms like kindergarten / playschool or rucksack / backpack that just refer back to German immigrants...

Not only nudity, also any topic that is sensitive to a public, violence, blood, if it is explicitly oriented for that, should go in the adult section, a pair of breasts do not think there is so much problem...

Its probably too late to comment on this but, i think lines are to keep cars from playing pile up on the road other wise imagination should not be limited except through skill if someone has the talent to make something, and since no one can be physically harmed its all good . after all its only a game if you don't like the product made by someone else you have every right to make your own version. or just no use it.

My rule of thumb is:

  • if it's a common thing in real life (for example, a road), it's non-adult.

For things which are rare in real life, however:

  • if it would be illegal in real life (like, for example, killing someone), it's non-adult.
  • If it would be legal in real life (like, for example, fucking someone), it's adult.

The rules are not really sane, but they are ways of pushing back against issues of popularity and annoyance.

This 20 ft wide painting/blown up image slapped me in the face in Paris. Musee' D'Orsay, right at the front door.

Shortfall of artistic merit? Gosh, we have no artistic merits whatsoever, what we produce goes directly to the dung heap of the World Cultural Heritage. So, what's commonly understood as adult or not is of interest only for those contemporaries that haven't yet reached adultery in the eyes of adults and especially those adults that have (or had) underage children. I assume that most of us are indeed 18+ and thus dismissed for not involved. Moreover, next to me only very few members came out as parents and thus care about a few things, or else. So, what the fuck is this thread actually good for, hmm?
