How to access the Steam Beta

Log into Steam.

Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library.

Select Settings.

Select Betas.

A drop down menu will appear. Select Beta.

Select OK.

Wait a few minutes and Fallout 4 should update.

When done, Fallout 4 should appear as Fallout 4 [beta] in your Library.

So, we have all the beta patch live, even if this actual beta patch is available in the beta channel (you can verify by yourself) and even if, like myself, you haven't opted for the beta versions. F*cking morons seriously ...

My game was just updated and no updated F4SE right now, so no game for me tonight ...

What mods do you use that require F4SE?

Actually ? Looksmenu, maybe Def_UI (only some parts I think), the ability of Customcontrolmap added by F4SE (and really necessary if you don't have an american keyboard, even in GB they are f*cued on this ^^). And I don't konow why, but Full Dialog interface don't work right now.

For the last patch, it may be a true live patch in fact. Someone had told me that the beta patch had the 1.7.7 revision, when the live patch has the 1.7.9 revision. I'm a bit sceptical though because of the ridiculous numbers of days of public beta, more than insuffisant to made a real "beta test" (IMO).

I was able to run my game when bypassing the F4SE, but must set my fallout4prefs.ini on readonly mode.

Yup... just got bit by the 1.7.9 update which updated automatically even though I have autoupdates off... Beth is killing me.
Oh well, if anyone needs, I'll be in Skyrim where the girls are hot, the guys are hung and you can actually do something about that fact.

Damn. I read this earlier, but then I turned on my PC and Steam started up while I was off doing other things. By the time I remembered it was too late.

I did actually make a backup of my 1.6.9 exe a few days ago, but I'm not sure I want to risk it, in case using newer data files with the old exe could somehow corrupt my save (not sure how that'd happen but no need to risk it when i can just wait a day or two).

At least this update looks to make some minor improvements to mod implementation, though I'm willing to bet it also broke stuff besides F4SE. Sigh.

going off topic real quick how fast does the f4se get updated?

Is really fast, i never got stuck without the game because f4se, this is the first time.

I think the update should be a little more complex this time.

I've just found this : https://www.speedrun.com/Fallout_4/thread/fvo80 (downgrade patches), not sure to want to test this though ...

The true fact is : the F4SE team didn't have the time (less than two days in beta status) to work on the update.

If this is another accident, it wouldn't surprise me. Nothing has gone right with FO4 since it launched. I think the gods of gaming are trying to say that this game will wind up as another FO3: something best left forgotten in that corner of our closets/store rooms where games go to die.

I ended up getting the update lastnight aussie time. its been 12 hours without FO4.. lol..

Its an addiction I tell you, its wanting to find all the bugs that Bethesda have in their game and then cursing and swearing till you realize you lost something that you worked so hard to get .. and then find out its a bug on wiki and you try all these methods that might work once or twice, though the one time you plan to use it, it never works.. Re like a gun ect... LOL

Its an addiction I tell you... lol

I actually like FO4 because it reminded me of FO3 which i believe had a good 3D graphical setup and when compared to FONV .. you can really tell the differences in the modeling and structuring of the game...

I also think that when fallout runs out of US states to do, they should start making games on australia and NZ and England ect... lol..

Yes its an addiction I tell you and there is no cure except from boredom...lol

Just play Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Mass Effect until F4SE is updated. It's all the same thing, right?

Well thats impossible, because i don't own them.. lol

Knowing steam at its best though, when you get one game to work, another decided not to work, like Assassins Creed II .. lol

Steam always knows how to make you go stir crazy... lol

Exactly : the 0.21 version of F4Se is up (frankly, those guys are incredible !).

Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)

by Ian Patterson, Stephen Abel, and Purple Lunchbox (ianpatt, behippo, and plb)

Fallout 4 runtime 1.7.9 - Current build: 0.2.1 7z archive (readme, whatsnew, latest forum thread)

Having trouble extracting the archive? Download 7-zip. DO NOT USE ANYTHING FROM THE WINDOWS APP STORE.

This is an early release with very little functionality, however some of this functionality may be useful. There is no technical support for this release.

Compatibility:

F4SE will support the latest version of Fallout available on Steam, and _only_ this version. When a new version is released, we'll update as soon as possible: please be patient. Don't email asking when the update will be ready; we already know the new version is out. The editor does not currently need modification, however when available a custom set of .pex/psc files must be installed.

0.2.1 is compatible with runtime 1.7.9. You can ignore any part of the version number after those components; they're not relevant for compatibility purposes.

New version of F4SE up : 0.2.2 (to correct a problem of save loading). Looksmenu is updated too and require this precise version.
