This is so sad to see... I know people and lost faith in humanity a long time ago but I'm still suprised by how stupid they can be, I must say I didn't see it coming, not to this extent anyway.

They even bring PC and console war to the topic... typically the dumb thing that only kids are arguing about...

Oh, so F4SE has DRM, serious? Here I thought it was all a joke. I thought it was just console gamers being ignorant as they are. I was laughing when I read that.

As for the death threats, I wouldn't take that serious from a bunch of people pouting and exceeding demands from mod authors. They are just pissed off because Bethesda didn't come out with honesty and said console gamers are not getting CK, which I thought they were. I thought they were getting a lesser version. Now they are turning around and taking their frustration on modders on pc and demanding all these mods because they can't make them. Bethesda dug their own grave. And I can't blame console gamers in a way because Bethesda should of been completely honest. However, from a business stand point of view, if they would of confessed this, they probably would of dropped in sales. So they decided to go with the back stab.

Just for fun, if you're a modder and happen to live in the US, report any death threats to the police. A lot of them will bounce with a "sorry, can't take that serious", but just a handful need to slip through and result in official investigation. Police will require IP and user records of the threateners, Bethesda will not want that shit (lots of paperwork, being called as witnesses, expensive lawyers, etc.), and these kids will find their Beth accounts banned.

It just takes a handful of reports to result in investigation to get the fun started.

Ooh, unexpected drama! ^_^

Well, some was expected, but that's a "paid modding" equivalent Cat5 shit tornado :o

And the IKidYou.Not forusm are full of assholes, i don't understand how that could happen when the old official forums were so well run.

So, once original forums go down, i'll be sticking here for BGS related mods and information.

I think that's part of the problem, the old forums were well moderated and simple to use. The confusing layout and the huge amount of spammy messages sure isn't helping. Too bad, I was perfectly fine with mods coming to consoles even though we had to wait for the CK, but what is happening is simply ridiculous. For this deal to work Bethesda would have to step in directly, it's clear that modders simply can't deal with this by themselves.

Let's see maybe things will clear up in a few days, otherwise Bethesda might have to call it off.

I wouldn't say unexpected. The moment I heard what Bethesda was planning, and the fanboys gushing over how awesome it was going to be, I knew they had unrealistic expectations of basically getting a steady stream of free dlc, or being able to create their own mods.. I dunno, ala Forge or SnapMap. I kept trying to talk some reason into people... letting them know exactly what was involved in PC modding, both creating and using them, and how it wouldn't be viable on consoles aside from the most simplistic of simple edits and additions. Both in terms of console capabilities and in resolving conflicts. Even deceptively simple mods, such as "Light Up and Smoke those Cigarettes" required script extenders. I tried to explain how vital tools like NVSE/FOSE, Mod Organizer/FOMM, FNVEdit, etc are.

Those conversations didn't end well. They had faith in Todd that it would "Just Work" (despite even Todd saying it probably wouldn't in many cases, and they wouldn't be providing tech support for mods - they were on their own).

Their hype and entitlement is crashing upon the rocks of reality, and it's going to get much worse before it gets any better.

Who knows, Sony and MS might be taking a look at what's going on and say decide to just opt out. They may be putting pressure on bethesda to get this whole situated.

They are just stupid kids making idle threats. whats hilarious is that they think they can whine and get what they want.

There is no 'PC vs Console' war. As far as I know, the majority of PC users do not give a single fuck what platform you use. I'm not going to say all PC users, some do indeed disapprove of console users. The whole 'PC Master Race/Console Peasantry' thing is meant to be used as a joke said by games reviewer Yahtzee during his review of Witcher (In which he's actually criticising the game for being too complex so it only caters for PC gamers).

Most PC gamers don't actually care if you use a PC or an Xbox or a PS4 or a Sega Saturn or a fucking ZX Spectrum. From what I've seen, the console gamers are the ones being angry at PC gamers, accusing us of being elitist and outright insulting us despite a lot of people being calm and trying to explain to them why the CK can't come to console or why a lot of mods are limited to PC.

It's very much a "One Sided War"  Most PC users don't care, except for the fact that PC is getting less and less attention with games.  Most games are not getting store releases, and are only getting released online.  Which in itself isn't terrible.  Less waiting in long lines for us, fighting over low supply with high demand, etc.

I think there is some jealousy on both sides, but a lot of Console users take it too far.

I have an XBox 360 and an XBox One.  I spend most of my time on my PC tho.  I haven't really liked a controller since SNES.  haha

As for the CK, I seriously doubt it is even feasible to have it on console.  I mean really.  How would that even work?  Yeah I suppose you could get a keypad attachment for the controller or something, but still...Those things are awkward.  I really don't think they were meant to be development platforms

A lot of console users are, literally, children. Expectations of emotional maturity

from children are unrealistic. I find the whole thing pretty amusing, aside from the

'fallout' possibly having a deleterious effect on the PC modding community, due to

Bethesda freaking out, or modders getting pissed off and leaving. I would imagine

their disclaimers protect them from a class-action lawsuit from angry console users.

The issue is that these console clowns are going to Nexus and demanding the mod authors to port their mods to console.

Can you show a few, please?

Well, there's one thing PC gamers do complain about, and that is games having their control system "streamlined", which, to a PC gamer, means as much as "simplified". Setups with 20 hotkeys for different abilities are a thing of the past, as such control schemes won't work on controllers, which simply do not have enough buttons to handle that.

This streamlining of controls results in less abilities, as well as the pace of the game toning down to allow for changing abilities on the fly. Other hotkeys get merged, with the game picking the appropriate ablity to use, and some abilities even get merged into a single new ability.

So, the complaint PC gamers most often have about consoles, is that consoles cause games to dumb down. Even Fallout saw that complaint: lack of assignable hotkeys, simplified perks, the conversation wheel, the implementation of VATS. Those characteristics didn't come out of nowhere. They're more or less required to have fluent gameplay on a console. I never really checked, but do consoles also have aim-assist in Fallout for their free-aim combat, or does their combat nearly entirely rely on VATS?

There's a size limit on Console Mods?  Is it just Xbox or is it PS4 too?

I am poking around the Nexus Forums...Not seeing any demands yet, just requests...There could be some on specific mod entries on the site tho.

I don't know which. I'm only going by multiple posts I have read in different topics on bethesda.net forums.

There's this though.

All I know is that if *I* made mods...it would be *MY* decision to port mods ultimately.  If the console kiddies didn't like it...they can go fornicate with their controllers for all I care.

Porting to consoles introduces a whole host of challenges that I am sure I don't even know all of.  I am sure there would be legality issues between Microsatan and Sony with assets in some cases, but for the most part...I would say if I made mods, they would stay on PC unless *I* chose to put them on Console.  If someone wanted to port them, they would have to ask my permission...However I am sure that only works on paper.  People get away with stealing content all the time. :(

You said it, Goubo, kids. Most of the people whining and threatening are just that, children. That's why I like this site so much, we're all adults here.

The whole "work and responsibility" thing is a bit of downer, I agree. On the other hand, I can do things like have ice cream and rye whisky for breakfast.

Ok.  There are definite upsides...I admit.

I've been known to indulge in an Ice Cream Sunday; that means that on a Sunday I eat nothing

but Ice cream for the entire day. Saturday is beer for breakfast day; sipping a beer in the morning

just sort of eases you into the day, and then some more around 11 AM keeps it rolling, followed

by a sensible and nutritious dinner, of course.

I'm not going to support consoles at all when I mod; why should I saddle myself with dealing with

byzantine requirements and detuning content to work with someone else's handicapped hardware.
