Hi,

I'd like to get some information about DLCs from you - so that I and other modders can get an idea of how feasible it is to make a DLC a requirement.

In my example, I'm thinking of making Wasteland Workshop a Requirement for F4SS to implement all the nice arena mechanics - but then again I would not want to exclude a large audience.

So, what DLCs do you own?

(Also, if there already is a poll like this, I couldn't find it. Feel free to close the topic and point me in the right direction.

I voted base game/no. That "no" may well change to "yes" once all the DLC are out and they've dispensed with this season pass nonsense.

Then again, I'm unlikely to play much before that point, so that makes my vote somewhat moot, I suppose.

I think you should add another option in the first question, that is "Season Pass".

With that you will get all DLCs, why bother on single ones?

Done, thanks for the hint.

So, if "Season Pass" would be the answer for the first question, "Yes, always" would be the linked result in the second one, because Season Pass means you already bought all DLCs technically, doesn't it?

Depends. Bethesda hinted that they might make more DLCs, but noone knows whether they'll follow up on that.

It's also called a Season Pass, which suggests a temporal nature. What if they release another DLC in June next year? Whether that would fall under the seasons pass isn't clear, and the little they said about it doesn't specifically go into that detail either.

This is not sure.

According to the description of the "Season Pass" when it was out as pre-order, it was including all DLCs out for one year after you buy the game.

This was changes quickly to "one year after the game is released" (because some people pre-ordered the game 6 months before the release.)

Then, when the price of the season pass, passed from 29.99 to 39.99, the mention to "one year" was gone.

Now, that the price is (over-pricerly priced price) 49.99, I have some doubts about it.

It may happen that it will become the "legendary edition", or not.

I am not sure.

You know you have a question with Season pass and another one with will you buy. If someone has a season pass... then they get all the content then they actually bought all the DLCs and such and wouldn't be "buying" them as they come out. Maybe I am overthinking this. Anyway I tried but didn't answer the second question. I have the season pass. If I don't make sense, it is likely my cold medicine.

We've always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30. Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you'll get it all with the Season Pass.

Thanks again to all of you! The support and excitement you’ve given Fallout 4 has blown us away. It’s energized us even more to do everything we can in these final months to make this our best game yet. We absolutely can't wait for you to play it, and share your adventures with us and each other.

You get everything. Nothing has changed and it is on Bethesda's site. The only thing that changed is the pricing.

They won't back peddle on this fact. Too much info is out there that they offered the content for a fixed price and for all the content. They might do some dick things.. (like give subpar DLCs and perhaps a dog armor ;) for the DLCs but they will give all the DLCs. for Season Pass owners).

Alright, I changed "Yes, always!" to "Yes, always! / I have a season pass, told you already!!!".

That should make everyone happy! Also I don't think there is need to be anal about it - this isn't a government survey, I only want to get some sort of overview over the popularity of the DLCs and if using them as Requirements is a good or bad idea!

Thanks for participating everyone!

Not trying to be anal (at least not on my part can't talk for the other posters) just I was confused as to the questions and didn't know what to post for the second question as I wasn't buying them (had them already once they were released as I had the pass). As I stated I am on loads of cold medicine so I might not be making too much sense. I just want to be clear.. I meant no offense I was just confused.

As for using them as a requirement I believe they are a bad idea at least for now unless you need the assets for your planned mod. I believe this is the case for any mod created for any of the Bethesda games. If you need them for your plan... then it is up to the user to either get it or move on. I don't for one believe an author should change their plans and remove content from an mod because some members don't have or want to get the DLCs.

Well, if I was working on a "normal" mod - I'd agree. But since I'm trying to get a framework for slavery put together that other people can use in their creations, setting the requirements for the framework has huge impact.

Thanks again for your feedback - I'll stick with only using the base game for now and later will release a separate .esp for WW arena support.

Ah... now I see. I was wondering why you would ask that question. :). Now it makes sense (duh I see your signature). got to lay off the cold medicine. :)

On a personal note I believe in the author taking the mod where they desire. I have never had a problem with the path or direction or even requirements of any author here and what they decided to do with their mods. If I didn't have some requirement (like a DLC) and wanted to use that mod ... I'd just get the DLC ;). It is just that simple.

On a second note seeing your spoiler and combination of the WW arena support...  one can only imagine the troubles one's toon could get into... :)

Nah, cold medicine is good for you. Unless you don't have a cold.

Yeah, I thought about slave arenas using Wasteland Workshop, but since a quarter of the people don't have it, I'll separate that and do it sometime later.

And who knows, maybe other modders can use the information as well! :)

Always best to wait till the thing is in final edition and it's 75% discount. Otherwise, meh. Nope. Nope. and nope. This season pass thing. Seems like it'll be a new trend for Bethesda. Pretty sure TES6 will have a season pass. I guess on the bright side for Bethesda, they can assure they get their money in advance. No way I could buy something I have no idea what I'm paying for. I might as well throw my money on the street.

Fun fact: I've bought the Season Pass shortly before they raised its price, so AFTER the release of FO4. I did it because I basically like the game, but I had the feeling of it being kind of "unfinished", as it lacked a little bit. So I bought the Season Pass in the hope that the DLCs will bring this "something" that's not yet there.

And what should I say? Traps for settlements, capturing and train animals, building your own robots? Even though these things are not "real" DLCs, they add quite a lot of the "something" I've missed. And as there will come more like that, for me the Season Pass was a good choice. Now, it would be too expensive though.

And NO, I won't blame Bethesda in particular because of that politics of buying the finishers, therefor the whole gaming industry should be blamed.

The trouble is. you say something like that, what Bethesda hears is "THANK YOU SIR! MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?"

I agree it felt very unfinished. I will not blame anyone that is angry with the offerings of the current 2 DLCs. as you state they aren't "real" DLCs. They really should have been added to the original game to flesh it out more. DLCs would in my opinion offer new lands and weapons and such to explore. Not new game play mechanics like adding robots or cages. Cool as they are ... they really should have been part of the original game. Far Point Harbor would be the first actual DLC released.

However you are correct in that it is the trend for current gaming industry to release a game and "add content" to it like horse armor and cages and robotic parts.

The whole add content started with New Vegas and Courier's Stash and Gun Runner's Arsenal. Then Skyrim's Heartfire. And now Fallout 4's Automaton and Wasteland Workshop.

At least Fallout 3 had 5 actual DLCs.

Have a look to the "DLC"s for DoA5LR (Dead or Alive 5 Last Round.)

Check the contents and the prices. And then stop blaming Bethesda...

o.k 70$ for simple perso skin. CPU give the best argument. For me, the rule are simple. one $ for one hour of game. fallout cost me 120$ for 450 hour of fun.

I will always require all official updates and dlc whenever I upload a mod file for Fallout 4. Simple to explain and more assets for me to use. Plus I'd like to do whatever I can, as little as it might be, to support the team which has provided me with so much entertainment.
