Guest Vendayn Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I personally really like the way the vampire starts in Alternate Start. Granted, I like the really hardcore/survivalist kind of stuff. It wasn't that bad. Just have to head to a settlement or kill a bandit or something. I think if there was a toggle, it would be too easy to abuse. And it would be annoying if the mod just activated by reading a book before it started. Frostfell did that, and it made the shipwreck start (and a few others) not nearly as fun in Live Another Life. But I can't speak for everyone, just myself. I personally didn't find the hunger bad, and was easy to deal with. It is really easy if you seduce someone, and have a "supply". Just don't keep feeding on same person, and they won't die. And you can feed on the vampires in the cave you start in, when they sleep.
zippy57 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I think if there was a toggle' date=' it would be too easy to abuse.[/quote']The decision to abuse a feature is always on the user, you don't have to abuse it if you don't want to, and if you do abuse it you have no basis for complaint. Besides, the vanilla game already includes the most abusable feature possible: ~tgm.
Guest Vendayn Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Yeah I guess that is true. The hunger could be a console command or something. It isn't like this is an online/multiplayer game, so yeah...I'll agree. If someone wants to use a feature like that, then it doesn't affect anyone else's game.
Old Book Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I'm a big fan of Live Another Life (which, from a logic point of view, trumps the original game), and I agree that dealing with the hunger was possible. I didn't know I could feed on the other vamps if I waited for them to sleep. Still, I'd have liked to have woken up full.
ToJKa Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 This seems to half-work for me. Feeding and abilities work (with the power, but not with the key), but i still have health regeneration and sunlight does no damage. Bright sunny day at 8 am, no problems. I have the "Vampire - Fledling" positive effects listed in the Active Effects tab, but are the negative effects supposed to be listed there too? Oh, and i use the Drow race and did the compatibility patch. Edit: like i posted in Nexus, problem was that "Undeath" and "Weakness to Sunlight" spells were not added to my character. So far everything seems to work fine after adding them manually.
Zetsubou Ketti Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 @Ms Leeches I have been using this mod for a couple of days while playing with a Ashen character. The mod seems to work fine but my character skin went from very dark to very pale ever since she first turned. I had hoped that her skin would darken after she fed, but it does not appear to do so. Is that working as intended? If so, is it possible to change that? Regardless, thanks for the mod! edit: missing punctuation

Zetsubou Ketti Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 ...helpful Showracemenu instructions... I am aware of this as an option, but I was wondering if the skin changing color was working as intended. There are a number of vampire mods for Oblivion that had a myriad of features, but one of my favorites was a small cosmetic change that caused the PC's skin color to become pale whenever they got hungry or, in this mod's case, starved and then return to a normal coloration after feeding. In any event, I will probably end up trying the showracemenu and seeing if my skin becomes pale again and stays that way, but I am curious about how the mod handles skin color changes. Regardless, thanks! edit: just tried this and although the color of my body changed properly, the color of my face stayed pale so it looks like that won't work.
itt1968 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I LOVE the ambush tactics when sneaking.... I dont even use weapons anymore, I just punch (wish it was claw) or ambush.... EVERYTHING !!! Great Job Leeches, hope to see, and use more of your work in the coming months ahead.
Zetsubou Ketti Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 A lot of people are having this problem and I don't know why. If you have "Fuz Ro D-oh" (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14884) installed correctly it shouldn't be happening. There is actually a bug (shocking I know) with Skyrim that affects wav files. Here is the Fuz Ro D-oh thread on beth's forums about the issue; http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1365775-rel-fuz-ro-doh/page__st__30 As for the solution, install Fuz Ro D-oh like normal. Next extract the Unfuzer archive contents (program found here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9797). Then copy all of those files into the same folder as the silent sound files (data/sound/voice/Fuz Ro D'oh). Now, run Unfuzer.exe and tick "process lip files" and click the "Refuz" button on the right. The program should combine the silent wav and the lip file into one fuz file. It will remove both of the original files though, so, as always, make a backup first. The lines stay up now before feeding so it seems like this works. shadeMe is aware of the issue, as well as the solution, and will likely fix it with the next version.
Princessity Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Hi thar everyone! I'm soooo sorry for disappearing so suddenly and for so long! but I'm back to internet now and will be trying to make it up to you somehow! I'll just need a few days to learn how to use CK again (and computer in general!) and I'm going to start working on the next batch of fixes!
Old Book Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Great to see you back! I've really enjoyed your take on Skyrim Vampirism, especially the seduce-to-feed option. Looking forward to seeing what you add next.
itt1968 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 All we are missing are claws instead of fists... except for a black screen for way to long after ripping out throats, Im not having any problems... so far, so good.

DocClox Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Finally got a chance to play with this properly last night. I had a char infected under the mod, but not yet turned. I'm guessing that I have a very old script running in the save from when ol' rex first got infected, and that the new one isn't getting a chance to load. I'll try getting him re-infected from an earlier clean save and see if that works. [edit] Tried reloading the same char pre-infection and getting reinfected. Works as expected now. One small suggestion: A bit of feeback on combat feeding would be useful. I know it says if the grapple attempt is repulsed, but it would be useful to have some indicator that it was working as well. Otherwise I seem to spend a lot of time standing still wondering if I'm about to feed or get my head stove in. Of course, the uncertainty may all be part of the fledgling vampire experience...

Yah I've noticed it too. The function takes a little while to process but I may just put the success indication as soon as the check is done. On a happier note I've just redone the feeding system! Now it's way less likely to choke up on skyrim's weird way of handling scripts. A little advice for all scripters: the "OnUpdate" event stops working on npcs who aren't in the same cell as player and then refuses to re-register on its own. Tricky! Stupid Skyrim! What was wrong with the wonderful old "OnEffectUpdate"? ._. Anyways I'll upload the new version in a moment!
Destructers Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I am still using vampire FX mod, too bad the author no longer work on it. Anyway, tracking this to see what happens. Could you add vampire jump power? I know there is a mist form, but it doesn't quite feel right if you can't jump over the wall or up the mountain, lol. Another slight detail is when vampire is out under sun, you should see a little of smoke coming out. Also we need more quote for being vampire. So far there is only 2, need more like "There are smokes coming out of you, are you under a curse or something?" or something like that.
Princessity Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 It's a response to a private message from Stewartale (I couldn't respond to the message because it says Stewartale has private messaging disabled) but because a lot of other people have asked me about it I guess I can respond publicly: A lot of people ask me to make the rate of ageing faster but I don't think I want it. It's supposed to be slow so that the reward after you finally get it really feels like an achievement you've worked hard to attain. This mod is supposed to be a little like "hardcore mode" for vampires and I really want to highlight the survival and "school of hard kicks" aspect. Stiiiill... I guess it wouldn't hurt to have more options so that everyone could be happy... I'm right now implementing a configuration system so I'll see if I can make the ageing requirements configurable somehow. Could you add vampire jump power? I know there is a mist form, but it doesn't quite feel right if you can't jump over the wall or up the mountain, lol. I'm sorry but that's not possible right now unless I use ScriptDragon and I don't want that (and don't know how to use it ._.) When SKSE enables that I'll be happy to implement super silly jumping but not yet. Another slight detail is when vampire is out under sun, you should see a little of smoke coming out. This is already implemented ^^ While sun damage is affecting you at first there's just some smoke but as your health goes down you begin to burn and it gets worse and worse until you eventually get turned into a cutie pile of blackened ash n_n Also we need more quote for being vampire. So far there is only 2, need more like "There are smokes coming out of you, are you under a curse or something?" or something like that. Um sorry I'm not sure what you mean. Could you elaborate it a little?
Princessity Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Update: I've just uploaded version 1.52 with an experimental version of configuration file. It's just a text file to use with the "bat" console command for now but once SKSE allows it I'm hoping to switch to ini configuration.
Princessity Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 And I've just watched the Dawnguard trailer ( ) which is juuuust delicious! n_n I'm surprised to see Bethesda finally giving vampires the attention they deserve but what I really love about it are the assets it's going to bring into the game. Animations are what I'm especially giddy about but if we're really lucky it may even introduce some new scripting functions that may make some cumbersome bits of VT scripts obsolete! I don't think they'll switch from the time based system to blood deterioration (I wish they did though!) but I really hope they'll at least expand the feeding system and make vampirism better integrated with the world. If they manage to design it in a way that will allow me to make Vampiric Thirst simpler I'll be very happy! I can't really know how different the new vampirism will be on the technical level but I think they'll apply the new features ("vampire lord" transformation, feeding in combat) on top of it rather than rewrite it from scratch so integrating it with VT shouldn't give me a lot of trouble. I'm looking forward to it!

It looked like you can become some kind of...demon/daedra and use crossbows. And hopefully they do something with the vanilla vampirism because we all know it's pretty bad at this time.
Yojiru Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 This probably isn't the place to be asking, but since you guys seem to play vampires too, I might as well take a shot. I'm playing a YgNord (from the Pretty faces/Enhanced Character Edit mod), and became a vampire, but didn't get any change in eyes, so I made my character go all the way up to stage four, and still no vampire eyes. Any thoughts on this? EDIT : Adding some extra info. I found out I can't feed either, and I looked into this and it's supposed to be caused by using showracemenu while vampire, however I haven't used showracemenu after becoming a vampire, only once or twice earlier in my save.
