youngfool Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 The Fallout 4 we had was a beta confirmed. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/47cc06/fallout_4_survival_mode_full_overview_extracted/ It feels like Bethesda are intentionally striping away their awesome features because they are terrified of winning another game of the year award. Nevertheless, this will surely proven to be much value for our community and modders.
Leito86 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Fun fact: there are no shortages of ideas, just time.
saviliana Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Or maybe be they are? Cause the bigger they grow, the chance of falling hard will ge bigger, too. But they had already done it without all the stirped feature.FO4 is the GOTY of DICE 2016.
Wired Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Fun fact: there are no shortages of ideas, just time. Six years?
zippy57 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Six years?Approximately two years, nine months, five days. Saving Manual and quicksaving are disabled. To save your game, you'll need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour. Maybe the game didn't ship with this because someone at Bethesda realized how horrifyingly bad an idea this was. Eh, probably not.
Wired Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Approximately two years, nine months, five days. Nope. F4's development started in 2009 after F3 MZ's release.
saviliana Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Approximately two years, nine months, five days. Nope. F4's development started in 2009 after F3 MZ's release. But the coding is actaully starts right after skyrim's last DLC finished.
Wired Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 But the coding is actaully starts right after skyrim's last DLC finished. But they finished with design document and planning what's gonna go into the game and what's not. Not significant. Obsidian did a game within 15 monts on completely unknown technology, why do Bethesda keep failing with familiar engine and such large time gaps between published games?
Gameplayer Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Playstation. As in a console that isn't particularly based on typical computer architecture and to really understand that you will have to search it up on your own. I'm not a computer engineer.

Arhon Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 They wanted to make Modding happen on PlayStation so alot of extra development time is needing.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Fun fact: there are no shortages of ideas, just time. And money. Never forget money. Apparently Bethesda didn't since they've been using the same damn engine from Morrowind all this time! No matter how much they tweak it, it's still the same core technology from fourteen years ago. Mod loads can never exceed 255 because of the two-digit tagging, it can't handle any more script loads than it could even in Skyrim (see the part about workarounds below), the game's physics are still tied to its maximum potential framerate, the list goes on. Those I really feel bad for are console users; they won't necessarily be able to use the workarounds that PC users will. Not unless they're written with something that can translate programs like JScripts and Papyrus into a language that XBOX and PS4 can understand. In the same vein, they may well be limited to whatever Bethesda will host on their distribution network for the same reason. The implications of that (*cough* paid downloads *cough*) I won't go into.

Creation is no more Gamebryo '02 than Windows 10 is MS-DOS or Source 2 is Quake. Yes, they're all built on top of their predecessors. That's the case for pretty much any long-term software development. And Gamebryo was never the problem anyway, Bethesda was. Plenty of games use Gamebryo and aren't wildly unstable. Plenty of games use Havok physics and don't freak out at high framerates. Bethesda's inability to properly implement their content within the engine is not the fault of the engine itself.

Point taken. Which only makes their decision to keep using it worse. They know the technology and yet still don't make full use of its capabilities? The argument that Win 10 is no longer DOS is actually false. DOS still does exist and manages all versions of Windows. It's just called PowerShell and is kept hidden from most users. Windows is just a GUI. But I understand your example.

Regular consumer editions remained DOS-based until ME crashed and burned, at which point ME was merged with Win2000 to create XP. PowerShell is a program with a command-line interface. It is not DOS any more than cmd.exe is.

Given the amount of food and even dirty water spread around like this was TES it won't be hard to fight off hunger and starvation. Even disease will be a minor headache given how many raw materials there are for chems to make treatments. Obsidian didn't do that great of a job and they know Fallout enough to make food, water, and chems rare outside of settled areas.
phyankord Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 so is this somthing we can activate in the files or is this part of the next expansion? or will this require modding to activate?
Varithina Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 More likely it will be a difficulty setting when you start the game, probably with the option to change it as and when you like as you can in most bethesda games.
