DocClox Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 What it really needs is FNNCQ. There's nothing wrong with Fallout 4 that couldn't be fixed if I could just do periodic raids on Corvega or Quincy, slapping collars on all the bad girls and putting them to work improving life for everyone [edit] Actually, there's quite a bit wrong with it that FNNCQ wouldn't solve, but it would be a huge help in countering the general lack of content
Arhon Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Story wise, Morrowind>FO3>FONV>FO4>Skyrim>Oblivion Gameplay mechanics wise, FO4>Skyrim>FONV=FO3>Morrowind>Oblivion RP wise, FONV>FO3>FO4>Morrowind>Skyrim>Oblivion Freedom wise, FONV>Morrowind>Skyrim>FO4>FO3>Oblivion Agreed with the above but if i had to change something it would be. Story wise. Morrowind>FONV>FO3>Oblivion>FO4>Skyrim
xenic Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Vanilla Skyrim is quite big but it's almost empty. Some crazed bandit or rabid animal here and there, that's it. There are more big questlines but they're really dull in my opinion, and there are very little dialogue options. Mods are the main reason why this game is so popular and alive to this day. So hopefully the same thing will happen to FO4. Modders will turn this OK game into something huge and stuffed with new content on every step. I honestly don't expect Bethesda to suddenly create something like Morrowind meets New Vegas meets Dark Souls meets Mount&Blade I played FO4 on my friend's PC and it wasn't terrible. I don't hate it. Ok, Skyrim. Lets take a look at the following VANILA questlines - Dark Brotherhood - Thieves Guild - Mage's College - Civil war (Imperial / Stormcloaks) - Companions All those quest lines are totally directed to a specific game play. Thieves guild full of lock picks, stealth, pick pockets. Brotherhood: assassinations, infiltration, disguise. Mages college, puzzles and magics. Civil War: Battles. Now lets try to find something similar on F04... We actually don't even have a quest line of reasonable size on F04 besides the main quest which is also VERY SMALL. Unfortunate, Fo4 was designed to be a fast-play... a generic shooter for generic players. The real fans of fallout and/or Skyrim got no respect here. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's a good game, but pretty disappointing. I agree with this mostly. The fun of having the stat choices was that they meant something beyond "am I persuasive enough?" The option to play as an idiot in NV was fun. The dialogue was hilarious and there seemed to be actual choice in general. FO4, the choice really isn't there in dialogue. You no is really just a yes in the conversation tree. It also seemed like they went nuts with radiant questing. Now that being said, I like the game but it will definitely be improved when modders can make zones.

DocClox Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 It's ages since I checked the comments page for FNNCQ. Is 2.0 still active? I pretty much assumed it was dead in the water by now. (Not that I'm in any position to criticise anyone, I know...)

The last time Sesom mentioned it was 2014 (though nothing came of it) so yeah it's pretty much death. https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/about-fnncq-2-ttw
Mephykuns Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You guys like big empty open worlds? I sure know i do!
remois Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Morrowind was great and added a lot of things lacking in daggerfall, although they had to cut down a lot of things. Also relations beetween factions were not binary. Unless they were not actively fighting each other, you could have a good standing in one and a barely accepted in an otherwise hostile faction. If you want huge empty world I still think it's daggerfall anyway. As for beth, let's face it, they may be great in term of lore and worldbuilding one of the best in fact, but when it comes to their storytelling skills, it really sucks, their quests are blands and uninvolving. Dialogs are ok, but do characters are shallow. It doesn't go enough in stereotype to be comedic, or are not deep enough to be really interesting save for a few exceptions. That's why when they teamed up with bioware, adding the strengh of both studio made the game great. To me fonv is still the best modern fallout because it was involving (I can't get myself to compare the old and new series because except for the lore, they're far too different). When playing fallout 4, I was back playing an improved fallout 3 where I was roaming around and didn't care much for the story. As for the op subject it makes sense that the game doesn't have much cities, and are broken into smaller settlement because not so long before (I'd guess for a few month), there was still a dependable force that were working to keep raiders in check. That would also explain how undefended they are. But we should have seen more overcrowded settlements more refugees on the road travelling to other cities with caravans. I also think that some established settlements have grown more or would have been obliterated. The shift of power is too recent to have bigger settlements, but the game should give more the feeling of a transitory phase, instead it looks like it was like this for years Also realism wise sanctuary would have already been a choice settlement either from raiders or for settlers. It's easily defendable and even if you can't enter the vault itself, the main entrance provide for a good secure storage and a defendable shelter. Well I'll let this one pass because of game logic (although I must say that awakening in a raider camp and having to sneak out while suffering from the side effect of cryo sleep would have built some great tension, and taking it back later with the help of preston and a few minutemen or whatever faction you want might have made an ok sidequest) I think there are a lot coming with underwater next. But to me one of the thought here was to let modders take care of the emptiness. Clearly they foccused on gameplay more than anything. And I wouldn't be surprised to hear that a lot of intended content were cut in f4
Mexicola88 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Well when the ck finally get`s released there are endless possibilities for modders if they are motivated enough. Im thinking of something like settlers quest`s combined with new lands and buildings they could even build a spaceship like the zeta or yeah underwater stations or build a complete subway system with quests from still being able to think ghouls. Or place a new city like diamond city with 3 additional factions everyone trying to be the one in charge of the city but in the end only one faction survives the game just need`s much more quests. also i miss interesting npc`s from skyrim. another idea the minutemen found a perfect spot to build a new skyscraper everytime you deliver new materials the building get`s higher and you can only build defense and furniture and stuff the walls and floors are all made from the modder itself but you can build around it to get food, water and then the radius of the settlement expands the higher the building gets to produce even more food and water and defense the more settlers you get. crap my english is the worst
