windpl Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Yeah, even though they now have their own mocap studio, animations still look slow and clunky, no improvements in horse animations either. TW have one game, which is by the way a decade old game, and instead of making a "sequel" to the previous game, they keep improving this one game. This was also the case for Warband, which was the "enhanced" version of the original Mount & Blade. Hopefully, Bannerlord will be the enhanced version of Warband, but a "dumbed down" Warband is still a possibility, which is why I'm a bit skeptical about Bannerlord. Considering that TW was 2 man team. Woman as art designer and her husband as coder. They gone far.
bjornk Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 They sure did. Probably one of the most successful indie games ever. I'm not quite sure how they will handle boxed versions for Bannerlord, now that they no longer work with Paradox. Finding a boxed copy of the game might be difficult this time.

Does anyone buys box version anyways? My last boxed game was Fallout 4 because of *tradition* ( since I have all fallouts in boxed versions) I was surprised when I wanted to plug-in dvd into my dvd-rom because . . . there was no dvd-rom in my PC case . . . I forget that I did not included a dvd-rom in my new PC build lol No freakin manuals to sniff and no dvd rom to install the game. I died a little inside. I would be even more mad if the DVD had only SteamInstall.api I would be so mad.
Vykroft Posted March 8, 2016 Author Posted March 8, 2016 And back to the topic, here is another gameplay video, HQ this time. Still no siege combat mechanic to show.
ReMeDy Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 And back to the topic, here is another gameplay video, HQ this time. Still no siege combat mechanic to show. The character creation looks MUCH better, as do the graphics. I don't care if the gameplay is the same imo.
SunAddict Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Have the specs been released yet? I loved Warband but my CPU is ancient...
Vykroft Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Me too, I have a powerful CPU, but my VGA could not be enough for the game... Sadly no specs has been informed yet.
Darkening Demise Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 M&BB may be better with a new engine, performance will only be a major concern during large battles where you'll be forced to turn down the settings and or battle size. Warband, no matter the specs, played terribly due to its crap engine. It couldn't handle a thing, mods played worse since many used higher quality textures and details. Bannerlord though, by the looks of it, is smoother. So I'm hopeful it will make modding more enjoyable and limiting, especially without the lame module thing anymore. So they're going more like BGS with multiple active mods?
Kargrin Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Just keep the game moddable... just imagine the craziness!
Vykroft Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Dear friends mod support is one of the first thing they confirmed long time ago. Along with the replacement of the old module system.
Darkening Demise Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Did they confirm those tools are being available?
Vykroft Posted March 13, 2016 Author Posted March 13, 2016 Yup, the new engine editor will be available (just see the video), the idea is that the new editor replace the old module system, and apparently it include a brand new animation interface for cinematic .
Darkening Demise Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Oh that management looks beautiful. I just hope this version won't take forever like Warband. I swear, I spent over 60 days just to gather about 20 peasants from local villages and get pwned by a group of 75 raiders! It took forever to build up anything and traveling, ew.

Yea....I only lasted a day or so playing like that and went searching for a tutorial to mod the game to fix that little red wagon. I had my villagers pumping out future soldiers faster than rabbits!!!
bjornk Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I don't remember if it was that difficult to recruit villagers in WB, but you need positive relations with villages (you need to help them by doing quests like bringing them grain, cattle herding, etc.) and train them against bandits if you want more and high quality troops. Unless they've changed it in later versions (the last version I played was 1.132 or something), with good relationships and training, you should be able to recruit top-tier troops from villages (e.g. knights, huscarls and so on). To build stuff more quickly (village/town improvements, siege equipment etc) you need to invest points into engineering skill or have an engineer companion in your party (like Artimenner).
Darkening Demise Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Not to mention how Lords would run around with 400+ elite soldiers against your small band of peasants, it made the starting your own kingdom thing impossible without cheats enabled to deal damage to their forces, train units, level up yourself and get money. Even if you somehow took out one kingdom you had the others to deal with, and they'd tag team you! Enemies would work together out of the blue! >.< The scale of the world also made things rather boring. Trying to take ALL of it on your own, since when dismissing 'companions' they'd stay in some place and do nothing while being besieged by several Lords of 2000+ soldiers. :/ Flipping lords scattered all around laying siege to every castle, town, and burning down my villages. Me trying to deal with them on my own, ugh. So yeah I HOPE things really are improved, I don't want it to be easy I just want it to be less of a hassle and the AI more capable of things on their own without you involved which in majority of games has proven impossible since they rely heavily on the players' support as that's how developers design the AI; babysitting.
Vykroft Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Warband is being porting to console.... mmmm http://www.dualshockers.com/2016/03/24/sandbox-rpg-mount-blade-warband-coming-to-ps4-and-xbox-one-this-spring/ I cannot image who difficult would be to use the joystick with this, imagine you are surrounded by 4 kerghit on horses and you have to rely on the joystick manoeuvrability..... I just hope Bannerlord doesn't come to console, I prefer if they focus their effort in just one platform.
bjornk Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I'm afraid, Bannerlord is also coming to consoles.
Darkening Demise Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Peasants will hinder the experience once more. Curs-ed blots!
gregathit Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 I'm totally fine with a PC game being ported "after the fact" to consoles. It is the reverse that is killing games like Quantum Break and so many others. Make the game for the high end (PC's) and then scale it back/kill extra features for the consoles. Seams like this would be so much easier than going the reverse.
Darkening Demise Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Hopefully you're right that they're reversing it for consoles for once. Sucks for them they'll have only 20 men battles.
sora3 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Well, I'd rather reserve judgement on the console factor until the game is out. I mean, it can't be that bad since we're no longer dealing with the PS3/X360 generation now... shudders at those times...
bjornk Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Playing Warband again after 4 years. Combat is still fun, but I just remembered how annoying the SP campaign was, despite the fact that I'm using my own mod which irons out a lot of annoyances in the game... One thing I'd definitely change in Warband is the skill system. I'd like those combat and management related skills separated to be more specific. Or at least I'd turn them into a "proficiency" (i.e. improve as you do type of thing). Me and my companions fight the same battles and gain a level, but some of us have to waste that valuable skill point on something like "Trade", which doesn't make any sense as we don't gain that skill point by "trading"... It's a problem in almost every RPG though, but still... wrong...
