ousnius Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I would think that the only way the HDT-PE mod would not work is if you either do not run Skyrim with SKSE, or you do not have any mods that HDT would effect. The order could be the problem, any mods that overwrite things in the main HDT mod would need to come after in order to work. I don't think any mod would need to overwrite HDT's main .dll file, but I'm not sure about that. See, I didn't think it would be an issue with anything but SKSE... Now, since Mod Organizer doesn't touch the Skyrim install, would the fact it launches SKSE from the Skyrim install be an issue? Or would I need to make an SKSE area inside the Mod Organizer folder? Every other mod works fine, so, I'm a little baffled as to why HDT-PE refuses to cooperate. The original SKSE is the only "mod" that you have to install, manually, into the skyrim folder. You can however install SKSE plugins through MO. I have no experience whatsoever with HDT and CBBE/UNP or what-have-you, so I am very glad for you that Kana Red and cell came to the rescue SKSE is listed as a downloadable game in Steam now, so one can install that as well. You still need to launch the game through MO of course.

RitualClarity Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Can someone confirm that Steam indeed works well with SKSE and our mods? It might be something to consider if it does as the updates would be automatic... correct? If I understand it correctly SKSE scripts / tool etc is backwards compatible so there wouldn't be any downside to having it automatically update (well for most users that is)

RitualClarity Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 I agree with the mods being installed through Steam but SKSE is interesting provided it is kept up to date and won't cause problems with saves or updates. However I will wait (or test myself) before advising use of Steam to install SKSE myself
Vynarus Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Well, the FNIS issue was resolved! Until it wasn't. Google didn't find anything. I've reinstalled FNIS, deleted and re-added the new FNIS generator to the executables, and I still get this error each time FNIS is run; FNIS also generates an error when ran, and after closing it, MO warns me that "FNIS found an error. Launch anyway?" Edit I also get the error when running LOOT, BodySlide, Tes5Edit... basically any executable. Edit 2 Also addedn the FNIS generator from the Data tab - same result.

Alright, the "source has changed" error seems to be fixed by disabling the FNIS plugin. Grammar edit

I know you addressed the permissions issue previously, however have you tried to install your game, steam, FNIS etc outside of C/Programs etc, etc? I had problems when I first installed Skyrim on another computer (Steam was located in the default C/Programs etc etc location). When I uninstalled it and moved everything to the root it worked just fine. Might not be worth trying as it might not be the issue or even the solution because .. yes once you resolved the permissions UAC crap it shouldn't give you any more issues. However I don't know of anyone that mods Skyrim having it in the default location .

gvman3670 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 So did you add any mods with animations before that error? Because it just seems to be a warning to run the executable again. Also, have you gone to where FNIS is and right click the executable then "run as administrator" just once? You probably should.
jlttsmiley Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Also, recently, every other time I run FNIS through MO, I get this: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Could not find the file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\data\meshes\actors\chracte r\behaviors\0_master.hkx And the issue gets resolved as easily as you think; find the "0_master.hkx" and copy/paste it into the destination. However, I guess it keeps getting deleted or something, else the error would stop. Update, just ran FNIS again to follow Kuroyami's advice, and got this: >>Warning: Generator not run from a legal (Steam) Skyrim installation directory. If you use SKSE, this can be fixed by starting Skyrim once through Steam.<< Do what it states. the configuration files or whatever is needed isn't there. Start it once outside of MO directly from Steam and that warning should disappear. 1. it has been advised not to let steam install in the default location which is (programfilesx86) better to use a second drive even better an ssd or create a new folder on C drive renaming it something like program games . Yes. It is advised and many install it to a root folder on their preferred drive. like this:: :C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim The above you can replace "C:" with any drive letter you want. This is a general advise and helps keep the path way smaller as well. Easier to navigate as well. FNIS in the above situation should be located: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe Some state running it outside of MO at least once but I never had to do that step so long as I ran Skyrim at least once outside of MO (or for that matter any mod manager of your choice) I success you go to YOUTUBE an type SKYRIM STEP look for S.T.E.P.
