Did you know the Talented Edward James Olmos invented the dialect he spoke in that movie? I thought that was a trip when I read it just after the movie opened.

Translations seem to show that it is mostly Hungarian, which strikes me as an odd language to be a significant source of street lingo in Los Angeles. But then I imagine Olmos chose words just because he liked them, not because they necessarily made sense.
