Patrickersej Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Helloi have not played fallout 3 or New vegas which is the better one of the 2?or which one do you guys recommend
Kaz Aanh Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 New Vegas gameplay additions ( weapon customization , hardcore mode ) writing fantastic characters weak and meh DLCs Fallout 3 landscape and atmosphere ( game felt like a true post apocalyptic fallout unlike new negas which for me it was a western game ) solid DLCs and very refreshing too much *underground* areas But you can fix most of the stuff with the mods so its not a problem. Personally I preffer Fallout 3. Both games are good but New Vegas is a slightly better.

Captain Cobra Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Get both and play both of them with Tale of Two Wastelands.
Kuunkulta Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I recommend Fallout 3 just for the fact that you haven't played it. Play it first and then play New Vegas. Worth it. But first play Fallout 1&2! I'm in the minority for my opinion, but I actually think FO3 had a better story. New Vegas's story was cool until you get to the guy who shoots you in the face . From that point on the main story stumbles trying to do too much at once. You're told to get a feel of the various factions around but those quests are short and all in all just feel like they're fillers as the quests don't have that big of an effect on the world or the story . However that's where NW's DLCs come in. You can pretty much ignore the later half of the main game and go for the DLCs as they are much much more interesting! Early in the main game you get a hint here and hint there about your character's past and the events leading to the main story. DLCs expand that background story in an engaging fashion. While FO3's DLCs are kinda just side stories exploring the surrounding areas of the Capital Wasteland, all NW's DLCs follow that same background story (and have you do this and that while you're at it). Fallout 3 has a better atmosphere though. It's dark and feels more like a post-apocalyptic game instead of a western (like Dagren already said). Super awesome metro tunnels with ghouls and everything! And those vaults are just... awesome! NW's first DLC Dead Money got that dark, gloomy atmosphere back but it doesn't make up for the rest of the game. Landscape in FO3 felt bigger too. So I recommend Fallout 3 for gameplay, New Vegas (DLCs) for story. Equally good but in different ways.

Actually, I considered New Vegas to be boring and get interesting by the time I was doing Mr. House quests. Though, I never finished the main quest. I just did a few of Mr. House quests and got bored of the game. Dead Money was probably the best of all I've seen by Obsidian. I have to admit that I felt I was apart of the place. Lonesome Road had a general good idea for a desert apocalypse. When I first did that DLC I was like "this, this right here is what they should of implemented in FNV for the main world.". That would of been a real desert post-apoc vibe for the main world.
