Did I really say that???

After looking through some posts I made while back, I see endless amounts of things that weren't true, weren't what I meant, or were just plain stupid. Even things I see on other places from just a few days ago, or the common experience of thinking about better things to say after an argument. I wanted to ask if others ever noticed this about themselves. And, other than of course thinking before speaking (often difficult), I wondered what folks did about it.

I've said some stupid shit before. I think we all have. I don't regret it because I can't turn back time. But I say what I feel and I can be very directive at times. It's in my nature. So feel free to give me a smack across the face, I might just like that instead.

I have slight different feeling, when I see my old stuff I'm just like "wow, how could I become so dump so fast" ;D

A little humility now and then never hurt anyone. It's when you obsess or overly criticize yourself that it becomes a problem. I've done and said stupid things in the past, and while I think it's important to remember those moments for various reasons, I try not to let them burden me with doubt or self pity. 'Try' being the operative word, of course.

Well, the only time I didn't agree with my old posts, was when my account got hacked. Changed password and voila, problem solved.

But on a more serious note - I always make sure that I'm calm before writing anything. My opinions may have changed a bit over the years, but my old posts treat about *my opinions back then* so it's ok, as I don't consider my old opinions stupid, just a tad different. Today I have more facts to base my opinions on and my old opinions are the best that I could come up with a limited knowledge I had back then.

So as I see it, you have 4 options, choose one of them:

a) learn humility by accepting your own occasional stupidity

B) consider yourself great whatever the hell you write :P

c) don't read your old posts

d) write with calm mind/heart and avoid expressing opions, focusing on facts instead (may be kinda boring)

I've noticed that I sometimes get half an idea out, thinking I got the whole idea.  This is after it's posted, and there are responses, and things have taken the normal twist and turn of forum threads, so it's rather difficult to clarify.  Usually, I don't bother.  No real reason to when it's a bunch of people I don't know and will never meet.  What're they going to do?  Send my account to Oblivion?  Worst case, I guess, and nothing really lost, though I would miss the place.  There are other times, when I actually not only see, but agree with multiple sides of a particular issue to varying degrees.  Then it gets really difficult.
