Guest mercury11 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Just stumbled across this today, and I'm sure many of you have as well. Elder Scrolls online has gone subscription free. This is good news for those who wanted to play the game, but did not want to pay a monthly fee for a game. I've heard some mediocre reviews when it first came out. I haven't played it, but since it's a free to play, I might buy it and check it out. Question is, do I buy it for my PC, or do I wait until June for my PS4? Or get both? Here's the link on the article if anyone is interested. http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2015/03/17/elder-scrolls-online-goes-subscription-free-on-pc-and-mac/
aidcampbl Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The reviews for the elder scrolls online I've seen say that if you want to play an elder scrolls game, play modded skyrim, or if you want to play an MMO, play anything but this one. I haven't touched it, personally.

bjornk Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 "The game isn’t exactly free-to-play—you still need to buy it for $59.99—but it no longer requires $15/month after the initial purchase". There's nothing to get excited about, IMO.
winny257 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Lol $59.99...just to play another MMORNG. LOL in Germany, it is already to purchase for 29.90 EUR. http://www.elderscrollsbote.de/eso-preisvergleich/
cornbreadtm Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I got it for like 20 bucks off steam a while back. It's a MMO, so I really have no opinion on that aspect since I don't play with others. But the quests and lore are all fun since I like the elder scrolls. It was well worth the money. If I was a big MMO guy who played WoW my whole adult life, I might not like it since it's not WoW, which is what people in game don't like about it. Whenever I get somewhere that needs a party I end up exiting and playing Skyrim lol. I was an only child growing up I don't like sharing my games others. But it is fun talking to people about Elder Scrolls who like Elder Scrolls.

dork42 Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Or buy one on ebay, just make sure its new/unused code. While it hasn't sucked me in completely I do enjoy it, one factor i like is you're on a quest, a village is under attack so you fight your way through, kill the bad leader in the Manor and exit. Many games you'd then have to fight you're way back out again. With ESO the guards/army have come in and put down any remaining resistance, the streets are still littered with bodies but you can leave without having to fight the same guys you fought going in. Reminds me of the Death Knight quests in WoW, environment changing based on quest progression
windpl Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Dose even anybody care about this shit any more? They have to pay me to force me to play it. And give it few more months and It will go total f2p after milking everything.

funnymotion Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 So the game is subscription free now eh? I guess I will pick it up when there is a good price drop. I have a lot of friends who play ESO so it will be nice to finally join them.

You do not have to apologize. it's just that the presenters in most cases close duplicate threads! like here for example. open: The Witcher 3 http://www.loverslab.com/topic/18222-the-witcher-3/ closed: Witcher 3 http://www.loverslab.com/topic/42966-witcher-3/

Then i discover it has almost nothing to do with true elder scroll and remove it from my pc. Fork out 54 euros for this garbage no thanks. Sorry im so negative but zenimax is ruining this IP in my humble opinion in so many ways it´s sad that bethesda let this happen

bjornk Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 A rather naive thought perhaps, but I think people should let TESO fall hard, in order to force Bethesda/Zenimax to focus on making a decent moddable single-player game.

The studio that makes the single player games, fallout & elder scrolls, had nothing to do with making this abomination.
bjornk Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 The studio that makes the single player games, fallout & elder scrolls, had nothing to do with making this abomination. And I haven't said anything that implied otherwise. Zenimax owns Bethesda Game Studios and they most likely has the last word on what the next project of BGS will be. So hopefully, the success of Skyrim and the failure of TESO will force them to rethink their decision on making a TES MMO.
jxm Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Weird ... all this hatred against the game almost makes me wanna play it ^^ But nah, I am still too busy blowing money up Bioware's and EA's ass with Old Republic, wanna see the EAvil EAmpire grow a bit more from my bucks before I support the "downfall" of the Elder Scrolls

How is ToR these days? I played it for a while at launch and stopped after my 3rd character got close to endgame since I realized that was all there was left to do. I'm not a big MMO guy, so I won't do the same dungeon over and over every day just to get armor that will make it easier to do the next set of dungeons over and over. Plus I mained a scrapper scoundrel and they kept nerfing my class till nobody wanted to bring me to raids. When it went ftp I installed it and checked it out but it didn't seem any different so I uninstalled again.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Of course they still have a cash shop so you can get EXP boosts and other shit to make your friends look like TOTAL NUBZ LOLZZZZZZZZ. Because why not pay 60 USD for a game and then pay them more money in a fucking cash shop.

Duoleb The Chosen Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 i follow the c0da principle, ESO its another Timeline created by the Daggerfall's Dragon Breaking 4th wall Ending istill want to play it, but i don't have the hard drive to do it

If you're talking about ESO, I think the only thing that would give people an advantage from the Crown Store is a mount to make you travel a tiny bit faster/cooler and maybe the item repair kits to repair weapons and armor after a long day's work. Everything else is purely cosmetic like costumes and pets.
