ErikModi Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 So, things got messed up in my main Skyrim game, so I cleaned things out completely (again), deleted my Data folder, let Steam re-update, and re-installed my old mods (the ones I wanted to keep, anyway.) But now, whenever I try and make my character, the game crashes to desktop. Both in vanilla start and Live Another life. I try and move gender to Female, things seem to process for awhile, then the game just crashes. I had this problem last time I did this, and it turned out (I believe) to have been me being stupid and installing CBBE before installing the XP32 skeleton. This time, I installed them in the right order (I'm pretty sure.) No idea what's causing this now. TESV Edit says everything's okay, BOSS and LOOT are only returning the same errors they did when my game was running fine (more or less) before.
germanicus Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Did you install MontyXs Race Compatibility Mod and ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer. Both are needed, especially the second one.
ErikModi Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Never heard of those. I'm not using any custom races or anything. EDIT: Checking them out now.
germanicus Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 It doesn't matter if you using custom races. Some mods does, but ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer is certainly needed for avoiding crushing when creating PC.
myuhinny Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Precache Killer is a must because it kills load weight caused by having too many hair mods and other beauty things. When you bring up the creation page if you have too many hair mods your game will either freeze or go screw you and CTD because all those hairs are trying to load up at the same time and the game can't handle it.
ErikModi Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Yeah, Precache Killer worked like a charm. Thanks!

Never used monty xrace eather or hear about it? Sinds SKSE 1.7 pre cache is not that importend any more maybe lowend pc still need it? I have SKSE 1.7, when reinstalling Skyrim recently, I forgot to install pre cache killer. When creating a new character for testing purposes, my game crushed. Then I installed that mod, and had no problem. Beside that I have all latest unofficial patches, SKYUI and all other small but necessary things plus 1.9.3 version of Skyrim, but the game still crushed. So, basically, it all depends which mods are you using. I guess you're the lucky one if had no any crushing without it. That means you have all "regular" mods
Benmc20 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 It's simple, the Racemenu mod (2.7+ if i remember correctly) includes a "precache killer".
xgkf Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Yup, the newer RaceMenu version(s) includes the precache killer thing (which is just a value set in the skse.ini file).
germanicus Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I have that version since it came out and regularly updating it, but I haven't notice any word about pre cache killer included. As a matter of fact when I reinstalled Skyrim recently, I installed this mod and forgot on Pre cache... The game crushed when creating new character until I install it.
D_ManXX2 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 i am not really sure it has, all i have is nioverride.dll and charagen.dll no precashkiller. Are we talking about racemenu 2.72 ??
Uriel Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Starting from RM 2.7.0 precachekiller is integrated into chargen module, enabled by default: [FaceGen] bDisableFaceGenCache=1
D_ManXX2 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 so it does not even need precashkiller.dll anymore ??
xgkf Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 From the Sticky on RaceMenu's Nexus Page: DisableFaceGenCache is now integrated in CharGen.ini. This means that ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer and DisableFaceGenCache are no longer necessary, you can delete these plugins from your SKSE Plugins directory. (DisableFaceGenCache does the same thing as the other mentioned mod)
Uriel Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 If you have the latest RaceMenu installed, both the showRaceMenu_preCacheKiller.dll and disablefacegencache.dll are obsolete.
D_ManXX2 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Thanks i still had them in my skse folder, away they go.

Thank you guys. I missed those lines you quoted. It's probably my lack of knowledge of English. Just still don't understand why my game crushed without PCC as an separate mod.

Ok my fault i see indeed the latest racemenu ive installed also auto instal precache killer sorry for mis understanding. But ive never had many troubles also before the memory patch ayear ago my game was also very stable, im very carefully with installing mods many i do manually and only if im sure they work good with others. Ive read alot from Boris vorontsof(ENB creator) how it all works and how you can correctly run skyrim. Offcorse a high end PC helps with more stable game then lets say a laptop. But even then ive still sometimes a crash but rarely so im happy.
Eikichi Onizuka Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I use only ECE v1.2 and not integrated a FaceGen precache, with ECE works better PrecacheKiller v1.3 or is better DisableFaceGenCache v1.1 ?
