Dreamer102 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 1. Asheron's Call - (Beta and years 1-4) I have never spent so much time with friends and online making an alternate life. It was the best 5 years of my life spent on the computer. 2. Oblivion - You know how I feel...lol Dm
threeddd33 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 My favourite of all time? Would have to be Planescape Torment. Not only was the setting and plot strong' date=' there was incredible value placed upon what are usually considered dump stats (Int Wis Cha). And these stats were the most important, and combat skills became secondary if you wanted to know the really important details. Very few games stress the importance of dialogue and consequences like PS:T. The best game of all time though... I'm torn between Super Mario 3 and Tetris. Leaning towards Tetris though. [/quote'] I wish they'd make a sequel to PST. They left the storyline wide open for it..... Morte, Anna, Grace and all his friends battling their way through the hells to rescue the Nameless One from eternal torment. Anna and Grace getting jealous of each other, and Morte busting their chops the entire journey.... ah well. I may have to reload that game now.
Kodiak Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Masters of Orion 2 (PC) X-Com UFO Defense (PC) Ogre Battle (SNES/PS1) Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1)
Guest mercury11 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 My favorite game or series of games would be the Dragon Warrior/Quest games. The last one, Dragon Quest VIII for PS2 was so ridiculously long, I never had a chance to finish it. The level up system takes for ever, but I'm slowly chipping away at it.
LilDevil Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I'm split between Stronghold Crusader from Firefly Studios and Mount and Blade from Taleworlds Studio. Both games were one of the first games I ever picked up, and both had amazing communities that helped these games survive, I mean Firefly even remade an even harder version for their fans almost 7 years later, even knowing that there wouldn't be amazing sales, but did it for their fans. Mount and Blade is one of those games that should be called a stimulator, but allowed for a large community to mod it to hell, remaking various fantasy stories or novels into full fledged games. It was here I first found my love for video games, and still play to this day.
Guest flingingfeces Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 The ones I have a hard time picking from are Secret of Mana Caslevania Symphony of the Night Contra Super Mario World Mega Man 2 FF7 FF8 If I had to pick one from those though I'd probably go with Symphony
Spell Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Some of my favourites: Dungeon Keeper (1) Z (1) Diablo (1&2) Die Siedler2&Die nächste Generation Gothic2&3 Stronghold (1&2&Legends) Thief (1&2&3) Oblivion Unreal Tournament 2004 Starcraft2

NightShade Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 not sure i have any game considered the best of all time so im gonna write down the ones that i have on my head currently that i enjoyed immensely. i'll add more if i recall them Tales of the Abyss Final Fantasy 12 MGS:4 Guns of the Patriots Tales of the Abyss got a really EPIC storyline. FF12: awesome storyline (very long! i reached 99hrs IIRC), awesome graphics for a ps2 and great gameplay. MGS:4: another game with an epic storyline (4th is end of the MGS series) and great gameplay
Jerbsinator Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 The original Chrono Trigger is the best game of all time. Final Fantasy VII and Zelda: Ocarina of Time come close though.
polluxval Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 maybe not the best game of all time but deserves a mention: "The Longest Journey" also: "Flashback" a game as old as me. not even mentioned in pcgamer. what a shame. they dont know nothing about classics.
EvenstarGW Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Tough question. So many great games mentioned already. Secret of Mana was one of my favorites for the multiplayer. Zelda:Link to the past and OOT were great. But the one greatest game of all time that desperately needs a sequel is Dungeon Keeper 2. It's the game that got my girlfriend into gaming with me, we'd play it deep into the night. I still remember the teaser trailer for DK3 that came with it, sad that it has never been picked up.
razriel Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 solitaire .. lol what?! it's a good time killer when you have to wait for example, when you're OMOD-izing huge mods like the BP or MBP anyway, I have to mention Star Ocean 3. why?! because it is one of the game that has very tough hidden bosses. you can easily get killed by it. heck, you can easily get killed just by going to the boss, the dungeons can easily annihilated your party. even when you cheated with infinite lives, they can petrified your party and that still considered game over also Xenogears ... the story line was very hard for my mind at that time. wait, it is not but I do find it shocking. you're final battle is to go against God?
Jerbsinator Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 "Flashback" I played the 3DO version of Flashback and I agree it was fantastic. A little scary for a kid (which I was) but it was still great. Tough game though.

Love: The gameplay and music, all great. Somewhat led down by the 3 character party (the Star Ocean standard is 4) but still a lot of fun with tons of extra content. Hate: The story, oh god the story. Possibly the worst story in any JRPG I've ever played. Not because it was terrible, but because it had the potential to be great and was executed horribly. Yes I'm talking mainly about that twist, but also it was riddled with silly plot holes and most of the characters were complete idiots. also Xenogears ... the story line was very hard for my mind at that time. wait, it is not but I do find it shocking. you're final battle is to go against God? NERDGASM (also spoilers): Actually that wasn't God. That was a computerised weapon system built by the Federation that also built the Eldridge that due to it's abilities decided to imitate God for all intents and purposes on the planet it was trapped on after the crash. The being actually closest resembling God is the extra-dimensional entity that was trapped in the alien cosmic battery for the last bajillion years. Though it itself is somewhat bemused at the notion of being regarded as God. Yes I'm serious.

Yes I'm serious. yes, I know that. i was suppose to write "God(?)" noted that the God I've mention wasn't actually God, although the name Deus does means that ... there are still too many shrouded mysteries in this game that was somewhat failed to unveiled on Xenosaga.

[/quote'] I used to read the translation for Perfect Works a lot (the book released in Japan by the writers of Xenogears that became the basis of Xenosaga). In it, it said Deus was so named by the Galaxy Federation because it was a sentient weapon with the ability to annihilate and create life, and it was connected to an infinite power source (the Zohar). So basically, man-made God. And they were surprised when it went berserk and tried to take over.

Stranger Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 "Silent Hill 2". This game has best storyline, design, animation and voice acting.
Guest Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I'd like to name one but I think it's wrong to give out a name to the best game of all time you know? Each game has all of it's merits and errors and I personally feel that until there is a game that caters to each and every genre of gaming perfectly it is best for now to just award games best in their respective categories, IMHO.
Rogue13 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Arcanum. While I found the graphics disappointing, the concept (magic and technology ( & the way they impacted each other)), the crafting, and the gameplay were fantastic.
razerparero Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 These are all my favorite Games of all time: 1. Rage 2. Need for Speed - Underground 3. Heavy Rain 4. Batman : Arkham city
