Best game of all time!

Recommended Posts

A Dance With Rogues, which is amusingly a Neverwinter Nights mod. To the point its actually really damaged my enjoyment of gaming since the closest thing to it is the sexual mods for Bethesda (and New Vegas) games.

I liked the story of being a weakling surrounded by the strong, being the underdog, and I also liked how the story wasn't some massive world saving adventure. It was a personal quest. I found the companions all facinatng in their own ways. I have real affection for the Pia character, and the length if not depth of the romance. Its like a Bioware game with its NPCs, except it dares to tread into the adult situatons aswell.

It also tittilated me, and even though I don't exacly liek the part of myself, i'm a very sexually minded person. If a game doesn't have a damn amazing story, then it had best have gritty sexual elements. That effectively makes 95% of games boring for me, and I really hate that fact. It also made me love playing as a female character to the point of rarely playing males, since that mix of being just as capable as any male character... yet with a certain vulnarability... is amazing fun to play out.

It was the 'game' that made me realise that pretty much all R and M games - no mater how 'adult' - are actually juvanile blood and death fests rather than actually adult. ADwR has gone more 'porn-like' with the last few updates, though it always was a little far over that line with skimpy armor for the sake of skimpy armor, but resembles A Song of Fire and Ice. It doesn't shy away from the brutal and sexual realities of being a woman in a hard world, let alone a dark ages style fantasy world.

Your a young pretty thief. You sneak into a mans home and try to steal something. He catches you. Now, all mainstream games would give you two options for the most part. Kill him, or give him gold. He would then let you go wth the item. Now... A Dance with Rogues was different. You could do both those things, but focus was talking your way out of it, and if you failed a speech test (and sometimes if you didn't) he would demand a 'favor' from the PC.

In most games bandits and raiders are stuck on perma-aggression. No matter who you are, peasant or warlord, they will brainlessly attack you and try to kill you. In one amazing and notable scene early in ADwR you are instead captured, low level and with little hope of victory in combat, by the bandits instead because they recognise you arn't a threat and can think of better things to do with a young woman rather than just guttng her on sight. You have ways to escape; though none are desirable. You can flee naked but unmolested from their base with arrows flying aroudn you and wild dogs eager to kill you. You can try your luck in killing two of the thugs, and then sneaking/assassinating your way aroudn their base to recover your gear... or if you hesitate for even a second the PC will be locked in some stocks and be raped by two of the bandits, before the power of plot allows her to be freed.

Seriously, this gritty and sexual mod for a very old game grabbed me, and since it I have had a hard time enjoying any sort of mainstream game because I see what could be. Its not even for the thrills, because I enjoyed the challenge of trying to avoid all the sexual encounters and play a chaste character. It immersed me. It added a great deal to the module, because I was in that mindset of a vulnerable young woman with no way to protect myself except my wits.

It's one of the biggest failings in the Lovers series in my opinion, and one I hope that can be fixed early on with Skyrim. Perhaps in New Vegas with Sexout. We have the ability, and with Oblivion the system, to interweave that same sexuality into the very quests of these games... but for the most part its always remained almost seperated from the 'actual' game with a wall. This is the only thing, aswell as the deep companions, that I feel we lack.

Wow... uh, that turned into a rant. Perhaps I should repost this in the Skyrim and NV forums as suggestions for deepening the quests and mainquests of the games. >.>

Okami (rpg) - the story was fun, The game play was awesome, The free roam was neat, The crazy powers, The art style, the replay value, the mini games, the side quests. There is just so much this game has to offer.

Blaz Blue (fighting) I like the fast paced fighting it has to offer that actually requires skill. And it has enjoyable characters.

Silent hill (horror) As a young child I was easily scared and this game sure did offer me some good scares. The puzzles were challenging and fun, The gameplay was simple yet it worked so well. Than they dropped this turd called homecoming and now downpour.

Mirrors edge (FPS) MAN! was this a fun game. The graphics were beautiful, The gameplay was solid, if dice does not make another I think they are only hurting them selves.

inFamous (sandbox) Well what is to say? How man sandbox game are there that you get to have super powers? (Prototype is cool but it seemed so lacking in places that could have made it better)

I know this is "best game of all time" But I can't just pick one.

For me 1st thief game and maybe Civ 2 (if I had to pick just 1) are best. Complicated but fun gameplay (sometimes near impossible) and thief's atmosphere just made it a win for me. Both games are customizable and some of the custom levels are just killer.

When I was younger Daggerfall and Fallout 1 drew me into the current Bethesda games. The Master's cathedral was creepy as a kid as was vengeance loud and clear in Daggerfall city at 3AM.

Wow I just finished The Witcher Enhanced Edition...What a game. Amazing. Not the best ever but a truly great experience, I hope Steam has a sale on Witcher 2 for Christmas I definitely want to get that game now.

EDIT: And I finally got The Witcher 2, $23 on Steam. Never thought it would be possible to top The Witcher but this game is fantastic and the graphics are absolutely stunning.

I don't think I slept or eat for several days playing W2. I was so freaking caught up in it! Beth has a lot to learn from W2 in the interactive story department and in having consequences to your actions.

Oh...and let's not forget....nudity right out of the box with no mods :)

Ya I just completed it yesterday. Absolutely great game. Got a little too easy at the end but maybe Hard mode will remedy that. On another note the writing for both Witcher games is top notch, there is very rarely a game that has a better story than this.

The consequences of your actions are also really cool as well and they don't punish you for making one choice or the other. It's written so well that your choices are always meaningful, no matter which route you choose. I love that there is two completely different cities you go to depending on your choice in chapter 1...Iorveth FTW. :P

The only thing I was disappointed in is there was never any craftable weapons that were better than any weapons you can find or be awarded.

Also the hoods.....those fucking hoods! Ughh. They were cool at first but Geralts hair is so badass why would you hide it?

Doom.

The first one by John Carmack. It literally started the revolution of First Person Shooters. Doom 1 is "The Beatles" of computer gaming. Nearly all other titles/ideas descended from that game. From online PvP to Skyrim. They all have their roots in that epic code.

Without mods: Command and Conquer (yes the first one). I played it endlessly.

With mods: Total Annihilation. For me that game was the pinnacle of RTS! I am not quite sure how many hours I played this sucker (still do on some occasions). Amazing how decent the graphics are still to this day.

Hellz yeah. Even without mods, I'd spend hours on a single map. Don't play it much anymore, though.

Also, Starcraft and the expansion Brood War. Fuck Starcraft 2, that ain't shit.

Arcanum.

While I found the graphics disappointing' date=' the concept (magic and technology ( & the way they impacted each other)), the crafting, and the gameplay were fantastic.

I'm going with Arcanum I think holds a special place in my heart because it is the first real RPG I had ever played also the one that made get into PC gaming, actually my second choice would probably be Vampire the mascarade Bloodlines also made by trokia games.I wish they were still around.

The best game, in the sense that the very first game which I played and liked it instantly was Rayman 2 The Great Escape :P

But now my all time favorite is Metro 2033 for story/gameplay and Lost Planet Extreme Condition for character design.

I wish ubisoft made a new rayman, instead of making future soldier worse with more updates.

lemme see hard to say best game i played

one of the classics

Baldurs gate

" if you can handle massive expansion pack this is your game"

Baldurs Gate is all about patience and leveling , throughout the game you eventually learn how deep is the story become when you install all the available content on the classic era.

The story follows the journey of the player-controlled protagonist around the Sword Coast region, which lies on the west coast of the continent Faerûn, as this character grows up and learns of his or her unusual origins following the cataclysmic Time of Troubles. Development of this player character (PC), and an accompanying party of diverse companions, occurs through interactive dialogue, exploration, and numerous battle skirmishes. The game provides rewards to the PC according to the morality of the choices made by the player.

Age of mytholgy

" damn this game is addicting"

.... i'm not gonna flame age of empires on this one , seriously i rather picked this then age of empires 2 why perks , magic, ancient beasts and mods.

Rise of nations

" did you ever see how massive this game when it has expansions"

another great game , if you love Real time Strategy... not much to say about this one.

Crysis

" Sexiest game ever made?"

aside from the first " Real life like gaming" remember how they started far cry and looks garbage, when crysis released my brother went nuts on it. " thats when before skyrim even born"

Far Cry

" Well if you into africa adventures pick the sequels"

so i never understand how far cry story works on my end , but it sure did have some memorable gameplay, it's first time i seen a survival game in a wild life country afrika, but aside from a very long walk it has some bad ass mods that people made for the game.

Warcraft III Reign of chaos/Frozen throne

" ack don't shoot my knee with an arrow " XD

well you know how medieval turn into mischief gaming on the pc, sure everyone hates " WOW " and we know it's a shitty game to begin with ( no offense to other gamer who loved wow) is just my opinion you mad bro?, anyway warcraft 3 is fun i love the epic story on that game but blizzard damn you they cancelled the sequels shet! :(.

" Best of all time " Game doesn't defined what others would say it's experience what made it's best to play.

I agree, screw what the haters say Crysis 1 and 2 were great games for different reasons. Crysis 1 was just jaw dropping, not to mention very fun and the AI was the best I have seen. Crysis 2 has even better graphics (with the HD package) and it's incredibly fun and well optimized. This game runs smooth as butter even with tons of stuff going on. I don't like EA very much but I give them credit when it is due and it was due for these games.
