Hobbies?

I know you guys are gamers and/or modders. That's a given, right? But what other hobbies do people here have? Do you have any other time wasters you're passionate enough about to put some time and effort into?

I have a few, have had more. Over the years some hobbies come and go it seems. But I've been really passionate about and put lots of time into several outdoors activities. I love to hike, camp, hunt, fish, ride dirt bikes and one of my most favorite pastimes is archery (yes, some bowhunting, but 10 1/2 months out of the year it's just competitive target archery). I've also been heavily into model building (and customizing).

So whatcha' guys do for fun besides gaming/modding?

Playing piano and writing stories. Unfortunately I barely find myself doing either of them lately, which is sad because almost every time I am eager to play or write the time simply isn't appropriate. Right now for example; I'd play a few songs if I could, but it's in the middle of night here in Germany, that just would be too loud for the neighbors.

I write now and again, but not nearly as much as I would like. I only do it when the mood strikes me, and that doesn't happen very often anymore.

Other than that and playing games, I guess another is buying models and putting them together, Mainly Gundam, but also ZOIDS... though it's a hobby I don't partake in too much. Most of the models I want are way too expensive; I cannot justify dropping 300+ USD on Master Grades or 150+ USD on a Blade Liger model.

Model collecting.  They then collect dust.  I go for aircraft almost exclusively, though I have a ship or two.  My paints are all way far gone, and I've just never gotten around to replacing them.  Same for the glues.

Write music.

Listen to music

Can't live without music. I'll blow my head off if I ever go deaf.

I used to spend most of my free time hunting until i moved to city. Now i spend some time playing on my PC but my passion is centered around hunting and general outdoors stuff. I do allot more tanning and hide working for other people than i do for myself now but i like the fact hand making buckskin is one of those things that has never died out and seeing how much other people enjoy my efforts makes all the unpleasant smells that come along with brain tanning hide worth it.

Since as far back as i can remember i loved metalworking and for the past five or so years i have gotten into custom knife making. I almost exclusively work in used metal such as worn out files and saw blades (carbon-steel based) along with wooden hardware, I've tried synthetic materials and animal horn for the handles and sheath but nothing beats maple and walnut for strength and light-weight. The vast majority of what i make is geared toward hunters and backpackers, who prefer light and simple. I leave the collecting art style and fantasy work to others.

Aside from my redneck pastimes i devote the rest of my time to interweb porn (henti), work, and as much sleep as i can get away with.

Awesome. A fellow redneckian, huh?

I've tanned hides myself (years ago I even worked on a fox and mink farm). But I seldom bother with that anymore and give most of my deer hides away.

I've also made and sold custom knives, although that's come to nearly a standstill these days. I've also re-used metals to make them, as well as use materials like buffalo horn (makes nice looking bolsters when polished), natural stag and deer antler and even made a handle once using copper bolsters/pins/lanyard hole and white marble for the handle scales (that was custom ordered of course). I have a friend who hooks me up with used up street cutter blades and this makes an excellent knife blade material. Some of these high carbon blades cost upwards of 10 grand so getting the used up blades for free is a major plus.

I actually found a magazine article i wrote back in 2010 when i first decided to take blade making seriously. I couldn't stop laughing at the fact i had no materials to work with what-so-ever. I now have a decent setup after some serious effort where i can machine grind and temper blades but i did feel somewhat nostalgic about how i got started.  http://www.backwoodsmanmag.com/images/Feature%20Article%20PDFs/featarticle_marapr10.pdf

So you're into blackpowder rifles, too? I haven't hunted deer with a cartridge rifle in over 10 years. I use a smokepole or a bow and that's it, although I do use a break action inline magnum during the regular rifle season.
