Hypnotics opening sentence contains the word 'apparently'. 

 

4chan release a press statement - 'the most amazing way 4chan could possibly respond' according to Hypnotic.

The first line of the text of this press release (the third paragraph) begins "According to press reports . . .".

 

A quick perusal of the Ofcom website reveals:

Note that Ofcom was already looking at 34 websites before adding 11 more including 4chan.

Meanwhile screen shows a document with the title "Dutch Regulator Pressures X, Facebook, TikTok to Enforce EU Censorship Rules Ahead of October Election".

So we have 'Dutch regulators' and 'EU censorship rules' neither of which have anything to do with the UK or the OSA. And we have 'election' so it has nothing to do with children.

The fine is now described as "20,000 a day plus extra penalties". (1:08).

Most of us Brits think the OSA is pointless. It's just driven us all to VPNs instead. So now the government won't be able to track our internet history as we're all using foreign VPNs. So next they'll try and go after those foreign VPN providers. Scammers are also creating fake "Please show ID" pop-ups that go to phishing sites, so all this ID verification has just given another tool to the scammers.

Tracking your Internet history is not the purpose of the OSA. The purpose of the OSA is to ensure providers of adult content employ age-verification in order to restrict minors gaining access to said adult content.

My recommends are full of left and right wing nonsense as I like to see both sides of an issue. I'm also fascinated by the psychology of 'content creators' and the people who post in their comments sections.

 I tried Freetube the other day but it kept throwing up errors so I binned it.

I've said it before, but I suspect next on the horizon will be laws requiring VPN providers to be gov't-approved. And part of the approval will require VPN providers to maintain logs and to make them available to law enforcement.
