Its good to know that this worked. From your screenshot I see that the alias for the "DeliverySpot" isnt filled, which is unexpected. This should be fine on the current run. For now you should be able to complete this quest. 

 

If the repeatable version ever fails, you can talk to wally to abort this quest, so you will not get stuck again. Otherwise you could completely avoid the repeatable one by choosing the dialog option with towertom to kill him (this option appears two times).

 

EDIT: If you decide for the peaceful solution and get problems on the repeatable version, i can provide you with a console command which will stop it, so you dont have to fail at wally.

How often are you supposed to receive the repeatable version? I've finished the main content that is currently available, and I've yet to receive it.

I have run into an issue (or two).

 

I have a quest "(Fetch) Find the (TRW) Toolcase at Federal Ration Stockpile" but there is no toolcase where the quest marker is located (in the lone chapel by the stockpile).

 

Also, and this might be related, or might be unrelated and maybe is not a problem but maybe is a hint about a problem: I keep getting messages about how I cannot get the next quest because I first need to complete the current story quest. But that current quest seems to be "Triggerwoman: Intermission" where the quest stage message is "Wait for things to come".

Unfortunately, I don't have time to try this mod yet. But Little Pawn was one of the coolest quest mods I've played for Fallout and Skyrim. You've written a great description, complete with pictures. I'm looking forward to the moment when I'll have a chance to play it.

Perhaps by then, the storyline of The Old Neighbourhood will be expanded.

This quest points to the general location by default, the item must be somewhere "nearby". If you can find it, use the Triggerwoman Manager Holotape to move the marker to the item. If you did already but there is no item, use the other option from the holotape.

As above, the marker points to the location, not the item by default. If I remember right, you'll find it on the western street at boston common. Or use the Triggerwoman Manager Holotape to move the marker to the item.

 

@sen4mi ans @km61569 It is possible that the item can be placed on an unreachable spot. Not because i made it so, it is just a randomly chosen spot with some conditions. If that happens, let me know where and i will exclude it on the next update.

I love the quest with piper, will her story continue in that gang? Also will she have more scenes with reynard or with some other guys?

Thank you! Yes, I want to continue this part of the mod too. But I can't say much about future scenes, because my plans on the old neighborhood are pretty vague

(why a holotape instead of a debug screen in MCM? (edit: I really dislike out-of-character holotapes, since they get in the way and they do not make sense to me, and I already have far too many things in my misc items inventory. I mean, I guess I have to deal with them to some degree, but just like I try to avoid clothing that clips through my character's body, I also try to avoid admin holotapes. further edit: oh, the option to put the quest marker on the container is in mcm!))

 

Anyways, I got it to locate the toolcase - it was not inside the church. Instead, it was outside the church on the other side of another building. (From the clues, I had been looking inside the stockpile, though I did go over every inch of the church a few times. I am not sure how I was supposed to know to look where it was. I think the quest would have been better if it had said "near the church by the rations stockpile" with no quest marker.)

 

But now I am stuck without user controls after a "guard scene", because I let the animation finish rather than telling aaf to end it. And, I had to roll back the game to the start of that day - I could not re-enable player controls, and I was also stuck in third person. And, since there was no furniture in the location I did not have any of the usual workarounds for getting out of being stuck in third person. Also, fighting was disabled (and epc 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 did not enable it for whatever reason), so I could not enter VATS to try that mechanism to get out of third person.

Thats a good suggestion for a better objective. I see what I can do, but as of now it is really random with the most possible locations, instead of handpicked locations. 

 

Now that i currently have no access to the CK, I am a little unsure about that, but i dont remember disabling playercontrols on the guard scene (you mean the sell smokes quest right?) It starts just an AAF scene as usual, so I am sure something else went wrong. But I will double check that as soon as I can.

Yes, it was the guard scene. I guess I will try running through it again and maybe show a screenshot of how things look for me when I finish, if I get stuck in that scene again (though there's not much to see - and if I make a save and reload the game, the game is completely black).

Okay, just looked into it. I was unsure if i made it impossible to escape or not if the guard forcegreets you, because i like that and also made this quest months ago, but I didnt disable any playercontrols on this occasion.

 

Its just a normal dialogue with the optional AAF scene and no additional stuff. I also tested it to try to reproduce this behaviour (both options "not to rough" and "be quick"), both at full length of the anim and also with a quick AAF end but everything was in order. I have no idea, why it would behave the way you described.

last week I have cobbled together the hopefully last beta version. I didnt release it, because i was going to be away this week. But it turns out, i will also be away for another week from sunday on. So I post it here for the most brave ones who want to try it out and are willing to do without any support for a week :)

-added: Difficulty Setting at the MCM for the repeatable Fetch Quest. @katrina.balanchuk

    Hard: As before, almost every location in the commonwealth, except the glowing sea and some important vanilla quest related locations

    The rewards scale with the difficulty and hard gives you more than before, but i still kept the rewards on the lower side of the balancing. 

    *Let me know if an easy location is too hard or the rewards too low on the higher difficulties (you can change the caps rewards by changing the payment modifier in the mcm.)

So, I'd seen the author of Nuka Ride comment on here so decided to give your mod a try.  So far, really like this beta and I'm going to keep following the updates!  I did find a potential bug, though.  This is just a report and I've already gone back to an older save to redo it, so no help needed 🖤

I was on the quest "Business Casualties" and I'm sure it's because I did something unexpected in the mod, but may cause some other underlying issues too for players.  I kinda did the tasks out of order, and the first thing I did was start to pick up the 10 junk items.  I could only find 9 out of 10 even after scouring the whole place from top to bottom, but figured maybe I needed my eyes to sorta readjust a little, like when you leave a problem and come back to it you're better at completing it sorta thing, so I continued the other tasks.  I finished everything except for the junk items, and when I returned to the base after dealing with shaking down the woman with Jefferson, I started to try to find the 10th item.  Nothing.  So, now I'm kinda locked in that quest at that stage.  I could easily bypass it with setstages or go back to one of my saves from right before I collected the junk (I hard save, uh, a lot) but I thought I'd mention that this happened in case it's useful.

 

I'm using the most up to date beta/voices, the only mods I have are Nuka Ride and all of it's requirements and a few recommended by it, cheat terminal, and place everywhere.  I tried to repeat the same "path" turning off place everywhere just in case (that mod can really mess some mods up) and it still locked me even without it so I don't think it's conflicting.  Cheat terminal should not, and I know JB has played this using a Norita or Nora character, so I don't think this is a mod conflict, but I figured I'd mention those anyway.  I have it at the bottom of load order just above Nuka Ride, and that's the very very bottom.  Swapping the load order of the two causes a lot of crashes so did not fix it.  

 

I previously, on the quest before "Business Casualties", did the same process and noticed I could only find 8, did the rest of the quest, returned to the base and 2 more junk items were there that I could swear were not there before, but it let me complete that task.  It works just fine if you do these tasks in order but seems to have potential issues if you do the tasks out of their order

 

Also a bonus suggestion:

This mod recognizes if you have changed your name in Nuka Ride (which is my favorite mod, so take this suggestion with a huge bag of salt) but it doesn't really differentiate which route you took, and it could possibly add something to your world building to recognize the two different states you could be in.  For example I tinkered with this mod as virgin Norita which means not only would I be a virgin (which could add funny commentary or questions from people in the faction to develop their characters) but I'd also be the youngest member there.  The dialogue kinda sounded more like it would fit the Nora route or someone who is older.  For players who are not using NR, you could do something similar.  Have an option for you to be younger and thus maybe members of the faction are surprised you're doing so well for someone so young or understanding when you mess up but blame your age vs blame you, and if older then they expect more of you so when you do well you get little recognition for it while failure they expected better.  And add some commentary with the members of the faction.  Even if it's you overhearing conversations or something.  This could help to sorta bring a little more life to the base.

 

I noticed it's a little...quiet?  I know this is just a beta and I'm not complaining or anything, I just think it would be cool to have a little more character development in the faction and this would do that as well as fill some of the silence.  I like just hanging out at the base, but it's super quiet, definitely need radio on lol

I was going to try the commands first, but if you are recommending not to, there I'd better do new. No sense sending you to chase down ghosts that might only exist by using an old version. I do prefer the immersion of starting from the vault, so I'll have to disappoint Wally again...poor Wally....  🤷‍♀️

These Junk Items are intentionally placed to be easy to miss. I have some trouble finding them in time (against the time trial) too every now and then. But they should always be there.

 

If you don't finish it, you may temporarily "softlock" your progress, because you only get new tasks if the active ones are all done and you wont get any new quests if you cant complete the taskcounter. But this can be solved by either finding them eventually, or you talk to wally (Lets talk about work) and tell him you cant complete it (its a larger dialog tree because i had to split the options). The miniquest will then be failed and you can continue getting new tasks and by that new quests. This works for all miniquests (except the washer). The order of events shouldnt be of any issue.

 

I absolutely agree about the "life" in the base. Sometimes I think it would be nice if it feels more like a home, with random things happening. For example you sit down somewhere and then one of the NPCs, Yasmine for example sits down next to you, offers you a beer (or a cola) and starts a random conversation about the recent events and so on. At some point I like to do it (I already planned to do something like that on my other mod, but never got the time), but it is a lot of extra work. I think it is worth it, but as of now i focus more on quest stuff, because that already takes ages for me.  :)

 

If you have a cool idea for a new origin of the player, let me know. I can bind it to a unique name.

I thought it kinda interesting that you looked at it with a Nora vibe, I totally went the other way. I tend to use my characters from the stuffs I'm working on to give them a beginning, so mine all come from there, all generally younger.

 

For here, the no nonsense one is Marfa whose father in pre war was the vicious head of the Russian mob on the east coast. He is her favorite, thus her name. She escapes her 'boyfriend' who tries to roofie her when they and her bff are in Concord for the day. Seeing the bombs on tv, she steals a bike and with her special black credit card sized id, bullies her way into 111 taking someone else's spot. Not a flawless seque here, but it works.

 

Then I have another who is not so well off and generally ends up on the short end of the stick. Her early story I am still fleshing out.

 

Anyway, I guess absent any direct cannon or statements to the contrary in game, you can be whatever or whomever you want to 🤷‍♀️ Just use the same character set up and voila! 🤣🥂

If you don't finish it, you may temporarily "softlock" your progress, because you only get new tasks if the active ones are all done and you wont get any new quests if you cant complete the taskcounter. It's possible they just didn't load for some reason in those particular playthroughs for me.  It's good to know how to solve that, I didn't even think about going to Wally about it 😅that's a "duh" moment for me for sure!!

I absolutely love your idea of Yasmine sitting down to chat with the PC, maybe Jefferson could be fun.  I find him endearing.  You could definitely make that a little side conversation and could also be a good way to build their characters in the future.  Discuss new locations that unlock them on your map if you haven't been there might be kinda cool, especially if you're playing this mod early on (or in my case if you've been in Nuka World for so long that nothing is really on the map), maybe that could be Jefferson and then Yasmine can discuss events going on at and with the base.  Maybe kinda like a therapy type thing ask how the PC is doing/feeling, and options like "I'm really enjoying working with everyone here, it's like a family", "I'm still unsure if I really fit in, but that's a risk I was willing to take", or "I don't like how things are done around here at times, and I feel like a criminal" similar to another dialogue option you've had.  For your darker character, middle ground character, or hero route.  It wouldn't have to really change or add anything, other than a way to express thoughts by the PC, but that might help make the PC feel more of a connection to Yasmine.  She seems really cool, I'd definitely have a beer and a cigarette with her!!

Oh that's so interesting, it's like an "art is subjective" moment in real life!  I think after having essentially been babied since the day I emerged from the vault as Norita, by everyone from the grandparents to the raiders, it felt more like being treated like a real adult finally, which was great from the perspective of having wanted that all along, but felt strange considering you're probably 18/19 around that time and there's no concern from anyone in the faction that I may not understand how things work yet at that age

 

I may try again as Nora and see if it changes how I view the interactions, but I think for a genuinely young person especially one who is essentially infamous for being the "golden globes virgin girl" and is known in every bar and town in the commonwealth, once you reveal that I feel like it would make sense to sorta change how the player is treated, but then also understand how difficult it would be to write out all those scenarios 😅

 

Ooooh yours is sooooo cool! I have played once and now a second time, both of mine were Noritas coming from NW, so none of my original characters just yet.

 

I was thinking of adding one of my Noritas that's more fleshed out, and I will not be offended if you do not read this, or all of this 🖤the TLDR is strong with this one

before the bombs her mom was a nurse who left the hospital when the war became more likely and a dad who owned a conglomerate that pushed small businesses into selling, getting bigger which meant larger companies had to sell to them, until he became extremely wealthy, but most of the harmful pushing and demands for companies to sell was being done without his knowledge, and his original goal was to help people who had failing businesses get some money out of it that was enough to help them get by and maybe even move to another place through one of his connections to work (like Lamar).  My character, Kallie, was anti-government and an anarcho-socialist but because of everything going on she had to hide all of that even from her best friend, Isabella, who she had a secret crush on. 

 

She felt like she couldn't tell anyone and that the true her was bottled up (which is funny since Isabella felt the same way for her...activities) and that she was alone, she was depressed and felt like she had every advantage except the drive to do anything that was at her fingertips.  She chose acting, and was in school for it.  She spent money on an unlimited credit card often, and usually it was to buy large amounts of small items and hand them out in the camps where unhoused people were confined, and bus fare for long trips to these centers, but she would tell everyone that she was spending it on makeup and jewelry when her parents would occasionally question it.  Then the bombs fell and she ended up in NW for NR and she could finally be what she felt she was always meant to be, though she was being babied just like in the prewar.  When she finally was able to go out and explore is when she joined up with the Triggermen, with very little knowledge of the wasteland other than its dangers.  She believes in alliances over war, obedience is both a trade and must be earned but if earned to your standards should be honored, loyalty and honesty are core values, and that people should be free to do as they please so long as nobody gets hurt, thus some reservations with how things are done here, but much like in NW, sometimes uncomfortable actions have to be taken so she's looking for the answer as to whether or not it is actually necessary to take certain actions, or if it would be better to form an alliance

Due to limitations it is more feasable to read the characters name, so if you have a special background story for a "Genevieve", i could make it be available if the character was named as such at start. It is very difficult to do it the other way round (like first the origin and then the name). Apart from the NR names currently only "Nora" is considered as a unique player name and origin from the start. It only applies if the character is actually named "Nora" (and it has its special lawyer way on one quest). The result could be a dialog option like "Hi, I'm Genevieve (Seasoned Thief with a heart for the poor)". For example the 4 different colours represent the 4 dialog choices we have. The additional ones are handled by conditions (Vault Dweller and Wastelander are just always available as fallback options):

I remember some of that first paragraph from a post we were sharing on stories in an NR thread. The rest of it sounds cool. She has a whole world in need of help now! So, Isabella is her love interest (LI)? That's cool to meet again after all this time. Now they're all like "Screw the fear of rejection. The whole world went to hell, that puts things in perspective. I'm going to talk to her." 😁

 

Are you writing a story around it?

 

For Marfa, I've amended it from the story to not be caught by slavers, sold to the overboss only for him to discover he kinda likes her...  In this version, she sees the horrors up front and joins trigger gang not knowing about NR...at least not yet. We'll have to see what magic Heinzelman has in store for us. 😁🥂
