FallenWarrior Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Sid Meier's Pirates (nice graphics but Pirates Gold was more fun)
Snoopy911 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 ... 10. The fucking multiplayer, Mass Effect is a single player game so shoehorning multiplayer into it and then forcing us to play it to get the best possible ending despite stating that it wasn’t required is bullshit. ... Exactly my thoughts than i tried it and tried it a little bit more and i still play it sometimes. I played another online shooter when me was released and i was quite annoyed about being killed by cheaters again and again. The pure coop mode of me multiplayer seems to attract a lot less cheaters and that was kind of an refreshing experience and brought back fun in playing online again.
Kaz Aanh Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 ME3 is for the following: 1. Liara being forced down our throats; she’s not an interesting character, is too specialised combat wise, has the most alternate costumes and is just a fucking Creator’s Pet in general Iconic character, what to say. Same in Skyrim everyone favs Lydia. 2. Lack of new squadmates, there are a grand total of TWO new squadmates in the main game, one of whom isn’t technically “new” and you only get a third one if you get From Ashes. They could’ve at least dropped a couple of characters (I’d say Tali and Liara or if push comes to shove the Virmire survivor) for a few new characters, or better yet just added them anyway. I preffered less squadmates than milions of them like they did it in the ME2 , in the end everyone had a shallow personallity and was boring. It was really nice to see how your companions were evolving through every mass effect game. This is something really great , take a look at Liara . How her character changed from the first game. Or Garrus , depending on your choices he could end as a good or bad cop. I also didn't forget about Ashley/Kaidan , from a racist christian and xenophob she started to like and befriend alien squadmates in the ME3, again becouse of your actions. Games feels progressive. 9. The Dream sequences, I get that they’re supposed to show what Shepard is going through but they’re tedious and, on a purely personal level, my sense of direction in gaming (I managed to get lost in a completely linear dungeon in Guild Wars once) sucks I get turned around in those things so many times and it starts to feel like its padding I got lost there too . It wasn't funny I had to run for 15 mins to finally find this little shit. 10. The fucking multiplayer, Mass Effect is a single player game so shoehorning multiplayer into it and then forcing us to play it to get the best possible ending despite stating that it wasn’t required is bullshit. You don't need to play it at all. The worst thing about war assets is that after 3000+ they are rather useless and don't do anything. Also you could replace 1 file and get 100% galatic readiness without playing MP at all. MP was also a fun experience, they did lots of events and free updates to it. It was clear they were testing MP function in this franchise, I would like to see it again and improved. 13. The Endings, ignoring the fact we get a choice between 3 different cupcakes (pre-EC) and the fact that they pull the synthesis ending out of nowhere or the fact that the Starchild is the most annoying character in the entire fucking series (just edging out Kai Leng who’s a dick) or that the multiplayer had more time spent on it or that you don’t know what happens to your squad (both pre and post EC) but the fact it’s the ENDING of the series (I will refuse to accept ME 4 as canon when it comes out) and it’s just so shit is like a kick to the balls for the people who sunk all that time in the series, it feels as if I wasted that time. This is what happens if you go under the EA wings, it was pretty much rushed in my opinion. The worst ending ever made, not satysfying at all. Unlike ME2 which was perfect. ME3 was supposed to be a epic ending of the shepard trilogy. . .
SkyrimFreak Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 GTA 5 (single player in particular). R* looks like it's going the road of Icarus, the Dodo, Dinosaur and the EA Borg. Either that or they're really going senile.....

prideslayer Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 For me it has to be Dishonored and ME3. I absolutely agree with you on ME3. It's the only buyers remorse I have for a game that gave me the same feeling for other games as well; The ending and child were so cheap that they actually ruined the first two games for me. That said, I have some issues with your criticism. 1. Liara being forced down our throats; she’s not an interesting character, is too specialised combat wise, has the most alternate costumes and is just a fucking Creator’s Pet in general Liara wasn't bad. Maybe a bit of a mary sue, definitely some fan service (like Mirandas ass wasn't). I hated Thane, Jacob, and Zaeed with a homicidal passion. Thank jeebus none of them returned in a meaningful way in ME3. 6. “Forgetting” past events, especially noticeable in From Ashes when Shepard can see the Prothean data and your squadmates can’t. This was mentioned in ME1 with a Prothean VI on Ilos that Shepard could understand but your squadmates couldn’t, it was ourtright stated that the fact Shepard was able to understand it was because s/he had the cipher in ME1 it would make sense that it’s because of the cipher that s/he can understand whereas their squadmates who don’t have the cipher can’t. That’s the main example, but there are others. The cipher allowed Shepard to understand the visions from the beacon, and the Prothean language.. I'm not sure what you mean about other squadmates not being able to see things or things being forgotten? Vigil (the prothean VI from ME1) was seen, heard, and understood by the entire squad; not just Shepard. The only thing Shepard alone (except for Saren) saw were the images from the beacon. I will refuse to accept ME 4 as canon when it comes out Even if it turns the entire ME3 ending into a dream sequence and gives you some real endings to choose from? But seriously, I didn't know until I just read this that there was even going to be another game in the franchise. Chance of me buying it are about one in a million, let alone accepting (or caring) about it's status as canon in the trilogy universe. The franchise is dead to me.

Ignore that the player in this video picked the lamest voice.

Not Vigil, it's the Prothean VI you speak to to open the doors that Saren went through at the start of that mission the one that's all fractured and repeats "they cannot be stopped" over and over; your squadmates comment that it was the cipher that allowed Shepard to understand it
ChancellorKremlin Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Hmmn... can't really get behind the ME3 hate eclipses entire franchise bandwagon for reasons I've made abundantly clear elsewhere... ... but I'd like to nominate Rome Total War 2 for this thread - an absolute pile of garbage that manages to be worse off in almost every way than its namesake predecessor. It was technically not a waste of my money as my GF got it for my birthday, but wow. I wasn't expecting anything as good as RTW, but nowhere near anything so catastrophically bland by comparison either.

Along with season passes for 3 and 4. I hear the first is only for the first XBox? But i do love the DubStep gun, Popstar version As for ME3, there are things in it that bother me much more than the ending. Namely that ridiculous ninja character wearing plot armor with cutscene incompetence aura...
spaniel77 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 ... A few games to mention are Bioshock Infinite and Assassins Creed 3. Assassins Creed 4 was... okay, better than 3. Assassins Creed 3 was fucking HORRID. Bioshock Infinite was... honestly it's probably my second most overrated game of all time, possibly my most overrated game of all time. Both of these games were games that I didn't buy, but my family bought so I don't give them buyers remorse. ... I'm kinda with you on AC3. I recently replayed it before beginning Liberation and AC4. I don't regret buying it but I believe that it marks the point in the franchise where it all started to go wrong for Ubisoft. The ending kinda sucked too. Not really played much of AC4 yet so I can't comment on that, but there are parts of AC3 where I was screaming at the screen in rage and frustration at how badly it was done. One other mention is Final Fantasy X. I HATE Final Fantasy X and X-2, but I bought them knowing I was going to hate them, but wanted to play through them anyway. I didnt regret buying it, because I knew I was going to hate it anyway. I loved Final Fantasy X but I am kind of with you again on X-2; didn't enjoy that as much as I thought I would. I mainly got it to complete the story between Tidus and Yuna. I don't know about anyone else, but the games I always regret buying are FIFA / Football Manager games. I love Football Manager but both franchises have just become a repackaging of old content, but for some reason I still persist in the vain hope that one day they will be done properly. FIFA still contains a game breaking bug that's existed since FIFA 11.

I used to buy each FIFA game (from 2009 to 2012) yearly but stopped after 2012 (the first and so far only game I've traded in) because it was so shit, they managed to make it worse imo.
Pixie-K Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 While I don't have many actual game purchases I've regretted, there are some games I regret trying. I've purchased a few Humble Bundles, and spent only a dollar each time, and of course there's that ONE game I wanted while the rest are junk to me. I'd have to say I regret buying The Binding of Isaac, and it's DLC The Wrath of the Lamb. The game is meant for cocaine addicts on a caffeine trip, apparently. I also regret making some in-game purchases, such as using real money to buy game currency. All Points Bulletin (APB) is one hell of a corporate run cash sponge. IMVU and Gaia Online were other past mistakes of that variety.
demongoat Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 bleh i felt burned on fable 3 so bad, i was so looking forward to the weapon morphing, and some great voice acting. the VA was good but the story was shit. another game was warhammer 40k:soul storm, but it was mainly because the game was fucking broken due to the devs going under right before it was finished and thq releasing it. i get burned by a lot of mmos mostly, like WoW, i feel like i wasted a lot of money on a game my friends liked and i never could. mostly because the classes bored me. oh yeah and scarletblade online, i bought a damn underware remover during beta just to do it once and man that shit is expensive. that fucking game is a scam and i hope the ceo of aeria games dies in a plane crash for being a greedy asshole.
