Buyers remorse~~

So what was your most regreted game that you ever bought? Probably something from Steam and its sales, many people fall in this trap.

Mine first was a RAGE , this game was horrible and nearly unplayable. It had lots of graphical bugs and crashes. I wasn't able to finish this game. Why did they shipped an unfinished game? Ridiculous.

Another one was a Portal 2 but this time ,a friend bought this game as a gift for me. He wanted to do some coop play , well I've agreed becouse it would make him feel bad but that was the worst playthrough for me.

I've just wished to finish this game asap. Portal 1 was okay but 2nd kinda boring . . ? Not my type of games.

Max Payne 3 (don't buy it on Steam) fucked everyone over pretty bad. None of the dlc works because Steam and Rockstar Social Club don't get along. After finishing the game I only wanted to play the Painful Memories dlc, but none of them even work. I got Silent Hill 3 as a present a long time ago, but it seems like all the Konami ports to the PC never work-I wish I could of gotten Silent Hill 2, but I hear its the same problem and makes me wonder if it's going to happen to Metal Gear Revengeance on Steam, so I think I'll stay away from anything Konami related too.

i can only remember the first assassin's creed, i really hated that game, most because of it's story than anything else, why did they put that DNA stuff to see past lifes? they could just let us go on a killing spree on the city... anyway good to know about that konami stuff, i was intended of getting metal gear revengeance next week

I could be wrong, but if everything turns out well for that game I may buy it, but seeing as those didn't work I'll hold off for now. I just wish they would port the other late ps2/ps3 metal gears over.

Fable 3.

And amazingly enough, I was somehow lucky enough that even though I bought the new, limited edition version of Fable 2 (and totally loved the game), buying a new version of Fable 3 just didn't cross my mind, even though at the time, I had done no research on it and assumed it would be amazing.

Then I bought a used version of Fable 3. I can't remember for how much. 20? 40?

Either way, I sure as hell fucking regret it.

But to be honest, I probably wouldn't have realized how bad it is without playing it. So.

Saint's Row the Third is a not-so-close second.

(As much as I hate it, it's actually a good game on its own. Fable 3 just plain sucks.)

Hands down Mass Effect 3. Not only one huge dissapointment due to the utter abysmal ending and overall silly story-development, but it ruined the other two games for me as well and made me rue the day I started with that franchise. The only good thing about that purchase is that I now have something to rant about all across the Internet until I get perma-banned from it :P

Then, back in the very old days of black/white gameboy I was unsure wether to buy the game Solar Striker or R-Type...and damn, I bought Solar Striker because I liked the "backgroundstory" on the back of the package more....silly me, I was young...

And then also "King Arthur - the role playing strategy game". I like both RPG and some strategy now and then but this game...I don't think myself stupid but I never really understood this game and couldn't get one ounce of enjoyment out of it...

And very lately, though not yet fully decided, maybe Dishonored as well. It is a nice game, wonderful setting and all but...really...it just doesn't manage to captivate me .. yet. I'll give it some time and get back to it to see if it truly fits into the "wasted money"-slot...but I am already glad I didn't buy it full price :D

Skyrim.

I preordered on steam for the expressed purpose of getting a head start on the new CK an papyrus, to port SexoutNG. Strike one was on launch day, the CK wasn't available. Todd Howard said they would try to have it available at launch, but if it wasn't, it would be "very close." It was finally released three months later, and of course, there was a sale to go along with it.

Strike two was the actual game. Oh how I hate it. It looks beautiful, but as a game, it's boring and aimless, and the UI is absolutely terrible. At this point I actually petitioned Steam for a refund and was denied. I hadn't even played for two hours.

Strike three was the discovery of the missing havok tools when the CK was finally released, coupled with the inability of actors to play "normal" animation files as we know them from oblivion and fallout3/nv, thus requiring all the time and effort that has gone into creating FNIS.

It sits in a steam folder called "shitty games I want a refund for" and I just started playing with it again last month, to see how Sexlab is coming along.

The silver lining in all this is that when FO4 does come out, hopefully, Sexlab porting will be easy, bodyslide and FNIS will work with it, porting skse will be easy, etc. This means I will not have to end up porting Sexout and can focus on playing the game or making my own playable mods rather than tools and frameworks. :)

It was the first time I ever preordered a game, and the last time as well.

Max Payne 3 which I got on the 360 when it was on sale for $40 only 2 weeks after it launched, they still had copies that came with the GTA Stories thing.

1. It was terrible and I still haven't finished it.

2. It was $20 2 weeks after that.

3. It was $20 on the PC 3 or 4 more weeks after that.

AC III which is also terrible and remains unfinished. Bought it for $60 on launch for the 360.

Ride to Hell. I was looking forward to it for a long time because the original concept was amazing. (FAR from what was actually put out. FAR.) Then the damn thing didn't even work on PC because the 360 controller inputs on the QTEs didn't register. They patched it the next week but I still didn't play it again.

I might be adding MGR Revengeance to the list. It seems like the final boss fight is bugged at a spot where you are supposed to activate Blade mode to stop the boss from hitting you but the timing of the punch is so fast you can't react fast enough before the boss hits you <_<

My friend laughs at me becouse I haven't finished Skyrim yet ( Becouse storyline is soo booring, typical generic, casualized and linear medieval fantasy , you are already a born hero just go there and save our asses dragonborn-kun ) .

I just mess around with dressing up my character , posing and taking screens thats how I enjoy the Skyrim. Modding !

Sometimes I think Bethesda just released this bland version of TES Skyrim to let us players shape the game by ourselves. To fill our requirements and enjoy it how do we want.

But for me disabling mfg by Bethesda was already a big hit for me. I bet they don't even want to touch this abonimation of the engine becouse it might explode anytime soon ( engine limitations +haha.png ).

Creation Engine my ass its just a Gamebryo 2.0 held together by a duct tape with a writtings which says "CREATION ENGINE".

Sorry for offtopic In my own thread +cry.png

I could add also to my list Aliens Colonial Marines .Poor campaign, it was just a Call of Duty against androids. I've bought this game to fight against aliens not some humanoids really. This game also had many lore breakers between movies and overall was a crap.

Yep, I think MGR:R is going on my regret buying list at least until they do an update or I figure out WTF is wrong with my game that is stopping me from using blade mode on the last part of the final boss fight.

Ha! Fun thing: I didn't finish the game either, despite the fact Skyrim is my favorite Bethesda-Game since Morrowind. I have a soft spot for harsh landscapes, rough viking culture and dragons, of course. And at least this time the graphics and chars look gorgeous. But truly, the story isn't captivating. But Skyrim is! And the title for most boring generic medieval fantasy setting + dull storyline in a Bethesda-game is still held by Oblivion, that's for sure.

And I hardly finished many games quickly anyway, always starting anew with different chars (Heavy irony inbound: The only game I rushed through like mad was ME3 because I was hellbend to see how the trilogy ended...and again I get to mention it. Casey Hudson is laughing his sorry ass off, I bet...)

Anyway, due to this thread I looked through my game-archive once more and have to say: Not too many games I bought actually fill the remorse-category. Many games I was dissapointed with, but still enjoyed to some degree...Hmm...I guess it is wise to inform oneself before  purchase and not blindly buy due to hype (full circle back to ME3 ... I really need another therapy-session on this... :D )

I cannot believe no one mentioned this one.

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.

Oh mannnnn.. After waiting over a decade.. yes, a fucking DECADE, for it's release, it flops so bad I couldn't even finish it. From extreme bugginess, to moronic AI. This game was pure shit all around. Advertised "babes in game" were few and far between, mostly in cut scenes. Monsters were made difficult only by increasing their hit points, not their abilities. If you're going to 'go modern', do it. If you're going to 'go retro', do it. Just don't go half-and-half and end up failing to appease fans of both approaches.

Not even cheat codes could save this piece-of-shit.

That game actually came out?!

Looking it up, it was actually 15 years, not 11. I was really waiting for it myself for 5 or 6 of those years, then kinda forgot about it. Duke3D pipe bombs and laser trip mines FTW!

I would've loved to have liked LA Noire. I just can't. Aside from the fact the PC port is so much crap it grinds my pc down to a halt (admittedly, I could upgrade my video card etc, but if I can play GTAIV & Max Payne 3 without a hitch, LA Noire has no right to fuck me over), by the time you're halfway through you realize it's just boring.

Here's one I just remembered-Dead Space 3. I try playing this game on the PC but its coop setup is so lame-I can't even choose who I get to coop with so sometimes I get put with newbies who walk around getting attacked by everything instead of running through dangerous areas. I preordered the game and expected to play online all the way through, but EA/Origins help page for the game didn't even list the ports that needed to be opened for online coop. EA should of let Steam distribute the game instead of Origin.

On another note the PC version of Ground Zeros has been canceled-PS3/4,X360/X1 only. Hopefully Revengeance changes Konami's mind-which also looked to be having problems on the PC lol.

This is actually a game I regret wasting money on (got the complete edition cheap on sale a year ago), not that I had any problems with playing it. But the boring plot and not to mention some of the bloody cases.

If you murder your wife in broad daylight, who the hell would be so stupid to burn her bloodied stuff outside, in the garden in plan view of the neighbors that lives right next door.

i dont have buyers remorse with skyrim but i was definitely slightly dissapointed, it just doesnt have the depth that the other elder scrolls games have and i found the story incredibly bland and boring

TF2, bought it with HL2EP2. It was dumbed down and noobed up, nothing like TFC which I loved. Then when it turned into a fagsim where the game became all about strutting around in rainbow colored hats and costumes, this was when I realized that my favorite genre, 1st person multiplayer FPS, was no longer about skill but collecting items and hats. Should've seen it coming with how the CoD series was going but I stayed as far away from that steaming pile as humanly possible.

Skyrim, pretty much the same reasons as TF2, dumbed down, noobed up, boring as fuck. First it was multiplayer FPS, now it was RPG FPS going down the drain.

These and other disappointments such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, forced me to lament that the golden age of gaming was over and it's all gone mainstream stupid.
