MrGrey Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 MO2 doesn't like Script extenders. Okay, fine. I'll just install it manually. Except I can't, because of some shadow directory kept by MO2. If you put it in manually like a usual mod then MO2 won't see it. I tried this several times. Vortex knows how. Mo2 doesn't. Is there a python extension for script extenders in MO2? Everyone talks up MO2 and I can see some of the advantages.. but this is a "can't use MO2" issue. How do you install script extenders (either for Fallout or Skyrim) and make it work with MO2, which has advantages but until i learn how to install script extenders, MO2 is pretty useless to me. If you're gonna call me an idiot, at least explain how to install script extenders explicitly like I'm an idiot, okay? That's would be constructive. InB4: RTFM... says on their git page they don't have much of a manual, and they only explain the obvious, and their Nexus page locked comments and says to use their discord, and discord is the devil's work.
Grey Cloud Posted April 28, 2025 Posted April 28, 2025 It might help if you say which particular 'script extenders' you are having trouble with. 12 minutes ago, MrGrey said: If you put it in manually like a usual mod then MO2 won't see it. That does not make any sense. If you are using MO2 then why do you 'put it in manually'? Mods should be installed. 21 minutes ago, MrGrey said: If you're gonna call me an idiot, at least explain how to install script extenders explicitly like I'm an idiot, okay? That's would be constructive. Okay then. There are videos on how to install SKSE and all sorts of other mods with MO2. GamerPoets are always a good starting point. There are good written guides here on LL. For SE https://www.loverslab.com/topic/136543-mod-organizer-2-other-tools-from-zero-to-hey-sexlab-is-working/ https://www.loverslab.com/topic/118460-skyrim-se-for-beginners-v-319-3bbb-hdt-smp-hph/ https://www.loverslab.com/topic/200681-skyrim-ae-for-beginners-v-2915-3ba-hdt-smp-hph-wip/ https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94228-se-compatibility-tracking-apr-23/ https://www.loverslab.com/topic/126227-sexlab-index-se/ Did it occur to you at any point that you seem to be the only person having this problem? All installed as per the instructions and without problems.

If you install SKSE by manually placing the files in the correct location (aka root folder of your game installation, where the skyrimse.exe file exists) MO2 will automatically add its executable to the list of MO2 executables and you can use that to launch the game with SKSE as expected. Script Extenders can't be fully installed via MO2 out of the box because MO2 specializes in managing files inside \Data and the executable and DLL files from Script Extenders don't go in \Data but the root folder of your game. There are ways to partially or fully install Script Extenders via MO2, taking a few more additional steps or using additional plugins. The most basic manual install works just fine and I have no idea what are you talking about with those shadow directory. Concerning. Edited April 28, 2025 by Just Don't
MrGrey Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 The My Games folder? That's the same one that the saves are in, under documents. Does no good to drop them there. Maybe I don't understand. Even didn't copy over the Steam.dll, and it still tried to start Steam. I've given up, thanks all.

There's one specifically for GOG. What Steam.dll? edit: Wait the SKSE steam loader.dll? That's only found on older versions of SKSE, none of them designed for GOG, you definitely have got the wrong file. Edited April 30, 2025 by Just Don't
Grey Cloud Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 This is what happens when you refuse to use a guide.
MrGrey Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 guide was wrong. Tried the guide. Still didn't properly load.

GamerPoets' guides are not wrong. Everything you have posted in your threads has 'user error' written all over it. Give a link to a guide that you say is wrong.
Just Don't Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 If your task is installing SKSE for Skyrim from GOG and you fail there's something fundamentally wrong with the way you gather and apply information. The official SKSE site has 5 different main files and only one of them has GOG in the name. You don't even need to confirm with exact executable versions, although knowing that information would further help you get the only correct file for you.
nmagod Posted June 5, 2025 Posted June 5, 2025 Both of these are the F4SE loader. I only launch FO4 through MO2 (unless I need a very specific vanilla thing, which I have an entire separate install for. Not light on space, but it's ideal, as it's untouched file-wise) and this is the exact option in it that I use to launch. Why, that's the f4se_loader.exe that was renamed to Fallout4Launcher.exe and if I just hit RUN in MO2... Spoiler in addition I can put mods in manually and MO2 absolutely does detect it, allow me to demonstrate if I put this in the Data directory Spoiler and hit REFRESH in MO2 (or exit and relaunch it), it shows up at the top of the list correctly as seen here Spoiler
