Best Skyrim for mods?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I've completed my Fallout 4 super loverslab moded build. 130+ mods, rock solid and stable. It's amazing!

Now I want to try doing it with Skyrim, but I'm not sure what version of the game I should build around?

Is it better to go SE or original?

Skyrim SE,

After that though it is considering the build of SE that you will run with.

By that I mean version number, on version 1.5.97 an have been able to ignore updates during the time that I locked that in.

Sure there has not been an update for a while but well you know there was an update withen the last 12 months and it seems like we get updates and that potentially wrecks the whole LO.

Other than that,

Maybe check out the mega load order one click download sort of packages over on Wabberjack, think that has been appealing for people these days.  Those are likely built on all sorts of different versions.  Not sure if Wabberjack has a LL type set up over there though and the idea of trying to set up an LL load order on top of a heavily modded LO shudder dont know.

Hey I'm new to this space - do you happen to have a modlist or a post I can access to find your stable mod build?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you just gotta have some creaky old mod that works only on SE ver. 1.5.97, I say always use the latest version of SE that does not require you to pay for the additional AE content. And then, as noted already, make sure to set Steam (assuming you buy it from Steam) to not auto-update. When mods get updated, which they almost always do, eventually, then update your game to the version the updated mods support.

You can't even buy LE off Steam any more, can you? Maybe you can from GOG, dunno.

You can, its just de-listed from store search. GOG never had LE, what it has is basically AE (1.6+). It can't even be downgraded to 1.5.97 like Steam version, because GOG never had SE either.

Not sure if this one comes with the DLC anymore.

It doesn't. Only SE has everything bundled. With LE, you'd need to buy the basic game and all the DLCs seperately.

There is no point in buying LE in this day and age, unless your name is Littlefoot and you really want to stay in The Great Valley forever.

I bought and played the LE version with the DLCs what seems like eons ago on my older Win7 PC and towards the end I was having CTDs quite frequently.

Heavily modded of course and I suspect some of the mods got updated to a different game version, but IDK I just gave up on it.

Now that I have a newer Win10 PC I'm tempted to try it again with the SE version but...

Adding Mods is such a pain, lol.

So the DLCs are still out there? I couldn’t find the steam store pages for them at all.

Yes, they are. Delisted just like the game but still available. If you have LE and all DLC you can access them through Steam client normally. If not you can use roundabout way, like steamdb.info which has links to store pages for each: Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire and High Res Pack.

Also, LE is the only one that has Fall of the Space Core.
