Darach is actually a remnant of an earlier version. I think I probably have him without his jacket somewhere. I'd have it removed if it was redone.

Also, what Zorai said. Even in nudism, some people wear more clothes than others.

Also, can we use the resources files directly in the `a` root file to insert/replace the game files? I assumed I cannot since they're often in png format.

I've been using a fully moded file as a donor but those wouldn't have the few gender exclusive files, as far as I'm aware.

You cannot. You need to use the narcs for that, which you can extract from an already patched version.

*They (Mx. Downbad is nonbinary) wanted all the sprites to be cohesive with each other. They noticed that some sprites in Platinude were higher quality than others, and wanted all of Black and White's sprites to be the same high quality. I'm happy they are so dedicated. 

Plus, they're the only person I know who can edit the super detailed sprites, like the gender selection sprites or the xtransciever sprites.

This is true. I believe we're doing RSE next, until Mx. Downbad finishes Black and White, so as to not rush them.

Also, we have decided that for now, we aren't using existing nude mods as bases, so as to not copy off of them. It would invalidate playing those other ones if half of their sprites were in ours.

I've still gotta make the progress documents for intro biking sprites based on the decompilation (which is harder to go through than crystal's decompilation) since the spriter's resource forgot those.
Everything else should be available for editing based on the spriter's resource.

 

We just need front sprites, back sprites, overworld sprites, the contest hall sprites, the trainer card sprites, Professor Elm's opening sprites, and the intro biking sprites, right?

Or am I forgetting some?

I guess we could do a box wallpaper vote again, since Generation 3 has only 16 box slots but 52 backgrounds in the code.
Though, gen 3 doesn't have and backgrounds with people on it, so we wouldn't be missing out on any edited backgrounds if we just stuck with the normal ones.

Naked in French can be read as "au naturel" and read relatively the same with "em naturel"
It means "in a natural state/ naked"
i just think it plays around the word and potrait the pokemon world a bit more than just bluntly using the world "Nude"

Maybe it could be "ru naturel" and "saph naturel" for the other two.

 

I wonder if we'll ever use "in the buff" for any of the mods.

Maybe we can work on the name a bit later since saph naturel doesn't roll off the tongue that well

Those would fit for a mod where all people and pokemon are super muscular. They're not nude mod material, though.

Nudism doesn't necessary mean wearing nothing at all
We mainly remove the main clothes and keep things like jacket/shoes/ socks is because we mostly consider them accessories that help distinct character


Additionally, a lot of pokemon's trainer sprites was made with these clothing built onto their shape by design. Having to remove them fully can sometime mess up anatomy and put more work on us
Lastly, Viewer doesn't really make the sprites. It's better to ask the sprite editor than Viewer since she's mostly the manager here.

As a nudist myself who practices it. Clothing is not shunned, and many of us still wear parts of clothing depending on the occasion. Some will wear robes when needing to go out in public for a quick thing. Or shoes when going out in general in a safe area for it. Some could wear a jacket if its a bit too cold out and a small jacket is all they need. Some wear belts just to hang stuff on or a fanny pack. Or, again, a light jacket with pockets for carrying certain things.

 

Nudism isn't just about being fully naked with nothing. Its about acceptance of ones body and not being ashamed. Preferring to be more free and in tune with nature. Being comfortable. Only needing it for protection or warmth. Its not about being sexual at all. Misty can still be a nudist while wearing only a jacket.

We're estimated to work on Gen 5 games next. During the time I was out from the scene, I got myself Aseprite. It's a pixel art specialized tool that supports color palette and all, so I won't have to worry about incorrect colors I was worried about in initial batches anymore. I decided to give it a little go with BW1 exclusive trainer sprites.

 

 

...There aren't many. Besides these two, Elesa, Ghetsis and Iris (who I've already drawn), basically everyone from BW1 keeps the same appearance into BW2. It can't be blamed for being the sequel of the game.

Still, that's two more characters I've done, at sometime I'm thinking of-

You know what, makes sense. Observing the progression of GSC there's something about Ethan having detailed muscle lines and all while Red is almost pale white. Not everything can be done equal under collaboration project of this thread.

Doing that alone kinda feels defeating a purpose of said collaboration project but I don't know better... At least I won't be empty handed for a while since I need to port my sprites from photoshop.

I've been there when "they should take everything off" debate went on this thread, it was ultimately decided "not everything has to be exposed for nudity", but I'm actually still on this full nudity side. Going as far as Will's eyemask...

To me my full nudities are for artistic experimentation. It's quite fun to draw convincing anatomies on account of clothing wrapped around their body. I've just started improving on drawing breast now I finally made a seperate layer for it. But I'm still not sure if I can tackle on drawing the body from...

That's a good way to view nudity as a whole. I'm personally not a nudist or exhibitionist a far as I'm concern. I joined in making sprites out of boredom and my want for a sense of community somewhere, even if it's at some corner of the internet, so my view of nudity probably isn't as deep as any person here. So I prompted to focus on how I can make nudity convincing and believable. It's fun to imagine what to add or remove to make it so that it would fit the charaters personality in a world where they are actually a nudist, which just helps comfort the world a bit more than just plain and blunt full nudity in my opinion.

Also since Downbad is working seperately on BW, they probably won't appear much in this thread until they're done with it so communication could be hard. How about taking a shot at BW2's sprites in advance ? It could help keeping the pace and energy when we eventually touch up upon it and you'll be able to contribute a large part of it when we pump out a patch.

That would be a splendid idea.

You could tackle converting the gen 1, 2, & 4 leaders to sprites with limbs based on the sprites we've already made for them, if that's what you want to do.

B2W2 will be collaborative again, once Mx. Downbad finishes Black and White.

I finally finished making the progress document for Ruby Natural, Sapphire Natural, and Emerald Natural. (placeholder names)

We have the ruby and sapphire sprites from rows 1-8 in the order they were on spriter's resource. I may rearrange them.

Then after Birch we have the Emerald exclusive sprites. (which includes some minor adjustments to four minor trainers).

Then we have back sprites, followed by the biking sprites, followed by the contest sprites. (You may have noticed that the bike sprite is actually shared between May and Brendan, and the game just swaps out the middle section depending on the player)

The three overworld sprite sheets (May, Brendan, and everyone else) will come later.

I'm assuming they're unused in the code, but I could be wrong.

(Also, although @Dwellernumber765 has already given me some front sprites, I wanted to just make a normal version first, so we can cross-reference it later if the need arises.)

I guess I've been quiet for too long, quick update:

 

It's mostly just overworked sprites left, but there are a lot of them. It's pretty intimidating so I've been taking it nice and slow while I figure out how the fuck it should look since the style changed from Gen 4 to 5

 

Other than those it's just like 2 xtranciever sprites so yeah that's nice

 

To be honest I've been hitting a weird swing of a ton of other projects and oddly placed energy

 

Uhhh everyone be talking about how they like their nudity; I'm just doing it because I think it's cute, so I do what seems reasonable while keeping the charm of simplicity
