Thanks again, this is definitely very helpful, but the hitch I've run into now is that I can't find the alternate character sprites. I see that the "a" folder in the downloads page for HGSS contains all of the sprites present in the hack, but in the overworld sprites folder for example (801), only the normal player sprites seem to be there, labeled as 1_70 for the walking ones. I'm looking for the alternate sprites with Lyra in the overalls; the ones in the bottom right of the spritesheet. I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question, I feel like I must be overlooking something pretty obvious...

Oh yeah. I never actually made the sprites for addition into the game. They just exist on the progress document.

I forgot. 😅

I thought I'd give a little progress update.

  • Female overworld sprites: 19/25
  • Male overworld sprites 31/44
  • Female battle sprites: 22/23
  • Male battle sprites: 37/48
  • Mysteryman sprites: 0/1 
  • Overall progress: 109/141 or 77%

Ahh got it, that makes total sense. If it's not too much trouble that would be great; absolutely no pressure or rush at all though, I just thought the sprites looked nice.

Question: do you want the nipples to remain on the back sprites?

Just thought I'd ask since that would be an easy edit to make, if needed.

I may not even be needed in the B2W2 project if y'all can work with Tinke and apply the sprites so easily.

And hey, this test got Youngster done. That's already one sprite down. :) Now just 100s left to go.

I should start learning where the files are in Tinke asap.

Thank you so much, you've been such an incredible help!! Just about everything is working perfectly, but I'm running into one last issue: I can't seem to figure out how to edit the sprites in the opening cutscene; Jay-San's video on the subject only covers the files in Platinum, which seem different than the bin files that HGSS use, which I can't seem to figure out how to properly replace without crashing the game; specifically files 2_54.bin and 2_74.bin. If anyone has any insight I'd greatly appreciate it!

Strange, I don't think I've had any major problems with those files.

Something to look out for on 2_54 is that if you press the Num Palette arrows, you can change the palette to Ethan and Dawn's respective palettes.

This is required to edit some intro sprites like the Team Rocket Intro sprites and Silver's face image, but for this one, the og grayscale palette is easy enough to work with.

Steps for how I applied the images:

 

  1. Unpack folder 2/6/2

You can only use the Tinke 8 he provided in the files for some reason since my Tinke 9 doesnt work the same way it does with his

I wouldn't say that either
It's a lot better to have someone manage updates and sprite inserting from my experience with the Moemon rom hack

Thank you. I promise I'll keep working on these as long as I am able to. I honestly find it fun somehow.

I'm literally new to this, I just found this thread about this Pokemon ROM and created an account to ask this: The download links are currently down or deleted, could you tell me why? Sorry for maybe asking something obvious, the truth is I don't know much in general and even less about this page (especially how to use it, the internal lore, or things like that).

I think you can now get the downloads, since they tend to be only accessible if you have an account

This is true. You must be logged in to download anything on loverslab.

It's just a quirk with how the site works.

I'd guess to show that npcs can switch out their pokemon too, so the player wouldn't be confused when gym leaders and elite four members did it.

Why did it just now occur to me that this was an intended mechanic to have them swap out like that.
