Viewier Posted February 22 Author Posted February 22 Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Au Naturel update 3: The Player Character Update Time for the third weekly update! Now you can play as one of four naked characters: Red May, Red Brendan, Green May, and Green Brendan. It's kinda crazy that we have all of the sprites for the main characters in already besides the last three Emerald biking sprites, which I have no idea where they are stored. I was surprised by two things testing out this update: First, the reflections work automatically. I expected to have problems there. Second, the trainer card sprites reuse the front sprite, so I do not have to add them separately. I am starting to work with editing the text and adding custom overworld sprites to replace the unused ones, though I may wait until later to add these things in, so as to only have 3 roms kicking around instead of 6. But hey, you may see custom text versions next time if things go well! There don't seem to be too many mentions of clothing in Hoenn, at least compared to Johto. Also, I think I've finally found all of the overworld sprites that are different between Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. So, this should be the final format for the overworld progress document unless we add more. Until then, enjoy being naked! If Bulbapedia has all of the animated sprites ripped, then it means there is/was a way you could make the BW2's animation work, except I cannot find out how given Gen 5 is relatively less analyzed for romhacks. One interesting observation is that the older version of Tinke I used for sprite exporting last time is slightly less broken than the latest version for this purpose. Does this imply that Tinke once tried to support BW2's animated sprite but has abandoned later, and Bulbapedia made use of that feature before it got abandoned? If there's no available tool for this, then we can only check the edited sprites out in the game itself, which can be tedious as you need to repack the rom each time. Right now I'm considering to investigate each of the older versions of Tinke if there's a better chance. 2
