Did we figure out what was wrong with the bag in hgss?

Hate to break it to you but i dont think that's a problem within our realm of solving. The best thing I can do is recommend you use MelonDS and if you're playing as Lyra, don't open the bag until you've interacted with a pokemon center once.

Trying to find a way to view BW2's animated sprites and failing.

If Bulbapedia has all of the animated sprites ripped, then it means there is/was a way you could make the BW2's animation work, except I cannot find out how given Gen 5 is relatively less analyzed for romhacks.

One interesting observation is that the older version of Tinke I used for sprite exporting last time is slightly less broken than the latest version for this purpose.

Does this imply that Tinke once tried to support BW2's animated sprite but has abandoned later, and Bulbapedia made use of that feature before it got abandoned? If there's no available tool for this, then we can only check the edited sprites out in the game itself, which can be tedious as you need to repack the rom each time. Right now I'm considering to investigate each of the older versions of Tinke if there's a better chance.

That is interesting. I'd guess that is what happened. I wish you luck!

If it helps, you could try using NitroPaint to view these sprites.
It doesn't support nmcr and nmar files, but you are able to look all the way up to cell animations.

Nitro-Paint.png

For extra information regarding gen 5 sprites, as I understand 8 files work together to create the trainer sprite.
I am not 100% sure but here's what I gathered from these files
In order:
First ncgr file - contains the static trainer sprite
Second ncgr file - has the sprite sheet
ncer file - cell file (defines cell bank from the sprite sheet)
nanr file - animation for the cell bank from ncer
nmcr file - mapping cell files
nmar file - full animation with the mapped cell files
Unknown file - not sure what this does
nclr file - color palette

Feel free to correct me if I have misinformation above.

Hey, that's actually helpful.
Though, I've found an alternate tool named Console tool before you posted that. It's another one of those discontinued tool, but it gives just enough information and functionality to show boundaries of each cells and export it. I've been using this to assemble those cells and draw guide lines of each of the texture in Aseprite given some of them aren't mapped quite prettily.

When I'm done with what I'm doing it'll be much easier to start working on BW2 sprites. It'll just take a while, there are almost 160 of them...

Bobo's and my comment appears to catch some attention. So I added an actual example screenshot of Console tool to avoid misconception.

Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Au Naturel update 4:

The Pokémon Day Update

Time for the fourth weekly update! It's a little smaller than previous updates, though that's really just because there weren't any more player sprites to add this update, so now we're just going through the minor characters until they're all in.

Plus, I wanted to get an update out for Pokémon Day because it's fun timing, and I expect to be busy this weekend.

Did you enjoy the presentation?

This update fills out the first four rows of trainers in the progress document, including all remaining double-battle exclusive trainers.

(It adds the straight couple, the lesbian couple, and the interviewers.)

Has anyone started playing the games yet? If so, have you noticed any problems?

We have still had no luck in finding the contest audience, so if anyone could find it, we'd be really grateful.

But if we can't add it, I guess that's fine.

Have fun fighting more trainers!

yes

@Viewier if you send the NARCs I can probably make a JP version fairly quickly. Won't make guarantees on stability and there will be very little support if any.
