bm2x Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 I got Skyrim off GOG and I cannot get the mods thing to work. I have the Vortex, with SKSE, SkyUI, CBBE, and Bodyslide. I am totally lost. I keep getting an error off of SKSE that I do not have the right SKSE, saying I need AE, then SE, then GOG, and then going through the cycle again, so idk if I boned something or I should use a different mod manager or ...? I'm stumped and any help I would appreciate.

CBBE doesn't really require SKSE so with that installed you should see nude bodies whether you launch via SKSE or not, that said there appear to be a few SKSE gog versions in the archive now so are you sure your GOG version of skyrim is the one it shows? If your not sure find where ever GOG puts the skyrimse (assume you have SE) executable and right click on it, select details and check the product version Might want to check its installed right as well as SKSE unlike other mods doesn't belong in the \data folder , there are ways to install it via vortex or MO2 (you'll need to google it) or you can just do it manually, so if skse64_loader.exe isn't in the same folder as skyrimse.exe it won't work Edited March 21, 2025 by pinky6225
travelmedic Posted March 21, 2025 Posted March 21, 2025 GOG needs its own unique version of SKSE. Just so as not to overlook the obvious, are you sure you have the correct (GOG) version?
bm2x Posted March 21, 2025 Author Posted March 21, 2025 (edited) Okay, so i have "Special Edition" according to the launcher, but the files folder says Anniversary Edition from GOG, so maybe that could be an issue? Or I am the suck? I am trying ModOrgsnizer2 instead of Vortex because I was honestly never able to get anything but MO2 to work, so maybe that will be the solution or idk. Or I am the suck? Special Edition and Anniversary Edition are not different games like LE and SE. Anything called anniversary anything is just the stuff they released on 2021 (a pack of all the Creation Club items, a glorified microtransaction DLC). You got that + the base game (Skyrim on its 64bits engine with the 3 official DLCs) on GOG. So you install stuff made for the GOG version of the executable. Go to where your game is installed and check the product version of your SkyrimSE.exe file (good luck trying to find a SkyrimAE.exe btw). That's the version of your game, that's a number you'll see any time a mod requires a specific version due to SKSE or SKSE plugin DLL (files) compatibility. Right now you should have an executable of version 1.6.1179, so use SKSE, Address Library and any other mod for that version. Sometimes you get lucky and mods made for 1.6+ are also compatible with the GOG release but that's not always the case. Edited March 21, 2025 by Just Don't

Starting the whole modding process over from scratch is honestly the hardest part. Once I can get itbup and running everyting else works or it doesn't work, and it is just drag and drop. But getting it running? Ugh.
