Hello everyone!

I'm currently trying out a few small tricks and tweaks in Blender, but I don't think I can significantly improve my workflow any further - at least it doesn't seem necessary to me... except for one point, but I'll get to that.

Currently working on a mod for Nina. Here are two screenshots of the current work status:

Nina_2.png.be37309ddb6a180dadb8492502998e50.pngNina_3.png.dfdf52e7bef28764493275474016c10c.png

In terms of effort, she's by far the most complex character to mod so far. While her base model consists of only two parts (upper and lower body), her body dimensions are so absurd that it takes significantly longer to adapt a new model to her than with the other characters.

However, this also gives me the opportunity to experiment a little more with other things, such as textures - for example, I'm currently trying to incorporate tan lines into the model (not final yet):

Example_1.PNG.19dd61c15439433db1811be56bc2e519.PNGOnce this mod is finished, I only have one more mod for Isla to do.

Once I'm done with that, I'll probably post a few tips for other modders here. It won't be much, though, since the tutorials linked earlier in this thread are 99.9% sufficient in my opinion—the rest are minor details.

At this point, I can't say how or if I will continue after that.

But I have one more thing - a problem that has been bothering me for some time:

Example_2.PNG.60cd131d18b6774b0101b19cd3ca7f5d.PNGAll the basic models I've used so far have been pretty user-friendly in terms of the segmentation of the individual body parts... except for Yumia.

Her original model in the game has gloves where the index finger and little finger are free - the parts are divided accordingly (0.vb --> hand; 12.vb --> fingers). Yumia_HandFiles_Loose.zip

Unfortunately, when modding, this means that the corresponding segmentation has to be done at this point as well, which, at least in my attempts, sometimes leads to problems with the weights and minor inaccuracies (sometimes, for example, a hole appears between the finger areas when making certain hand movements).

If the hand and fingers were a single model, it would be much easier to work with - hence the following questions:

  1. Is it possible to make a complete model from the hand and the two fingers?
  2. And if so - how?

I've read a few tutorials over the last few days, including the very good and detailed one from @amorrow28, but I haven't seen any help for my specific problem or I overlooked it.

Would be grateful for some help in this case 😉.

See you next time!

Will this mod be released?

I also saw the Bunny girl post but that wasnt released either. Just wondering if you are going to release them?

Hi tigers,

to your questions: Yes and yes.

I'm currently away and don't have access to my modding stuff - when I get back, I'll make most of the previously unreleased mods available. As things currently stand, I won´t be able to provide the mod with the alternative hairstyle for Yumia, but it was only intended as a proof-of-concept anyway.

Since I won't be creating any more mods for this game after this due to time constraints, I would like to give some general modding tips for those interested, along with the relevant resources.

Unfortunately, this will take some time to prepare - so please be patient.

In terms of timeframe, I'm currently aiming for sometime in May, but please don't pin me down - everything is a bit chaotic at the moment 😉.

Nude mods already exist for all four. @woofhat has nude mods for Yumia, Isla and Nina, and @Geefbeef_NT has a nude mod for Lenja.

Woofhat's mods are here.

Geefbeef's mod is here.

EDIT: I did eventually release a nude mod of all four, here.

The easy mod manager is updated to 0.0.6 and fix some problem. It can be found here in attachment.

The mod manager now tries to check whether the root.rdb and root.rdx files have mod data. If there is no mod data, the mod manager will think this a new game version and backup them for futher use. Thus, the game update should not influence the mod manager's work anymore.

Also, the mod file with variants, like this from amorrow28, is supported. The mod manager will split it into different mods.

A button called "Split" is added to split mods with submods. It will split one mod into different mods with numbered suffix. However, I tried this on the mod AtelierYumiaRevealingMod but it causes crash if only single mod is enabled. It works today without any change. Maybe my gamefile was broken before.

If you have any idea to solve these problem better, just tell me.

The creater said never update a new version.

And the mod will be broken when change hair's color.

Hi lw30130,

this isn't due to the hair color change... it's more a case of carelessness on my part, sorry.

I originally made two versions of this mod... one of them suddenly had the hair strands missing when I exported it (I must have accidentally deleted a few more parts than necessary).

It looks like I accidentally uploaded the wrong version of the file back then. As I wrote at the time, I was under a lot of time pressure and therefore couldn't test it as I usually do.

I'll see if I can provide the correct file without the missing strands of hair when I get back - after all, I don't have to "update" anything here since I already have the correct version.

What surprises me more, though, is that the mod has been downloaded by 600+ people, but you're the first that points this fault out.

Well, it's easy for me to say, I missed it myself 😉. Annoying (for me), but not a big deal.

Ok, long story short: I'll look at the whole thing again when I get back from vacation.

Sorry again.

Edit:

Today seems to be a lucky day, @lw30130!

It looks like I have the correct version of the mod on my GDrive - but I can't test it from here.

I just changed the download in my original post from April 15th to the (hopefully) correct file version. Could you please check if it's correct now?

I modded the game and compressed once i think i will not add another mod, i will play the game in another time, i did test the mod in the beginning where all characters are present but this character doesn't show her back so i thought it was ok. Once you fix the mod i will have to unzip and fix and zip again so thats why i didn't notice. Maybe there are others similar

Then we all made the same mistake... I also thought it was okay😉.

By the way, the download seems to update after a few minutes... the version I downloaded directly after uploading to see if the download works correctly was still the old one.

I just checked the download in the post from April 15th again... it should work from now on.

The correct download has the "0x88004001.fdata" with the timestamp from 2025-04-27. If it´s an older timestamp, then please redownload.

I just redownloder it.And it can work correctly now.

But it's still have a question

When change color, the mod will be broken just like old version.

Re:

Geefbeef_NT Thank you for your detailed explanation, and  I appreciate your hard work for mods. I think I know what to do now.

It's good that the hair seems to be working properly now.

To be honest, I haven't really looked into the characters' alternative hair colors and their application yet, but I think I know where the problem might lie in this case:

image.png.fafd3c81d4f0b08a9171505a4ae2239b.png

This option changes not only the hair color but also other textures of the character... but since the game also uses a certain texture (that was changed) for the mod for other versions of the same character, these textures no longer fit on the "new" body.

As far as I know, there are two ways to solve this:

  • Use the mod but not the alternative colors.
  • Someone make a version of the mod that fits the alternate hair color.

There is of course a third option, namely to create an alternative texture palette for all characters and costumes so that this doesn't happen again, but firstly that is quite time-consuming and complex and secondly all current and future modders would then have to stick to this specification so that nothing gets broken.

By the way, the fact that costumes "break" when you use a mod is the same for all characters.

As it is currently, you have two alternatives: either use the mod or the alternative hair color... but not both at the same time.

I've been able to install mods on Switch.

The path is `SDMC://atmosphere\contents\0100544020572000\romfs\Motor\ReleasePackage\KIDS_PLATFORM_NX\release\`
I dumped the romFS and worked off of that.

Most mesh mods from this form lead to a crash, but manually editing a mesh worked 100% fine... so it's probably not hard to port PC mods over.

The thing that tripped me up is that texture mods from this forum work with no issues, however trying to read any g1t files from the NSP dump trigger errors.

Gust tools and the ROTR tools complain because the g1t files are `format 7E` or `potentially a cubemap`, I can't get Noesis to read it either.

@IronTie Can you port these 4 mods to switch?

Surprisingly, with a little testing, it seems very possible.

Here is a trial with Isla, this is more or less 1:1 port and the only changes needed are the metadata.

Hello everyone!

Since my modding plans for Atelier Yumia are slowly but surely coming to an end, I thought I'd share a little curiosity here - created by my friend BananaBread:

We had a brief conversation a few weeks ago about our modding activities in the past, during which I also casually mentioned that I'm currently working on some mods for this game for fun.

Since then, he's given me some good tips and helped me with a few problems - and yesterday I received this from him:

image.png.4c3faa66c6ee5662192a5a74a0300a7a.pngimage.png.653685f1e61371cb16ead3d72cdc6f5b.pngApparently, this madman sat down and tried to convert a mod for the Skyrim Special Edition to Atelier Yumia...

...and somehow he seems to have managed it.

The base mod for this is called EGIL Gray Fox - Night Raider and comes from a modder named egilvar.

However, my buddy only focused on the mere feasibility of the mod: As you can see in the two screenshots on the left, for example, he kept the neck area of the original model (which of course no longer fits the character) and the textures are also unedited and therefore much too dark.

According to his own words, it took him about two days to complete this proof of concept.

He also sent me instructions on how he did it, although I only understand about half of them so far - it's not exactly easy.

In my opinion, this is nothing more than a nice gimmick and hardly suitable for "serious" mods - for example, the model here has enormous clipping problems due to the present layers of body and clothing, which requires complex and very time-consuming rework, and the polygon count of the original model is so high that it puts a lot of strain on the game's engine.

I'm honestly quite surprised that this mod even works... in my own experiments I've found that if the polygon count of a model is too high the game either crashes immediately or the corresponding character becomes invisible.

Well... anyway, this is a good example of what you can achieve with experimentation, even if it's not necessarily practical 😉.

Thanks to BananaBread for showing me this.

I'll mirror what others here are saying, I basically never visit nexus mods and it's had some bad PR over the years.

Sometimes I'll swing by Gamebanana, and I'll check out ayakamods.

I recognize that the thread can be awkward to find things, but it's also been an important place to learn how to make mods instead of just download them.

honestly its not even about the difficulty finding stuff here, its the fact that you can paid with no additional effort if you post on nexus and it does well. and since moderation for small games is nonexistent someone could easily steal mods from here and farm dono points

If anything, use AyakaMods.

why would they censor these lol I've never seen a case of actual censorship there that wasn't blatant loli or a clear political statement. Nudity for adults (which yumia clearly is) has never been a problem on nexus. Leave the political garbage to the retards on "Basedmods"

They've censored "Body Type 1 vs Male" and Cyberpunk 2077 "Change sexuality of NPC" mods.

I'm not interested in politics, or whether you agree with them or their moderation policies, it's their site and they can curate however they want.

Nexusmods can do it's thing, but I am not interested in using it.

Hello everyone!

For the weekend (or the beginning of the week, depending on your preference 😉), here's a very short preview of my first planned modding tutorial:

Modding_Tut_Prev_1.png.95f78e9eb968870f70fb71d5163cd921.pngSince I was planning on creating another mod for Isla anyway, I thought this might be a good opportunity for some more detailed explanations.

In order not to go into too much detail right away - the whole thing is already challenging enough - the first part will cover the following topics:

  1. Texture manipulation --> change existing textures and create new ones
  2. Model porting - edit "simple" base models and integrate them into the game

I will also introduce a few useful tools that make some steps a little easier or simplify more complex work steps.

### Update ###

The costume mod will look like this when its finished - the current version needs a little more work, but it should be OK as an example:

Isla_Gal_Costume_001.png.7b237b133f5e3ef31ac727398a1419b2.png

Since I don't have as much time as I did in the last few weeks, the first part of the tutorial will probably be published within the next two weeks - depending on the response, I will add a second part in which a new outfit will be created.

So until then...

@IronTie What changes to the metadata are needed to port these to the switch? Both worked flawlessly, so it would be nice to port others if the process is relatively simple.

I'm not as familiar with the specifics as other people here, I'm using tools other people developed.

The metadata that seems to cause the problem is in `root.rdb`, I simply rebuilt it with new metadata generated from the `find_metadata.py` script.

I'll run through the steps I used to try and remove ambiguity.

  • Dump NSX Yumia's data (`romfs/.../release`)
  • Download a PC compatible mod
  • In the yumiamod.json, it lists the files that get modified
  • Use `find_metadata.py` to get NSX specific `file_metadata.json` files
  • temporarily "install" the mod into your root.rdb, and use qrdbtool to extract the files (If files are provided like with Geefbeefs Lenja, this isn't necessary, and maybe there's an easier way to get g1m/g1t etc. out of .fdata files)
  • Use 'yumia_mod_extract_files_from_fdata.py' from fdata_tools_v1.0.4 to get the modified assets.
  • Create a directory with file_metadata.json files from NSX and the mod files extracted from downloaded fdata files
  • Run yumia_mod_write_yumiamod_json
  • Run yumia_mod_write_fdata

Basically, extract the mod files out of the fdata, and re-follow the same steps as you normally would but using file_metadata.json extracted from a NSX version of root.rdb.

This has **not** worked for me on the Yumia or Isla mods, here it seems that there might be a deeper incompatability in g1t format or bones or something, If I discover what exactly causes these issues I will post about it here.

The yumia fdata tools comes with a script to extract files out of .fdata files, so there is no need to use qrdbtool to get the assets out of mods.  Maybe you are using an older version?

Im have a question about installed mods on older versions of the game then when im need to update my game to newest version of game. Do im need to deactivate the mods from the mod manager first before doing the update to newest game version?
