Coen92 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Probably someone asked this question before, but I couldn't find the answer. As far as I know Skyrim has limit of ESM/ESP files, which is 255. That makes me uncomfortable, becouse I love to have great mods as RND or Climates of Tamriel with RLO. I also like to have great choice of Followers and I love mods that gives me great playthrough, immersion and makes my game more realistic. To have the Skyrim of my dreams I think I should have possibility of install at least 300 ESM/ESP files but it's impossible for know... is it, really?Does anyone have idea how to reach the mod limits that Skyrim has? Is there anything I can do? Maybe combine some mods in one ESP, or something? Please help me guys.
myuhinny Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 255 is the max I believe unless you merge mods that you can into one.
Ark of Truth Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 255 is the max period. The game engine cannot handle more then that.
CGi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Knowing that scripts start with the id FF, the ("safe") max is actually 254, whereby having more then 180 active plugins already causes noticable instability so it's best to not hit that limit.
Coen92 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 255 is the max I believe unless you merge mods that you can into one. How can I merge them? Any instructions?
Captain Cobra Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 There's a merge plugins script for tes5edit on the nexus. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37981/? There's a tutorial in the description.

I try to keep my list to 60 but it is hard when mods require so many other plugins witch makes my list rise rapidly.
CGi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 if you use alot of heavily scripted mods, the mod limit is lowered due to the limits of the papyrus engine. So a bit of common sense and some basic knowledge of how mods work is needed to not mod the game to death/past its limits.
D_ManXX2 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 indeed, but that is the entire problem Since all sexlab mods uses heavy scripts leaving little to no room for other mods who also uses scripts.
CGi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 i got 196 mods running, and one of them is Maids II: Deception which iS script heavy and got no problems as for some mods it comes down to load order optimization.i got all sex mods loaded in one solid block, close to the bottom (right above follower mods) and didn't have any problem since i do this. BOSS is only a guide, no 100% solution.
D_ManXX2 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks i will try it, BOSS placed most of sexlab mods high up in the list. like sexlab defeat, TDF etc.. Is there a reason why they should be placed lower like this ?? Will the script work better ?? i am still pretty much a skyrim noob when it comes to this.
h38fh2mf Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Also what you should understand about script-heavy mods is that most scripts are only used when it's actually time to use them unless the mod author is writing them badly. Just having a mod installed doesn't make papyrus any slower. If a lot of scripts are actually working at the same time that will make it slow. I know that some mods like wet and cold / player headtracking are very bad to have installed because these scripts are running all the time. Even if they have much fewer scripts than some SexLab mods it is worse because the scripts in SexLab mods are usually used when you activate them somehow via spell, dialogue or other, depending on mod of course. So you should be mindful not only of how many scripts there are but how they are used.
CGi Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Agreed. The more monitors are running, the bigger the script lag, which is bad as it delays scripted actions.
