It still works for me. Just drag and drop the file/image into the box below the area in which you type. It's clearly marked.

thanks for answering

I must be doing something wrong. Since December, I only see this "image" option. If I try to upload any other type of file, it doesn't accept it.

That's much different from what I get. When I PM I get essentially the same image as when I post here on this Thread. A place where I can type my message with a box underneath it (that contains an image of a paperclip) that says "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." I then pull up File Explorer (I'm on Windows 10) and find the file/image I want. I "grab" that file with my mouse and drop it on the paperclip. After a couple of seconds a miniature of the image shows up in the selfsame box. I can then insert it by clicking on it of hitting insert. It shows up wherever I've left my cursor in the text portion of the upper box.

Until December I was doing the same thing, but since then and I don't know why it appears like this, only in private messages, when I'm on the forum it works as before

Unfortunately the same for me. May it's a browser thing. I use Firefox....

I use Google. In the end I decided to upload the files I want to send to another service (Mediafire in my case) and share the link. It's more cumbersome but it's fine until this is resolved somehow. I'll sit back and cross my fingers, the issue of uploading the photos seems to have been resolved (I assume someone sorted it out behind the scenes)

I'm on Firefox and also have only the ability to send images. I've checked my settings and see nothing there that should impact it. The only thing I notice in this thread – which may be entirely unrelated – is that all of us with the issue have posted less than 1,000 comments posted. Maybe they (whoever does this stuff lol) changed the requirements to upload non-image media to DMs to a higher post threshold? Could be seen as a spam-prevention measure. (To be clear, this is pure speculation based on what little information I have).

I thought I remembered seeing someone say that subscribers (and presumably moderators too) could send attachments in messages, but others could not.

Edit: It is not just the browser. I have tried in Firefox and in Chrome, and cannot attach anything other than an image in either browser.
