Just a quick update,  saying that I'm not dead and the mod is DEFINITELY NOT falling into the "abandonned projects" category.

Also, to answer to the above suggestions about the troll encounter, there,S definitely a lot of potential there, when you include the rescue party... I have no idea if I'll use it though

some neat beasties in there, though I wonder if the drider has a web attack, or if that would have to be added.

also, this might be just me but; as a monster, I don't think Driders HAVE to be 'attractive' anyway, I think that would take away from the whole "monster" title in fact, but again, that's My perspective on it. if one were to portray driders as say; cursed Dark Elves/Drow like they are in some fantasy settings, or some other sort of intelligent/civilized style being, then I would fully back the notion of them looking more humanoid, and even 'pretty' if you will.

thanks for posting that link though, some neat stuff there

I like ugly and pretty monsters within the same genes to be honest, much like you see pretty people and ugly folks. I just dislike when monster girls like driders are consistently on the more monstrous side without much variety. Of course, my love for them and liking to play as one does make me biased =P

not sure if anyone mentioned this in the thread already, but if they haven't it might make you foam at the mouth from the variety, but have you see the Monster mod and the list of beasts it has? there is even a drider monster, though not that attractive

Yeah I use that mod on my serious game, though I can't say I played enough  to have seen most of it. I didn't see the drider yet for example

I think part of the appeal of monsters is that some have just one characteristic of a monster, and rest human, while the others have NOTHING human at all. This includes both beauty and ugliness

I liked driders like Queelag from Dark Souls, although her sister is a lot cuter.

Still, I'd be cusious to see a human "hottie", but with a spider's face

the whole "monster" title is a very, very general term though, it just basically means anything bestial/wild or just flat out dangerous/scary enough to threaten anyone nearby, it's not about how ugly or pretty their appearance is, though most of them tend to be on the more 'monstrous' side, because that usually (I can think of a few exceptions to this) makes them scarier/more intimidating than the more humanoid types, though the general title/name of "monster" still applies to both. most often, a big part of "earning" the title of monster usually falls down to very alien (AKA non-humanoid) features, like how Driders have spider bodies for example.

on the note of the spider face, that's quite the oxymoron for me, as it's way beyond my interests, especially since the face area is a critical part of beauty to me, which may not be so for others, so when you bring up the spider face it instantly destroys the chance of attractiveness (for me at least). though on a completely objective, non-sexual, intellectually curious front, I did find these kinds of different variations on things like what you mentioned to be neat, though I've since seen someone's art of a "spider person" alien on Deviantart with a very humanoid body, but a very spider-styled head. it looked very alien and unusual, but again, that was way beyond my personal interests, I did see some in the comments that expressed their views there, both intellectually and casually, and some were different than mine, so there's that.

Ever since I read "The Last Wish", which is the first novel of the Witcher series, the term "monster" has a very... deep meaning to me. Just because of this quote, which stuck in my head ever since the day I read it

“People," Geralt turned his head, "like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves. When they get blind-drunk, cheat, steal, beat their wives, starve an old woman, when they kill a trapped fox with an axe or riddle the last existing unicorn with arrows, they like to think that the Bane entering cottages at daybreak is more monstrous than they are. They feel better then. They find it easier to live.”

\o/ for fantasy philosophy. sounds really well written though.

Yeah, the whole series is really well written. I think Sapkowski is truely a genius when it comes to wording things... which, as you can tell, I am clearly not good at lol.

But yeah, basically, this means that I see "monsters" as a very, VERY broad term. It can be people too, you know

Indeed an interesting philosophy question :).

Fortunately the variety is nearly endless in fantasy universes, so we can have everything, "stupid" monsters or rather beasts who just follow their instincts, very intelligent monsters, humans who are so psycho that they can be as evil as very intelligent monsters, a combination of both with halflings like centaurs or driders, shapeshifters like werewolves and finally evil gods like the daedra.

I find tragic "monsters" also very interesting, especially if it turns out they are not evil, but cursed or mind controlled by a hidden puppet master.

But the word "monster" doesn't mean something or someone that is hideous or weird-looking, much less savage. It describes intentions and nature rather than appearence.

There can't be a monster that doesn't do harm to others or that has good intentions. But there CAN be a monster that is good-looking.

Your confusion probably is related to you watching japanese stuff...

In their language, "demon" and "monster" have a different meaning, because actually there isn't a equivalent word in english to really translate it properly.

A demon or monster in english are evil or harmful in their very nature. But those same words used in a translation from japanese might have a different meaning.

Ironaically, I don't watch that much jap stuff. I mean, Initial D is the only anime I could ever finish, and on the few times I watch hentai, I do it with the sound off, usually without subtitles... I just can't stand how over-exagerated everything is. "They're more emotive" my ass, they're just drama queens lol.

Anyways, enough with the rent. I wasn't saying the opposite of what you wrote. In fact, you pretty much repeated what I was trying to say, although like I said, I am attrociously bad with words.

Well this isn't a "sexy is first" mod, it's on LL because it has some adult themes, but it's meant to be darker and scarier than your average capture mod of "oh look, I captured you. Now fuck me 417890531689 times an hour for the rest of your life".

*Sigh* I need to stop answering these after a hard day at work, I'm getting grumpy

I just NOPED out because I saw that in my head. I have a horrible phobia of spiders and to me the scariest part of the damn things is the "face".

Strangely enough, frostbite spiders don't scare me at all. I like the idea of your mod because it sounds like legitimate peril of some kind. I just hope most of the mod just doesn't go down a painful path.

I personally think the player should be able to be mummified via bandages by drauger and left in the catacombs to their own devices [ie escape]. That would be very interesting.

(I looked at that monster mod, that "drider" was NOT what I was expecting... the lady part might as well be like an angler fish's, well, angler... also hands on the ends of those upper legs just creep me the fuck out)

Posted

Well you see, this is exactly it: for the "monster" encounters, I'm trying to give it a creepy, scary mood. Of course, I'll also try to include ways to make it more "fun" for the character, which usually is gonna be something like "accept your fate and enjoy it".

The big fun part now though, is that even for the spider encounter, I have enough time before starting again that I can also go back to the drawing table. The intros can stay, but even for my first mond version I'd like something a bit more elaborate than what I had planned.

Basically, the keywords for this mod: ambiance, "story", choices

The things that MIGHT be here, but not garanteed: dynamism, sexual focus, lore-friendliness

It's the bolded part that really makes it worth the wait for me.

Agreed!

The story and possible choices is what really got me interested in this mod, well that and i like things where the hero(ine) ends up in some sort of trouble. :P

moar quest mods, moar story. Too much "framework". I don't want random sex, I want immersion.

Exactly, I'll try to stay away from over-generalized stuff lol.

Just don't expect anything groundbreaking, alright? I can't pull of a Kojima yet (I probably wouldn't even if I could lol)
