yeah smart move. I'm thankful for the workaround but it's whack, the whole unpacking and repacking everytime you wanna install a mod

Oof.  Something tells me THIS will be how they ban people for mods, when we're repacking game files to fool the hash checks.  But, that said, I don't know how much I care about Marvel Rivals to not just make another account if it goes.

 

The concern I have is if I somehow caught a Steam ban from it, but my spidey sense is saying that's like a 0.1% chance vs a Rivals specific hardware ban. 

 

I don't mind packing and unpacking, but I'm going to give it a day or two to see if some genius figures out a smooth workaround now that the method is known.  Being able to click "Restore to Default" or whatever to undo the modding would be a nice touch.

Has anyone tried to use the new modding method yet or is it just speculation, cuz i'm on vacation rn and going home in a while so i dont want to spend a ton of time trying it when it dosent work or not trying it cuz nobody knows if it works yet?

You can't receive a Steam VAC ban for non-VAC games don't worry.

Good call, thanks, I had just looked into that myself and found similar.  Sweet.

 

I just tried it, about to launch with them added.   I'll have to figure out which folders to output for Audio and UI elements next.

High five to Misberave for adding unpacked mods for Sue to Patreon!

 

Edit:  Missed deleting the .pak file.  All good now, we back.

If you wanna stay on the super safe side, wait like a week or so. By then we'll probably know for sure if it's safe.
