Fallout: London

Finally got around to playing London again and... wow the crashes. I'm done for now, will wait until they can get it more stable.

Unfortunately seems like AAF is not compatible with London. I get a crash couple of seconds after loading a save, every time.

I have not had CTD's but the load times are 1 minute & 30 seconds when going through a door, changing cells which happens a lot in this game.

Don't get me wrong...I am enjoying the use of the DLC...just a report.

It could just be my set up, anyone??

Do you still have a conventional hard drive on which the game is currently located or is it already an SSD?

SSD, 2tb which is my drive E, where all my games are, Steam, GOG, EA, etc.

I store the mods I have downloaded on a separate 2tb SSD storage drive F, and I also have an ext SSD unit.

The only thing that occurs to me is that you may not have enough free RAM - either too little in the first place or other processes are "stealing" too much of what is available.

Another approach... graphics card (processor) too slow - or too little memory

My darling had relatively "normal" loading times of around 15 seconds when she tried playing... but she doesn't have a super modern graphics card

Here you can play around a bit with the screen resolution - in other words, turn it down a bit

Yeah when I bought this PC in 2020 the memory cards were already not available, I have 16 gb of RAM, wanted to upgrade to 32 gb but the only cards that would work with my system were, as I said non existent.

Dell/Alienware really should be better at providing access to add-on's after the sale!

Saw a vid installing with MO2.

I zipped the data folder and installed it in MO2 as a separate profile. copy the ini over and it started fine

Have my body and face mods installed plus some mods I always play with  and most of my AAF mods. AAf loads 100 %  but I'm getting a crash after I joined the first gang and find out they've been attacked.

I get crashes in my vanilla set up every once in a while so I going to setup some dummy esl and merge some files see if I'm just bring my crash bug over.

Weird. It didn't crash after I started a new game. But when I saved, then loaded that fresh save, it crashed again after couple of seconds.

Well Churchill got stuck in the Fish people town, Thamestown? And guess who showed up, Dogmeat, only his name is Dog.

I had the exact same bug. But the Dog sucked anyways, he was way too loud and couldn't carry shit.

While I have been hoping to play this for a long time, I think I'm going to wait for some stability patches to come out before trying it.

When I do, I probably will just make a new instance for MO2 and go that route.

But I just saw this, this morning, if it helps any of you, its a solutions megathread on reddit.

Ein bisschen traurig, dass ich es nicht wie einige DLCs installieren und einfach weiterhin meinen alten Charakter und meine alten Mods verwenden kann.

Have you ever done a "total conversion" of a bugdesta game... like "Enderal" for "Skyrim"?

Then it should be clear that mods that were written for "Skyrim", for example, won't run in "Enderal" without adjustment... so you can't use your Fallout mods in "Fallout London" either - unless someone adjusts them.

It even amuses me when users report their failures when installing a mod as complex as AAF!

I have never played Enderal but I heard about it once.

If I remember correctly, there was a mod that connected Fallout 3 with Fallout New Vegas, maybe we are lucky and can get something like that in the future.

Tale of two wastelands. That was a great mod.

Sucks that AAF won't work with it. Not a deal breaker per se. But now I'm wondering what else will conflict. Installing it as a mod so maybe if I run into problems (which I'm sure I will since I'm just kind of slamming this in), I might be able to patch some stuff and make it work. Fingers crossed.

Wow! Everything mostly works. I mean even all my mods including AAF. Still have to patch a lot though. Having fun for a change thanks to these awesome MAs.

Yes. I haven't tested AAF Violate, but sexual harassment working without issues...

This is my issue, you should nuke everything and redo the whole install just for a 20+ hour adventure. Which one has to do to switch back to Regular F4 so 2xs to nuke and reinstall your setup. I want to play not do the technical crap.

From their webpage https://fallout4london.com/release/

RecommendedInstallation-1024x137.png

Here’s our recommended installation steps of Fallout: London:
(Click on the text below to expand the instructions)

Recommended installation steps:

1. We recommend doing a clean installation of fallout 4 by uninstalling it from GOG or Steam.
(If you haven’t already)

2. Remove any mods in your mod managers if you have them or unmanage the game completely.
(Various mods may conflict, get Fallout: London up and running first, then mod to your hearts content)
This primarily applies to Vortex as it adds the mods directly to the data folder.

3. Once Fallout 4 is uninstalled as an extra precaution, nuke Fallout 4 from orbit by:
Deleting the Fallout 4 folder in: Documents\My games\
Deleting the Fallout 4 folder in: Users\*YourUserName*\AppData\Local\
This ensures Fallout 4 is completely cleaned from your computer.

4. Reinstall Fallout 4 either through Steam or GOG.

5. Steam only – Downgrade your Fallout 4 Installation.
You can do this via our downgrader or manually.

6. Run Fallout 4 at least once to ensure it works and allow it to generate some required files.

7. Assuming you have added Fallout: London to your GOG library already, install Fallout: London.
Use the included installer, it does everything you need!

8. Enjoy.

We do recommend some additional mods such as Buffout 4 or the High FPS fix to help with uptime and stability but this is up to the user.

I bought GOG version, which wrote over my F4 save files, terrible load times so my install was questionable, nuked it to start fresh.

I am not saying it was GOG at fault, mine in all probability, but why after the update which broke a ton of mods would this require this type of installation is mind boggling.

Thanks Bethesda for screwing up the two best games you have released.      (Sarcasm)

yeah, I saw that. But then i thought - at first I should make clean install. That means reinstall Fallout with all that fckin next-gen update. Then downgrade it and install FOLON. Now I'm running FO4 version before next-gen update and I don't want to screw all my modlist. Don't think, that FOLON is worth all  my mods 😅

This may be some the reason people are having issues with installing. I started with an older version of FO4 to begin with and didn't have to install the newest version of it and downgrade. It would be better if we could downgrade our Beth games through Steam like we can with other games. But noooooo....

Also I installed this as a mod through Vortex. Yes, it does take more time that way. But perhaps their packaged installer isn't the best either.

BTW- I had just started a new game in regular FO4 before I installed this mod. I loaded back into it after installation and played it for a bit and most everything seemed fine. This means it may be possible to play either Fallout London or the base game with some work and patching with one installation of the game (I like the old NV style mechanics and art style they used). In other words you can still load into and play a save from the base game with this and all your other mods installed and reasonably expect it to work. What you probably cannot do is play the same character in both (like using a COC command to move from London back to Boston). Haven't tested this last part to be sure yet as I'm having so much fun, lol.
