Riot445 Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 Before I start a mod list, is it better to stick with the classic FNIS and Nemesis or update to Pandora. I'm on v1.5.97.

I'm on v1.5.97. I'm on v1.5.97 and have been using Pandora without problems since I first built my game in March. Be aware that Pandora doesn't currently work with DD or Zaz. I have a couple of SLAL packs, MNC, HCOS, Zaz plus 24 or so OAR animations. I have Zaz installed but only because one of the mods I use requires it. I don't actually 'use' Zaz. 1
decaluka Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Pandora runs super fast, is easy to use and compatible with most FNIS and Nemesis based animation mods. If development continues well, it will become the new standard. However, it doesn't work with several mods as Grey Cloud explained above. So two options - one, wait until it is more robust, or two, take the plunge and use it to find out if your modlist actually works with it properly. Worse comes, you can always switch back to FNIS & Nemesis. 1
Someone92 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Doesn't DD NG works with Pandoara? Also, only furniture animations of ZAZ do not work with Pandora, it won't break your other animations. Personally, the convenience of Pandora outweighs the small incompatibilities it still has.

I recently installed a combat animation mod called Precision and a plug-in appeared in Pandora from somewhere and the mod just worked.
sila Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 So does pandora support creature animations? I know Fnis is outdated but I've still been using it because Nemesis didn't support any creature animations. Would be nice if I could get some of the newer anim mods working.

I don't use DD so I'm not sure about that and I have Zaz installed for other mods but I don't really use it so I've not noticed any problems. I use it without either FNIS or Nemesis. I only have one 'Nemesis' combat mod called Precision which seems happy enough. I also have a raft of OAR mods which do their own thing alongside Pandora. I've been using Pandora for several months now and not encountered any problems. Install it like any other mod and run it through your mod manager. 1

Well devious devices is a mod I use sometimes, but I see there are some folks that have made a zaz workaround for it. I suppose I will give it a try.
KnottyWulf Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 I'm curious about something with Pandora as well, since everyone seems to be switching to it now. I've been using FNIS for a few years since getting into SE modding, and I have an XXXXL patch for FNIS. How many animations packs can be loaded?
Grey Cloud Posted July 27, 2024 Posted July 27, 2024 14 hours ago, KnottyWulf said: How many animations packs can be loaded? It was never ever anything to do with Animation Packs regardless of whether it is FNIS or Pandora. The animation limit was only ever to do with the number of character animations. There is a mod which has been around for several years now which removes the animation limit. 1
belegost Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Damn, I just made a separate profile for Shattered Skyrim and already made a good progress on it. Completely forgot about Pandora, otherwise I might've just use this opportunity to test it out. If it doesn't support DD though it's useless for my main profile, because I rely heavily on the whole framework there. I'll have to keep it in mind next time I'm rebuilding stuff from scratch.

krzp Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 iirc, Pandora's authors position on AA's used to be something along the lines of "nope, just use DAR/OAR" (which is absolutely correct this day and age, btw), so if unless that has changed, it's probably best to stick to FNIS / Nemesis for the time being (although I think Nemesis also had some small problems with Alternate animations in regular DD out of the box, I had to do some tricks to get it to work correctly before I started using the DAR conversion).

Not sure if you are still talking about DD here but I have about 360 OAR animations running alongside Pandora (non DD).

Which alternate animation is this exactly?

Sorry it's been a minute, I am trying to update my install Nemesis is/was incompatible with FNIS Sexy Move. Can't remember what exactly was wrong, but there was some weird stuff going on, especially if DD was present as well. But I'm murky on details, that was a long time ago and I used Nemesis only on Enderal (regular, not SE. It was not ported yet at the time). Edited July 29, 2024 by belegost
sila Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 (edited) Ok well THAT is impressive.... That would have been a good 5-10 minutes on fnis, and it would be buggy with the window flashing and if I messed it up the thing would close and fail to finish. Over 21k animations processed in less than 3 seconds.... If this works I'm definitely sticking with it. Edited July 30, 2024 by sila

Sorry it's been a minute, I am trying to update my install Nope, DD NG dropped that stone age tech, and uses OAR for it's movement animations. I've been using Pandora for like half a year, almost zero complaints from me. On 7/28/2024 at 2:41 AM, belegost said: I don't use NG. I've just remembered that I made a similar patch for the regular DD as well, that kills FNIS AA in favour of OAR/DAR, so it's available somewhere in the troubleshooting post for that version. So if you do want to try Pandora alongside regular DD, you could grab that OAR patch, and the rest of the animations should work without any problems.
Anunya Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 I have not tried this myself, but this mod claims to have a patch for Zaz with Pandora: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/122055/

But it is a clear and obvious improvement over running fnis, just not having the chance for it to break during the run is nice.
