"Read Only" manifest does not prevent the steam update

Hi,

As in the title. does anybody have any idea why do I get "Update Queued" with the new update even though I set the manifest to read only?

This one is ticked as read only. How can I fix it and make the update go away? (it is not installed, just queued)

Thanks,

And thus prevented. Until you remove the read-only setting and allow Steam to apply the update.

Ah, thanks. I thought it was supposed to not detect it at all  I thought the update will just not appear at all.

Will pressing update on steam on accident mess anything up?

Yes. It will update your game and "break" all your mods that require f4se (and have not been updated yet for the new game version). Best not to press steam update until AFTER you have downloaded (but not installed) the updated versions of all those mods. Good luck.

It will only not detect its installed if you change the name of the appmanifest (like stick some extra characters on the end) and it will still find it once you play it so best to play in offline mod and restart steam if you want to go online

It should fail. The install can't proceed without writing to the appmanifest. That's why while that file is read-only the updates won't be automatically applied.

You can prevent the download by setting Steam to only update the game when you launch it and then never launch it using the default executables (we use script extender anyways). But Steam will still detect the update and put it in queue.
