Settlement mods?

Recommended Posts

I'm skipping sim settlements 1 and 2. What settlement mods do you recommend for a sort of vanilla gameplay feel? I'm currently leaning towards...

-Settlement Limits Slashed

-Settlement Supplies Expanded

-Snap N Build 2

-Place Everywhere

-Homemaker - Expanded Settlements

-Spring Cleaning

Anything you'd add to this list, remove, change?

so my current knowledge of settlement mods is lacking (I am trying to get back into the game) *I am playing a lot of GTA Online at the moment

but here is one mod that I use to allow easier cleanup of the settlements

SCRAP - Sweep - Clean - Remove - and - Prune

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/61092

and I saw this mod from the link above

AIO version of 11 Rebuild Settlements

Workshop Framework
Transfer Settlements - Shareable Settlement Blueprints

Some things I like about Sim Settlements, but ultimately they never fit my idea of settlement building. 200 years after the apocalypse and people still live in shacks? Just no. Some form of building better had to evolve.

So I try to strike a balance of where I think humanity could evolve to in a period of 200 years. Solid structures with real walls and roofs with fortified defensible positions. I mean its kind of silly to have workbenches and tools to modify steel weapons and power armor but nobody can mill a straight piece of wood, make nails or mix mortar?

I like the Homemaker and Settlement Objects Expanded mods as I feel they contain the things that could be possible. I especially like the wood walls and pier set in Homemaker combined with vanilla pieces.

Transfer Settlements is a must to easily build what you have done before.

I like Scrap Everything. Lot of people do not because some things should not be scrapped because of precombines and such. I never use scrapall. I manually scrap and over time you learn what not to scrap.

My FO4 settlement building has evolved over time. I used to build all the settlements grandly, but with big settlements you get caught up in managing settlements. Now I generally build one big settlement and just put what I have to at the smaller ones to appease the settlers already there. I dont build beacons. I use mods to get settlers I want in my settlements. Unoccupied settlements where you do have to build a beacon to claim for Prestonian, I build the beacon to complete quest, then scrap it. Disable the two goofy settlers that show up. I like to populate settlements with BOS people. Good fighters!

Settlements of Unlimited Size is far better. Plus it's a F4SE plugin.. no mod slot...easy peasy.

Also, later on you might like

Import Transfer Settlements Blueprints to ESp and of course Transfer Settlements

Thanks. I switched out for Unlimited Size. Luckily I haven't started playing. Spent a week dicking around with ENBs and decided ENBs are to much trouble.

If you look around a bit you'll find several mods that are F4SE plugins and work way better than their exp/esl counterparts.

Snappy HouseKit + Snappy DLC Kits - a little complicated plugin, but I really like it.

Interior Settlement Resources - Water Pumps Generators Purifiers - a little cheaty, but very useful if you don’t want to overload the settlement with water pumps and food plantings.

Fully Functional Wild and Fresh Crops - simply convenient plantings with a built-in harvesting system directly into the workshop. (if you use Mutant Menagerie then there is an extended version of this plugin). Slightly similar plugin if you don't like the first one - Retsam's Better Planters

I’m used to using the MW Sentry Turret for protection because of its good parameters. While I was looking for a link to this plugin on the nexus, I came across another similar plugin, now I want to try it. The first one is not on the nexus, but the author often visits LL, perhaps you can somehow get a link to the first one from him.

I don’t know if it’s worth listing interesting decor plugins, so I won’t do it. 😃

My last play I had snap n build and snappy. Menu felt cluttered, but I may add snappy back in if it can be added mid playthrough

I am of the same mind as @Olmech - after 200 years I think the survivors would have at least started to pick up a little of the trash.

I use several of the other build kits already listed, but mostly Homemaker and the G2M (?) mods.

I also make use of a lot of the "Clean and Simple" settlement series by JennCave.  They're available from the Bethesda site (you can access from the mods tab on the FO4 start screen, or from her Discord (sorry, I don't have the link handy).

I've also started using many of the "Rebuild" series by Aurelianas on Nexus.

Homemaker expanded settlements has a LOT in it.

But you will also want workshop framework so uncork your build limits and take control of settelments at will (and relinquish control too)

SKE helps for any missing tabs and a few other things.

Homemake is so powerful it reduced my needs for other object mods.

transfer settlement blueprint.

The "Living" series; Here is one example, the others are in the authors "user files" they all start with Living:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/69753

I always add extra stuff and then make that a transfer settlement blueprint

Actually, just a few hours ago, thanks to an unrelated comment I read from member rjrc which had posted a link about another mod, I spent a couple hrs visiting the mods from that link since I'm currently creating my first Fallout-4 build.

There I also found a link to that MW Sentry Turret mentioned in a comment by a guest above, which I'm also interested in. I found it in the Fallout 4 Settlements & Crafting section. (Helpful link, rjrc, thanks)
