I didn't recognize them as they aren't included in any of the playable sets that I have been working with, sorry for making you look through all those files. I'll investigate (try to replicate then solve) this issue in a few days.

Simply install VF Portraits (the VF Portraits file is found at the same place as the Vanilla Framework files) and put it above Vanilla Framework in the load order. thanks i didnt catch that Â
Rimsetteler Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 hay i just re downloaded this and now it doesn't work at all anymore, i am doing a clean mod folder with only vf portraits and vanilla framework 2.41b enabled but i don't see the portraits, its completely vanilla for me. is this on my end or is anyone else having this problem.

That is certainly a strange issue. Are you using the most recent version of stellaris? Because the only thing I can think of that would cause an issue like that would be using a version older than 3.12. Can you test another mod or two to see if there is a problem with loading mods in general?
Traveler123 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Â For some reason, Robot are not noted as machines

It looks like you are using other mods in your screenshot. First, try launching the game with just Lustful Void (optional), Vanilla Framework, and VF Portraits enabled. If you do this and it still does not work, check to make sure that you are using the latest versions of stellaris (3.12.2) and VF (2.41b). If you do this and it works properly, then the issue is an incompatibility with another mod, and you should reactivate your other mods one by one to figure out which mod is causing the issue.

The solar species is one of such event species. I overlooked these species when creating VF Continued, and the next VF update will address their code better. If you are seeing some species like this spawn in your game from events, then things are probably working okay when it comes to important code, however as I said before their portrait coding is definitely well out-of-date and I recommend genociding them for now if you can. Their species will have some graphical issues but other than that your game should be fine.

Under what data is species noted? is it like: Common/species/....  I could look in Irony what overwrites it.
Modalsauce Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 (edited) I having the same Robomoding portrait Issue Roonai had. new install of game and mod, only mod is VF, I checked vanilla and it worked so it is this mod that has the issue. Edited May 20, 2024 by Modalsauce new info

Species are now associated with classes under the common/portrait_sets directory. The portrait groupings you see in the empire creator are determined under common/portrait_categories. If it is a compatibility issue the most likely problem is that the "machines" portrait set is overwritten by another mod.

Thanks, they're supposed to be from dacha system the event where they moved planets from helito into it right?Pretty sure that's were they came from in my game. Anyway would love to see them and/or swimsuit fetish as a playable aquatic species

Species category only determines their grouping in the empire creator, so each species included in the category may be of a different species class, allowing me to set aside all the event species together while keeping them in the appropriate class (such as arthropoid for roaches and humanoid for vault dwellers).

Traveler123 Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I don't understand the most recent update. I still see the vanilla machines in the VF section. There is this trait in LV where robots can mate with another race that also has the type off trait. But i now creates vanilla robot pics instead of VF.Â
Modalsauce Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 Only vanilla Portraits are available in Robomodding. I can select a VF machine portrait in empire creator but if I start as bio VF and make Robots only vanilla Portraits are available.

We don't have the portraits to replace all of the vanilla machine types, so we just kept them in the game.

I haven't found a clear explanation on how machines are programmed in Stellaris yet, for some reason I have to define portraits for a machines species class and a robots species class. Seems redundant, but I got it fixed and am releasing a patch now. 1
Roonai Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I can confirm that my original problem with being able to select a new portrait during robomodding for my "Synthetic Fertility" species is fixed, I turned my cute Goblins into cute Drossel droids! Thank you so much again for all your hard work!

mirzaarmy Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Hey, it seems that the gfx models for Humanoids, Mammalians, and Reptilians are missing resulting in these species all having no portraits when the game is loaded up

ModderWhoModsThings Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 I've been using a custom-made program to make VF since it's such a large mod. I finally got around to publishing it today: I know must people don't have a use for it but I want people to know about it BECAUSE I SPENT 3 DAMN HOURS MAKING THAT USER 12-PAGE MANUAL 1
WolfOfPasloe Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 (edited) Would there ever be the possibility of this becoming a non-replacer at some point? I love the mod but sadly, this mod and Calcifire's portraits cannot coexist. Edited May 29, 2024 by WolfOfPasloe
