mak59 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Repost of what I already posted... Seems en_hawk needs to put the BOSS user list thing in big bold red letters... Lets just get the basics down, so we know if your missing anything. When you run the patcher, it first runs BOSS, so moving the plugins beforehand wont help, as BOSS will move it back again. 1. Install all the files from the download with NMM (Or Manually like en_hawk says to) 2. Manually install the Monli files, as NMM wont work with it's file structure. (At least for me) 3. Open your BOSS user list. (C:\BOSS\Skyrim) or wherever you installed it. 4. Paste OVERRIDE: SK Drow Child Race.esm AFTER: Skykids.esm OVERRIDE: SK Monli Race.esm AFTER: Skykids.esm ADD: monli preset1.esp BOTTOM: Overrides ADD: monli preset2.esp BOTTOM: Overrides ADD: monli preset3.esp BOTTOM: Overrides ADD: SK Child Armor Swapper.esp BOTTOM: Dynamic Plugins 5. Run BOSS 6. Check the order of your plugins The order should be: Skykids.esm SK Monli Race.esm SK Drow Child Race.esm 7. Run the SkyProc Patcher 8. If you use a Batched Patch, make sure it is under SK Armor Patch in your plugins. Thanks! I followed your steps and added Monli & Drow manually. It patched. I think it worked. I'm not sure because I didn't meet any Monli or Drow yet. I am using Children of the Sky on top of this. will it cause an issue? I'm still not quite sure about the differences between the two mods.
JerWA Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 There are no NPCs built into Skykids yet, so you will not encounter any drow or monli unless you make yourself into one. I do have some beta followers posted in the thread somewhere but they're just normal Skykids hehe.

Looking forward to next updates

I have a question involving the load order of this, one other mod and the bashed patch. First of all im using Jaysus Swords, Heavy Armory, and Winter Is Coming Cloaks. Bash Patching for all these. Done. The patch is at the very end, preceded by Sk Armor Swapper and Dual Sheath Redux Patch from its SkyProc Patcher, but DSRD isnt working right anymore.. Could anyone here possibly help with this?

For everyone that is using mods for crafting items such as Jaysus Swords that were made before the creation kit came out: They cause issues such as CTDs. Use Sharlikrans Patch. it fixes these issues. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/26230/?
arr0w Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 @ shadow fox thanks for this id over looked that, got that patch and i also found out my problem was mostly from DSRD, i didnt have the mesh packs for Heavy Armory and JaySus swords, the latter of which i found here. In general, possibly one for en_hawk: What exactly is the reason that Skykids isn't NMM compatible? O.o I used it that way and it worked fine for me? Lol
Rez Delnava Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 @arr0w The core files can be installed with NMM since they are all upper-level/structured directories (i.e. the Data folder is the first folder you see once you unzip the archive), but once you start adding the optional files NMM fails completely. If you were to add the [Optional] Cosmetic mod compatibility patches file using NMM, it would at best add everything (a problem if people don't have/want all the options) and at worst just add a jumble of files that the game couldn't read because they were placed in the wrong directory. If you want/need a mod organizer, most people here would suggest Mod Organizer It uses the same 'download with organizer' links that you see on the nexus, but has a number of added benefits, including manual installation overides if you need them (like you do here). In other Skykids related news, as promised I've been working on giving the guys a little attention. While I was downloading 3DsMax, I used the time to find and adapt some hairs for the boys (that are not the Apachii male hairs, which I believe en_hawk is already working on?) This is a patch for Vie's Hair - Male Collection This looks to be a WIP from the modder as many of the hairs have a slight mis-match on positioning (ear gaps, clipping, too high on forehead, etc) and the textures are not spectacular. Drawbacks aside, some of them look really nice and not out of place on a kid. You'll of course need the original file, SK properly installed, then place this after Skykids and the Vie hair esm/p's. This esp is an overwrite of the headpart data from Vie's esp swapping the valid race entry from the default to ones used by SK. The original flagged the hairs only for humans and vamps, but I changed the flag to allow the mer races as well. Right now, these are Male only, if you see any that you would like for females let me know so I can switch the gender data. As mentioned above, there are problems with the meshes, but these issues are present on the adults too, and are beyond my abilities to fix. Enjoy. SK Vie Collection Male Hair.7z
mak59 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Having so much fun with this. Seeing a little kid lay waste to a group of bandit is strangely hilarious. Have yet to get to the first dragon but that should be soon. Too bad my little character can't seem to win the heart of the fair madens (Strikingly similar problem to my teen years) like his older counterpart. I guess Romance mod is not compatible.
JerWA Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 There is more good stuff coming very soon. Stay tuned!
hardjerky Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Tried everything and every time I try to select a child race, the game shuts down. I followed the steps but I am unable to get this to work. Little confused on the Race Compatibility. The file I got from Nex has like 18 folders. I'm new to mods with Skyrim. I have downloaded BOSS, Wrye, SKSE, BOSS Userlist Manager. I'm used to Fallout 3. Mods were a bit simple. If someone can help me out on what to do, I'd appreciate it.
Emprah Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I am noticing a seam along the wrist on my character when using a bow. I noticed it on my Imperial Child, Male.

Mods were a bit simple. If someone can help me out on what to do, I'd appreciate it. Race Compat is meant to be installed via NMM, it will ask you questions and pick out the correct files for you based on your answers. I'm not sure if it is Wrye installer compatible or not. If you're dead-set against using NMM let me know and I'll go look in the archive to see how bad it will be trying to pick things out manually. You will also need BOSS installed and the userlist entries from the first post of this thread at the very least. And after you run the armor patcher the first time there will be a new file in your load order but it won't be active (SK Child Armor Swapper.esp) that you will need to activate as well. I am noticing a seam along the wrist on my character when using a bow. I noticed it on my Imperial Child, Male. In first person or third? And wearing what armor? I'll go see if I can duplicate it, but more info is always appreciated. Edit: And are you using the original or alternate boy body? Edit: I'm seeing a seam only when not wearing gloves/gauntlets. Does that match what you're seeing?
Rez Delnava Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I get the wrist seam too (human races, bare hands, most armors with exposed wrists), but I use the alternate male body, which as I understand it, has been discontinued in favor of the other body... so I didn't mention it before. It doesn't bother me much at this point since I'm just doing sandbox/testing; if it did I would just go and align the normals on the hand/wrist mesh (which if this gap issue is anything like sims3 gap issues, should fix it).

That is exactly what I see.

hardjerky Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 So I did all of that and the game still crashes when selecting race. I think its time to give up. Thanks for the help.
en_hawk Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 There is more good stuff coming very soon. Stay tuned! Good stuff involves finally getting a functional NPC replacer. Here's a taste of that comparing the original face candidates pre-CGE to their updated versions that take advantage of CGE's [really cool] export feature. (I don't know why the thumbnail is so small) Looking into getting some standalone followers implemented as well. There's also some bugfixes in the pipe. Male face specular map is fixed, so no more blockyness, CGE ECE patch is fixed to now work on males as well. I've got some other stuff to look into before that stuff launches in the form of a hotfix, but its coming soon. Monli presets are getting fixed too.
Rez Delnava Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I hate to be a pain in the ass, but do you have a uni-body mesh for the default male? The waistband on the current bare boy body is driving me nuts while trying to adapt meshes (and relearning 3DsMax at the same time has combined to make me loco).

RadioSilence Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 I'm really liking where this is going, and it feels a lot more complete than the other ones. @ en_hawk That preview image, the 6th face over from the left, the after image. It may just be me, or that hairstyle, but I think her facial features are a bit to low. The chin looks rather small, while the forehead looks really large. --Just my opinion though-- Is there any chance we could get tattoo's later? The drow's runes are really cool looking, and I think that it would be cool to have tattoo choices for the other children at least, it could be explained by the back-story you give your character with the alternate start mod, or just for plain awesomeness. I am of course, not talking about the war paints. @ Anyone Someone should make some clothes for walking around towns and such. Cause this mod is awesome... http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38403/?

Where the mesh is a single NiTriShape in NifSkope (preferably without underwear and in the 'ken doll' state). And if it still has a hole in the mesh from where you adapted it from the SOS body, thats perfectly fine; I just need the whole body to hijack the skeleton weights from (I can't get my spell to work on piecemeal meshes

I believe race menu or one of its addons has functionality to support body paint(which you could presumably load tattoos into), is that what you're looking for? Where the mesh is a single NiTriShape in NifSkope (preferably without underwear and in the 'ken doll' state). And if it still has a hole in the mesh from where you adapted it from the SOS body, thats perfectly fine; I just need the whole body to hijack the skeleton weights from (I can't get my spell to work on piecemeal meshes I'll see what I can put together for you.
