Red Menace, in probably its final form.

The Samurai cockpit, single line habs and Tayio landers are at first glance reminiscent of an Ecliptic Stiletto.  Unlike the Stiletto however, the Menace has a forward facing bay which gives onto a 1x1 companionway hab to which is also attached the docker.

The benefit there is that however you enter the ship, you're always right next to the cockpit and the AIO Crew Hab. The downside of the approach is that it limits you to a single level design.

 

The other major difference from the Stiletto design are the twin Supernova 2200s engines, and the Pinch 8Z Reactor that powers them.

The braces used to anchor the engines securely to the hull also provide natural mounting points for the ships armaments. 6 x Vanguard Obliterators, 6 x PB 300 Alpha  Beams and a quartet of Fulminator 8000 Suppressors for boarding actions.

The Menace is fast, deadly and has a decent cargo capacity.

The major drawback of the design is a lack of crafting stations. The engines are at their limit for the weight of the craft so there's very little I can add without sacrificing Mobility. I had thought to add a pair of White Dwarf engines  to supplement the Supernova, but it turns out the landers draw power and the WDs push me over the 12 power limit. So short of a major makeover, this looks like being the Menace's final form.

Still, it's a comfortable enough craft, and after the ever mutating chaos of Wrunkards Dalk, a little stability is a blessing.

This one will do. At least until Unity calls again and I have to start over from scratch.

Keeping the color theme, here's three vanilla designs upgraded and repainted.

 

Midnight Bliewas one of the Va'ruun Hymns orbiting Venus in The Old Neighbourhood.

I'd probably have kept Midnight until Unity, but I wanted to do Overdesigned, and I didn't have any crew capacity. So I switched to a ship that did have some passenger space:

But then off course, I had Walter's new ship to play with, and since I had money to burn, I thought I'd bring it up to spec a little.

Honestly, I still think I like Midnight Blue the most.

Taking advantage of InquisitorOverhauls' Glowing Ship Modules. Always did like a bit of a light show.

Like it says, this is the Danger Sign. Why? Because Red means "danger", right? And also I couldn't think of anything clever that fitted in the shipbuilder text box.

This lovey lady is called The Catcher In The Sky (with apologoes to J. D. Salinger).

Named partly for those great tentacular looking weapon mounts that seem to be reaching forward to grab you, and also for the impressive array of suppressor weapons aimed at capturing ships rather than just destroying them.

The lighting looks better in game than taking a picture in photo mode. I take the Narwhal as a base, max out my weapons and crew space. I replaced the default Class B engines with Class C engines. I have a mod that lets me max out my available energy so I won't be hating life.

After that character joined the Vanguard, she ended up working for SysDef. That prompted me to build another variant, The Stheno:

This design has gone through a ton of revisions, and that continues with my Crimson Pirate character, who flies the Medusa. The Medusa uses Elianora's Crimson Fleet hab modules and cockpit, so it's based on HopeTech modules instead of Deimos.

It's a flying slab, but as it turns out: Flying slabs work well for turret platforms. Notice the cargo space: That's from Elianora's storage and armory habs. The storage habs add 700 cargo space each, and the armory adds 400. I had to ditch some of the shielded cargo pods in order to bring her down below the max mass for top speed and mobility.

 

My CF chars other ship, the Gremlin, is a much lighter, much faster, much more melty, Raider-class designed for extreme difficulty. That ship just melts everything. I'll post it if folks are interested.

Still working on trying to get a design built around two giant weapon mounts. The first one would have been great, but the cockpit was nestled between the mounts and  they blocked out all peripheral vision.Second one I might have stuck with, but I forgot the builder  doesn't let you rename Crimson Fleet ships.

 

Still, third time's the charm, huh? Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you The Dead Of Night.

My latest creation. Looks odd in 3rd person mode, so it's not recommended to fly it like that, if the design is copied; the back engine is right in your face. I call it the Stingray. I am also using a number of mods, which make the ship design better over all, for example the radiators increase shield capacity, so they serve a purpose, if I remember correctly I'm also using a mod that makes landing gear better, so it might not be possible to use the amount seen here in a vanilla play through.

What ship mods are you using? I would definitely be interested in something that reduces my landing gear count

Well for my ship I always steal an Ecliptic Claymore III and modify it while keeping the same shape. Maybe I will try to expand the main hull in my next NG+

so the floor plan might not be That unique, But it does have one Hell of a cockpit:

I got tired of playing my pirate, so went back to the space cop. Downloaded a couple of mods (here and here), then decided I was tired of the UCS Stheno looking like a slab. This is the result; it may look vaguely slightly infringy.

It only took three flipped parts to make this, and it's a beast in combat on extreme difficulty. I'm really diggin' the turret platforms. I'm thinking about creating a Vanguard Obliterator turret mod, so I can have six of those puppies on a single power bank. They'd be awesome for a close-in-weapon-system, and the pew pew would be amazing.

My latest space camper build, the Star Nova, named from being mostly Nova Galactic parts. Nova Galactic is very NASA inspired, in fact the interior portions seem to be based off of current space station design and what appears to be lunar lander design, so I was inspired to make it look a bit like a space shuttle.

Do you get a lot of value out of ballistics? I prefer 2 x particle beams + EM, but then I've never really invested in ballistics so I'm curious how they perform at high level.

I call this the Conequest XR. It's a ship designed almost exclusively out of Stroud Eklund components and is a massive all purpose kind of vessel.

What does it has? Cargo space for days and enough hull strength to compenstate for it's slightly lacking weapons arrangements. It doesn't go anywhere in a hurry, but it's gonna get you where you want to go in one piece. 
I tried to make this as symetrical as it gets, so there's a few spaces that don't actually do anything and is just there for the sake of aesthetic, and the ship is so big that in some planets like Gagarin, you need to teleport after you land from the map as the ship's length prevents you from walking off the platform. In New Atlantis, it also blocks the ramp going up so you have to jetpack off to the side. A bit inconvenient yes, but I like my starships with comfort.

Their not very good at taking out shields, true. But if you melt the shield with a few lasers, they melt the hull without those shields being able to regen.
