Vortex Lord Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 I'm gonna be really jealous of Starfield in these coming years. I know it. And I sincerely hope it's not gonna be for Fallout 4 what New Vegas was for Fallout 3. For Skyrim I'm not worried, that game's not gonna die even after TES6 comes out. But I do enjoy FO4, it's my guilty pleasure. 2
xXDeliteXx Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Whenever they drop that patch that fixes the performance, i'll definitely come back to Fallout 4.
Cookiemonsta234 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Agreed. Fallout 4 was the first game that I ever applied mods to. I did not even know the modding scene existed before then. 1
South8028 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 (edited) I doubt Starfield will get any havok tools in the next 2 years. Understand... If Microsoft had bought havok just a year or two years earlier, there would be no animation for fo4 today. We can animate the bones in fo4 because some people downloaded hct2014 before it was sold by Microsoft and distributed it illegally. Although... I really hope that bethesda will give us a gift and release official bgs plugins for 3ds, or Maya. But I'm 90% sure it won't. Edited August 31, 2023 by South8028

I'm sure Toddy will be focused on mods and how to monetise them as a priority...
ahboy99 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 i'm highly doubt it will kill fo4 modding. due to lack of interest further.
ebbluminous Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Might not killing FO4 modding, but it will cause it to slow down - Some modders on FO4 will do Starfield mods and so due to limited resources (time) a choice will need to be made. New, shiny likely to win. I can see the same happening to Skyrim, but will not be noticed as much due to the larger scene... 1
Nuka Cherry Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I have a sneaking suspiscion that MS and Beth are going to tighten the screw on modding on Starfield, and this will make it less open than Skyrim and (to a lesser extent) FO4. Can't be having all that free fun, now can we? 1
BAB PEEG Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Going to take months for starfield to be worth playing, moders have to fix the ugly models, bad weapon sounds, no jiggle physics, the billions of bugs, etc. 3

Wandering_Mania Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Naa... If anything it'll strengthen it. Because Starfield is looking like another episode of Fallout 76, just in a different way. And Fallout 4 is still a decent game in itself. Leaving FO4 as a 'fall back' place for those that heard how boring Starfield was, but wanted to play a BGS game again. At least, that's what the case was for me. So don't sweat it, as there's no possibility of that happening.
Cookiemonsta234 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Creation kit 2 will ultimately be the deciding factor since its supposed to be a "Massively updated version of their current engine" If modders are able to do more in Starfield than Fo4 there should be reason to be concerned I was hoping that features in creation kit 2 could be implemented into fo4 to improve performance somehow.

And I don't know why game studios fear modding and open sourcing especially. On the other side modders are really iffy when it comes to permissions.

mazato Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 FO4 didn't kill modding for Skyrim. On the other hand, SF and FO4 are more similar, I guess it will boils down to if the new version of the engine allows for things that couldn't be done or were harder to do in FO4.

That and how popular Starfield remains to be after launch. If it dies off a lot, modding likely not to take off in a big way
EngineGaming Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) Starfield simply intended to kill the fallout 4 modding on purpose!! ? Edited September 8, 2023 by EngineGaming

As you said, Skyrim and FO4 are two different games. The fear is that Starfield is very similar to FO4 but with the difference that the first focuses more on exploration and the second on the shooter part. Anyway, don't pay too much attention to what I say, I haven't been able to play Starfield because my PC is not enough to run it well.
belegost Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) Starfield costs almost 80€. For digital copy. That's way above what I'm willing to pay for a game. 70 is already a no sell for me. I'm not getting it until it goes on sale and cuts the price by at least half. So realistically, in 10 years maybe, if ever. Edited September 8, 2023 by belegost
FauxFurry Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 There is no Automatron equivalent for Starfield yet so the modders specializing in robot mods are most likely going to stay put, at least.

katrina.balanchuk Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Luckily the key FO4 mods have already been made. And we can have many plots and advetures with this. To expand them should not be so much effort.

Just like Musk putting X behind a Paywall. Money, Money, Money ......Money. O'Jays classic here on LL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXE_n2q08Yw&list=RDGXE_n2q08Yw&start_radio=1 I would not get in a twist over it, I have been playing Starfield since it dropped and in my mind there is nothing to worry about. Starfield's main quest is being a glorified delivery Serf. It will be a while before anyone is able to produce Good Mods for it. From what I have seen the game has more haters than Lovers. My opinion is there are too many hardcore F4 fans for modding to Fallout.
ebbluminous Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 What we really need to discuss is will FO3:Remastered modding kill FO4 modding...
