Cranky Cat Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I always see the note when starting AAF when it looks for "Unlimited Companion Framework" and doesn't find it. So, what does AAF do differently with that mod if it is installed? Just wondering! I had planned on using Amazing Follower Tweaks.
Dodzh Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 in my case I use AFT at the very last of my load order and runs fine
Cranky Cat Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to go back to such an old mod like UCF. I suspect AAF just uses UCF to handle and detect having more than one companion on events which affect them all. The strangely named Liga of my companions is a newer mod I was considering instead of AFT since I wasn't planning on using the save-your-spouse or layout imports anymore. Still not used by AAF for whatever it uses UCF for obviously.
MrFuturehope Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I guess it's just a compatibility patch like you have with many script heavy mods such as MCG detecting Crime and Punishment, Crime and Punishment detecting Family Planning Enhanced, etc... It's most likely something that automatically gets triggered in certain conditions just to prevent some nasty undesirable behavior.
assassin394 Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 I'm still using Unlimited Companion Framework. ATF just too buggy for me. Companion not following, can't dismiss...etc
Tefnacht Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 AAF IS using Unlimited Companion Framework for something. I just started to install a new modded FO4 with AAF focus and although my play style is solo, AAF was warning me about not having UCF so I installed it... Now there is a new menu in the AAF interface dealing with companions. And the warning about not having that is gone. My degenerate mind thinks: Easy group sex. 1

AAF uses the UCF API to detect when companions are added and to give some basic controls in the GUI for adding/removing them. Nothing that is likely vital for the most common AAF build-outs. The other companion frameworks should not interfere with AAF. They just wont link up to the same extra features. More relationship-related features are planned for the UCF connection. But, its uncertain if/when I will be able to add those. 2
