Just to respond to this: I've had a few.. encounters... with the Bjaergtroll with no crashes. Specifically at the bench and book location behind the farm. Running 1.6.640 as well. Can't say if it may occur outside of that spawn area... I keep rebuilding my game to tune, I seem to play DyndoLOD more than Skyrim. :) So far no problems with this MOD. Incidentally, yesterday I had a little gleeful chuckle as I encountered a little mushroom running away from me... Wonderful additions of little random creatures you've tacked in there. Serious appreciation. :)
Royal308 Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 I don't have any mods on the list that would possible conflict with Demonic Creatures so I'm not sure why I'm having this issue alone. The only way I was able to bypass it is by using Demonic Creature Manager. I had to remove the Bjaergtroll just to stop the crashing. I might try reinstalling everything again and see if that makes a difference. Thanks
BigBoyBilly Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Great mod but will there ever be a fomod? I'd really just like the monsters

Thanks There may be a conflict/issue not directly with your Demonic Creatures install, but upstream with one of its requirements...? If it helps, my DC install is in 4 parts: Demonic Creatures v1.7 Demonic Creatures v1.71 patch (Didn't go to 1.72 as it looked like a fix specific to 1.6 updating)... possibly related..? Demonic Creatures SMP meshes Demonic Creatures 1.62 SMP patch Since (as I understand it..?) the Bjaergtroll uses the Riekling skeleton/animations, is it an install/conflict/load order issue with MNC/ASOS.. or other mods interacting there? Hope something there helps isolate the issue, and good luck! :) 1
Royal308 Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 I managed to fix the issue and in my it was the ABC that was causing the issue. It was the load order and it needed some patch. I did mine exactly like your load order. Thanks you 1

Any issues on your end so far? I might give it a try

So I rolled with them. :) And unless there were specific issues, being out of date would really just mean they were missing new creatures. But with the limited time I've got in, I've not had any problems... but it's Skyrim, they just need to be found. :) 1

Should probably give them an higher level alchemy ingredient. If anyone have an idea for something "interesting" I can add "somewhere" then I'm all in as long as it's simple. I've been thinking of adding a skeleton of a creature humping a human skeleton from behind. They died together when the human pierced a sword through her stomach to kill the creature ?.

If it worked before, you must try undo the things you did before the CTD. It could be literally anything from wrong bashed patches, load orders or mod conflicts ?

Thanks There is a link for this on the download page, under the spoiler heading for Addons and Compatibility patches. In that list, it is the bottom of the "Up to date" links, for the SMP meshes. This links to a post with the meshes, and a few other files, including the SMP patch. Link here: Hope that helps 1
Bigglsby Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 My turn for a problem. :) I just had a dangerous nights encounter with a default draugr and a draugr slave. Once aroused and triggering a peen, the draugr slave went purple, suggesting a missing texture. The ABC mesh was doing it's thing, but full body was purple. Once all the scene was over and the peen went away, texture returned to normal. Looking in creature framework, it's assigned Demonic Creatures correctly, under the wolf heading (if I'm remembering that correctly). No texture issues with standard wolves though... is there something on my end, or is there a missing texture in the mod? Possibly on my end, I'm still on 1.71, since it was a clean install and 1.72 patch looks like it was specific to missing files from 1.6x update.

Defently install patch 1.72 too since it holds updated json files. I'm not sure if that explains the purple issue though since I didn't provide any fileupdates on the draugr slave. All I kind of did related to that draugrdoggy in v1.72 was to update its name in the demoniccreature.json file. If that could cause such an issue, no idea. You could try install the patch and spawn the draugr slave afterwards. Also, open up the file draugrdogHARD.nif with outfitstudio and see how it looks. You can locate the file in the folder data\meshes\newcreatures\VICN\canine\. The creature uses default installed draugr textures. If there's anything wrong with the texture paths it should show up textureless there. I've checked all downloads for SE and I can't find anything wrong with the texture paths. Which makes your issue very weird. I kind of expected an error here.

Normally I try to keep all my mods updated, even if it doesn't seem any relevant/necessary changes... so odd for me to have specifically skipped 1.72, even if it didn't look "necessary". I'm guessing you did update the name in the .json for a reason. I opened up the mesh with my current 1.71, and it looks normal and as would be expected. So I'm guessing your change was to fix...something. But it might be something else entirely. I have vague recollection of the purple model having a knotted schlong, as would the wolf model. The model in outfit studio, which appears normal, has a standard draugr schlong. So it could have been ASOS or the like trying to steal the thunder and causing the problem. Can't understand how that would be the case though, since there isn't a file conflict/overwrite, and creature framework had it associated with Demonic creatures. But that could also just be me misremembering what I saw too. Anywho - I'm going to update my derelict install. Situation is different though, as I've also pulled ASOS from my load order, along with some other changes. I may be narrowing in on something I'm happy with, enough to play longer than the run to Whiterun. Thanks for the help, and again, thanks for the great mod. Update: I found the problem. When adding in the 1.72 patch, I was looking again at the stack of overwrites from the other addons. The SMP meshes addon (not the SMP patch addon) includes a new mesh for draugrdogHARD, including a wolf style schlong. The .nif in outfit studio also shows something isn't linking right, while a sample of other meshes from the addon are fine. So it appears there is a problem with the SMP mesh with that specific creature...possibly others. May be worth a note on the addon section. Edited May 10, 2023 by Bigglsby Problem found

If I do some texture path corrections (like a did with some of the undead schlongs in v1.7), or do mesh corrections like bonefixing, specularity or similar, the version v1.62 HDT SMP meshes will completely by overwriting the updated files. It's a minor issue most cases since it's primary cosmetics, unless I change texture paths like I did with undead draugr creatures. Hopefully LoveNothing is still with us and can do an update. On the other side, I've yet to see a video with HDT SMP in works together with creatures. Does it make a difference? I've recently installed the BHUNP 3BBB advanced body now and cold easily swap to HDT SMP. But it takes much work for me to convert all the armors I have lying around. So I'm wondering if it's really worth it.

Since I've only ever used this mod recently, and with the SMP meshes installed. So I don't have a good perspective on running without. Devoting your dev time to converting everything may not be best... I just couldn't speak for how many of your users prefer with or without. I'm sure there is quite few people running hardware that would much prefer to keep physics as minimal as possible for performance reasons.
