Guest Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) > After downgrading Anniversary to Skyrim SE, Steam is constantly updating the game. My Prince checked the settings on Steam and there is no option to disable it. Anyone with solution? Thanks. Edited September 15, 2022 by Evaloves4
Wolfshrike Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Set the game to update only when launched in steam and don't allow background downloads, and only launch via SKSE from your mod loader of choice. 1
Fiend71 Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) Disable updates by selecting "only update on launch", then ONLY ever launch from SKSE. Always make sure Steam's running too, or else cancel any update or download. Edit: Ninja'd by @Wolfshrike...lol Edited September 15, 2022 by Fiend71

My Prince checked the settings on Steam and there is no option to disable it. Anyone with solution? Thanks. yep, Pretty old man. tell him to do this: go to the game's Library page > Properties > Updates and select only update when he launches it. Since every modded Skyrim will start with the SKSE Launcher, not the Steam Launcher, steam will have no means to know that's started. To be even more sure, set Steam to offline. Only online when you actually do need to be. This blocks updates too.
Alessia Wellington Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 There should be an option to pause updates. Right click the game's icon in your library and go to properties. Look for "Updates" and set it to "Only update this game when I launch it." Spoiler
traison Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 5 posts with the same suggestion, can we get a 6th?
Gukahn Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Just now, traison said: 5 posts with the same suggestion, can we get a 6th? Well if 4 or 5 people see it and decide to answer, all needing time to write their stuff, obviously don't update the Page before clicking submit, something like this happens. Any other shit you wanna get out your system? ? 2

shrtjsrtj Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Occasionally it'll ignore my setting and install AE, if that ever becomes a problem for you you can go into offline mode by starting Steam when you have no internet access. So turn off Wifi or unplug your Ethernet cable and then start Steam, that's the nuclear option.
Guest Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) > Thank you very much everyone ? You rock. There is a new problem now. The downagrade patcher my Prince installed from here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57618 doesn't work anymore. We can't find a new downgrader. Steam totally fucked up everything > That means SKSE is not working AGAIN. Edited September 15, 2022 by Evaloves4
metalhead_hr Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 You can try the downgrader page again, the author posted a new version a couple of minutes ago. 1

Guest Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) After this fiasco and stopping counting how many times he tried to make fucking SE working, my Prince will stop trying. He patched the game again, and overwrote three files i got and fucking SKSE loader showed this hateful message again: > although it is right there fucking moron? Edited September 15, 2022 by Evaloves4
Tron91 Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Set the manifest file for SkyrimSE in steam to read-only. Your Skyrim won't ever update again. That's what I did for months before finally upgrading to AE. If you need the old exe, i just uploaded it to the SE Compatibility Thread
Tron91 Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 This is the manifest file for Skyrim Spoiler

Guest Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) > It is interesting how sometimes "I will give it one more try" actually change the whole thing. SKSE is working now and the fucking game doesn't update anymore. Much appreciated for all your help. You guys, you are ... Edited September 15, 2022 by Evaloves4
