Set the game to update only when launched in steam and don't allow background downloads, and only launch via SKSE from your mod loader of choice.

Disable updates by selecting "only update on launch", then ONLY ever launch from SKSE. Always make sure Steam's running too, or else cancel any update or download.

yep, Pretty old man.

tell him to do this:

go to the game's Library page > Properties > Updates and select only update when he launches it. Since every modded Skyrim will start with the SKSE Launcher, not the Steam Launcher, steam will have no means to know that's started.

To be even more sure, set Steam to offline. Only online when you actually do need to be. This blocks updates too.

There should be an option to pause updates. Right click the game's icon in your library and go to properties. Look for "Updates" and set it to "Only update this game when I launch it."

Occasionally it'll ignore my setting and install AE, if that ever becomes a problem for you you can go into offline mode by starting Steam when you have no internet access. So turn off Wifi or unplug your Ethernet cable and then start Steam, that's the nuclear option.

After this fiasco and stopping counting how many times he tried to make fucking SE working, my Prince will stop trying. He patched the game again, and overwrote three files i got and fucking SKSE loader showed this hateful message again:

Set the manifest file for SkyrimSE in steam to read-only. Your Skyrim won't ever update again. That's what I did for months before finally upgrading to AE. If you need the old exe, i just uploaded it to the SE Compatibility Thread
