Adam Jensen Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I know every year we have some bad games, but frankly I'm amazed by the amount of crap we have gotten in the past few weeks. Normally some of the bad games actually had some redeemable qualities, but were in executed poorly in the process. But this year, I can at least point 4 games that are practically broken. The first one is actually a major disappointment imo, Aliens: Colonial Marines had some potential, sadly Gearbox pretty much screwed Sega. Then we have Omerta: City of Gangsters, Ride To Hell: Retribution and today's craptastic Dark. These games aren't just bad, they are practically unplayable and it's honestly amazing that we get games so broken at the end of the road, when developers are supposed to understand how the system works.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 gearbox stole money from sega and 3drealms to create borderlands, and that's nasty
gregathit Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 WHAT?!?!?! Tell me you aren't dissing BL2!!!! Them's fighting words!!!! I seriously love that freaking game. On Topic: When Rome 2 Total War comes out in September that pretty much will be GOTY as far as I am concerned. Don't forget about Saints Row 4 either! That will most likely be kick ass as well.

Ohh I'm not talking bad about BL2, I'm talking bad about that Aliens game that Gearbox was supposed to develop but outsourced to a third developer. Speaking of SR4? Are you guys gonna make a new section for it? I heard it's going to have mod support.
Sensual Nautilus Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I personally think this year was not as bad as 12. 12 was riddled with and unusual amount of crappy movie licensed games and development and business gimmicks, and titles which had high to average expectations that just plummeted in performance and quality, or just simply was not up to expectations. That said though, I completely agree with the titles that the first post mentioned. just... bleck! Colonial Marines broke my xenomorph heart.
Adam Jensen Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 My problem with 2012 is that practically no game impressed. My top three games from that year are Xenoblade Chronicles, X-COM Enemy Unknown and Lego LOTR.

Speaking of SR4? Are you guys gonna make a new section for it? I heard it's going to have mod support. I know you weren't. I was responding to post 2. If SR4 warrants it, then I am sure we will look into it. I would agree that all of the games you mentioned in the OP were Over-hyped turds. If Rome 2 and SR4 weren't coming out this year, then 2013 would indeed be a dismal letdown in my book. However Rome 2 is enough to have me jumping up and down and cheering that 2013 is the greatest year EVER!!!! I will probably be REALLY scarce around the forums for a month or so after it comes out. The original Rome TW game sucked me in hard, and that era is hands down my favorite for RTS games. With the SR series to me it is the perfect balance of silly and action, to keep me coming back for more.
Strelky Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Saints Row game + me = throws entire months salary at the screen Aliens: CM + me = breaks keyboard in half New keyboard + me = -$90 down the toilet
lordofthedread Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Actually Ride To Hell is not bad, it is not unplayable, it is just the lamest game I played like ever since E.T. on Atari 2600. Deadpool was a major disapointment also. We had some good games already since the start of 2013 like the latest Tomb Raider or more recently Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition and we are only half way in 2013. I did not try Alien Colonial Marines but it does look very bad indeed, I did not tried Dark either. Still there are games that I do look forward in 2013 like GTA 5 and Watch Dogs, never been a huge fan of Saint Rows. Back in 2012 we had also some nice games like Far Cry 3, Darksiders 2 (which I am currently playing and it is just great) and I am pretty sure others could point you to games they did enjoy in 2012.
Brigade Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Dark Souls 2, Saints Row 4, Thief, various independent titles.
DMCDante Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 This year had some great games, for me atleast. I have about 800 hours into borderlands 2 lol Bioshock: Infinite was my favorite game up untill I got my hands of The Last Of Us. The Last Of Us is probably one of the best games of ALL times, for me atleast.
D_ManXX2 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Wait there will be a saints row IV ?? i still need to play saints row 2 and 3.
BruceWayne Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Maybe I'm alone with this, but after seeing the GTA V gamplay demo yesterday, I have still faith that this year can turn around. No PC version in sight though. Well, I need to dust of my 360 anyway. Saints Row 4 looks ridicuolous. All previews look like they're jumping the shark with that one. Modding support is awesome though.
D_ManXX2 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Actually someone pointed me this out: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/16827-gta-v/?do=findComment&comment=443696 I read the article and maybe there will be a pc version. If it comes true then that could be new best one for 2013/2014 This a direct link but don't seem to work. you need to click on news and scroll down till you see: Rockstar Leeds hiring to bring "Latest title to PC" http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/07/09/rockstar-leeds-hiring-to-bring-latest-titles-to-the-pc.aspx
BruceWayne Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Well, I'm still waiting for a Red Dead Redemption PC version (figure of speech, I'm not really waiting). I have it for the 360, but a PC version would be very sweet. With that being said, until now they've always released every major GTA title to PC (with delay). Not sure if I want to wait that long though.
lordofthedread Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Actually Rockstar didnt said that they will not rlease a PC version, if they did please point to me where. As usual it will come late and we can just hope it wont be a lousy port
BruceWayne Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Never did I say that. All I said was, that there is no PC version in sight (no annoncement) and in the second post I've said that they've released every major GTA title for PC until now. Your guess is as good as mine, about what will happen.
Astaroth-Lite Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I really don't see anything worse than what I saw in the past. Don't be so pessimistic, just get what's good and leave the rest to fade from memory.
formel Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Have to agree the releases for 2013 are quite weak and unintresting untill now. Probably it is due to the end of the current console generation. But as long the major publisher think there audience consits only out of intellectually challenged people who fear every bit of depth and intellectual demand games won't become much better.
windpl Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Omerta was a big disappointment, I was hoping for Gangster organized crime sort of game but well... Anyway I was expecting that, Omerta was published by Kalipso they are infamous for bad games, but still that team made Tropico so I had some hope for it. Fool hope
M.BISON Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 guess you never played these metal gear rising the last of us tomb raider there was a few more but these are my favorite so far and there are more good games to come!!! 2012 was also not a bad year
Daguy Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 My issue is this, and the fact that so many games I was actually looking forwards to are now Q2/3 2014 when they were supposed to come out late this year. Last of Us, Bioshock, and all these are great games I'm sure - but i'm a PC gamer first and foremost, and a role-playing fanatic after that. Pair these two together and we have had a pretty bleak year on top of the various titles that bombed. Dark was one I was looking forwards to, but after watching a lets play I didn't drop the cash for it. On the upside, this year was the kick in the pants I needed to actually boot up the old Xbox for more than watching DVDs. A lot of old games got some HD facelifts.
lordofthedread Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Must suck not owning a console. Actually the latest game that I wanted to play on a console was The last of Us but it does not justify buying one, in fact it must suck more not having a proper gaming PC IMO.
Adam Jensen Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 I played Metal Gear Rising (Didn't like it that much), Tomb Raider was good but nothing but nothing out of ordinary and Bioshock Infinite was amazing and so far my goty. I have a 360, a Wii and a 3DS. I just love how people tend to take things out of context. People, I'm not saying 2013 hasn't had any good games, I'm just pointing out that this year has seen quite a few crap games that not only were they bad, they were downright unplayable. Oh and I forgot to mention The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct and a Rambo gaming coming up.
