lordofthedread Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Oh my god survival instinct was so damn lame, it can share the trash with ride to hell (or they can both ride to hell together...). I agree with you tho, a lot of crappy AAA games were released since the begining of the year, and apart from a very few titles I am definitly not thrilled from whats coming up next, cant say I am expecting anything from the next Dragon Age, I dont play MMO so ESO will be without me and all other games I might be interested in are coming in 2014 (who said TW3?), maybe theres some hope, here is a list of what could surprise us before the end of the year : Batman Arkham Origins (both previous Btaman games were very good, not thrilled tho...) Divinity : Original Sins (this one looks really good) Sacred 3 (hope it will be better than Sacred 2) Legends of Dawn Umbra Might and Magic X Legacy (loved might and magic from the old Heroes 2 ) From that selection you can see what kind of games I am interested in ..... but there may be more surprises in other genres and I might even end up playing FPS games (I did enjoyed Far Cry 3). Off topic I do agree that TR was not extraordinary but I personally never found TR extraordinary to begin with, and in the latest one you do feel immersed in the game and that tend to be a sign of good games for me.
Adam Jensen Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Most of the games I'm looking forward to are for the 3DS xD! I am eager to play Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies, Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon Y, Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Mario and Luigi. Console/PC side, I'm looking forward to Watch Dogs and GTA 5. I'm done with AC though.
Adam Jensen Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 I think TR would had been even better if it didn't have so many damn QTE.
Astaroth-Lite Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Must suck not owning a console. Because you get to miss out on... ...you know, that one game, but just that one.
The DarkSlayer Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Is it that bad buying a console just for one game? I practically did that from the consoles I own lol. Let me see, bought myself a ps2 just to play Snake Eater, then the Ps3 just to play Uncharted, Wii just to play Monster Hunter then Xenoblade came out, SNES just to play Super Metroid, GameCube just to play WindWaker and then bunch of awesome games came out from each of them. Yeah Good times...

Yeah Good times... Hardly. I bought a Wii so I could play Skyward Sword, a DS so I could play pokemon. Of course after that I found many good exclusives for both.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Hey, I'm buying a Vita just for the Ys 4 remake, because any system that has a proper Ys release is worth owning.
M.BISON Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 i got a wii to play metroid prime 3 and zelda a ds to play castvania ps3 to play metal gear solid 4 but before that i had a 360 to play gears of war i just like games!!!! and about the new tomb raider i thought it was really good, amazing story and gameplay only bad thing it was too easy and the MP way better than the previous cold blooded killer lara croft
M.BISON Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 btw i dont have a problem with pc gaming, i aim this at post made by some pc gamers and thats a lot on this site

gregathit Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 btw i dont have a problem with pc gaming, i aim this at post made by some pc gamers and thats a lot on this site Actually console gaming looks more like this: or this (yes it is a cheap shot, and no I personally don't believe it): ROFL!!!! As I said, it was a cheap shot. The argument of which is superior, has and will go on forever without any resolution. There are advantages to both systems, however the flexibility to mod things offered by PC's is really hard beat......even with a very large stick.

With Steam's offers nowadays your initial investment pays off with the ability to purchase practically any new game at a cheap price. I mean I just got BL2 with Season Pass for 20 bucks !
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Considering I've seen so many people actually COMPLAIN about local multiplayer, and people actually trying to defend talking on headsets to their friends who live in the same area but refuse to come over because "Well, we can just play online, right?", I don't see the difference in play style... other than the input device. And even then, a lot of PC users use controllers... I don't know WHY THE FUCK you would want to in many cases, but well... We're only the master race because we have a pretty good shot of fixing whatever broken fucking shit devs are willing to ship out. But even then, that sorta makes us more of the servant class, don't you think? I mean, we're the ones having to pick up the pieces when the devs break the fuck out of a game and then refuse to patch it, or do it half assed so we gotta fix it anyway. But at least we can mod our games without having to void hardware warranties.
lordofthedread Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I personally owned most of the game console up to the PS2 (my first one was a Radiola Videopac), my first game on PC was Prince of Persia (the very first one running from a 1.44 Diskette) what does that say about me? That I am a PC gamer? That I am a console gamer? Actually to sum it up I am a gamer ...... no matter on what, if the game is good and I can afford the system on which it runs I will end up playing it, sadly I dont have many friends interested in gaming sessions anymore so the argument for multiplayer sessions in front of the TV is quite void in my case and I have way more chances to end up playing online with virtual friends. Back in the day I do remember spending whole nights playing Micro Machines v3 and Tekken 3 on PS1, sadly times goes by and you cant find the time and the friends to make such game sessions anymore. Sucks to be an adult with responsability sometimes..... I might even consider buying a PS4 when it is released, the first console I will buy since my good old PS2..... Like Gregahit said, theres good arguments on both systems but the one problem on console for me is usually the insane prices asked for the games.
lordofthedread Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Considering I've seen so many people actually COMPLAIN about local multiplayer, and people actually trying to defend talking ion headsets to their friends who live in the same area but refuse to come over because "Well, we can just play online, right?", I don't see the difference in play style... other than the input device. And even then, a lot of PC users use controllers... I don't know WHY THE FUCK you would want to in many cases, but well... I am playing Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition these days and I do bless my cheap USB PS2 like controller, so that really depends what games you play. Same with racing games, I am not found enough of them to purchase a gaming wheel so the gamepad is a reasonable choice. For me playing a FPS on a controller is mission impossible and I do think some games are just better suited to keyvboard + mouse combo while others are better suited to a good old gamepad. Most of PC gamers looking down on consoles are just jealous because they cant get their hands on some games and the other way around is also totally valid, the only thing you truly have on a PC is a better overall graphic quality when games are not made for multi support, since 80% are nowadays this argument is no longer valid and all a PC gamer will do is bitching because the game was dumbed down for consoles compatibility. Hopefully with the release of the next gen we will have games that do exploit the power of our gaming PCs...... For a while....

But at least we can mod our games without having to void hardware warranties. This is pretty much what my contention and main grip with consoles boils down to. All the other "so called" issues can be dismissed for the most part, as one persons preference over that of another. All of the Bethesda games are good examples of this. Bethesda games are notorious for having been one (or two) patch(es) short of complete. The community and overhauls are left to fix what they (bethesda) could and should have. The poor console gamer is stuck with a broken version with no legal recourse to fix it. There are lots of other games you could list out that have similar issues. Now one of the major benefits that arises from this is of course modding. When I look back over the time I have spent modding I find that I have spent far more time doing that than actually playing the game. Somewhere like 10 times more. On top of this is the extended playability of a particular game, not to mention the ability to play it the way I want to play and not being locked into how the developers wanted things. There is no real reason for the "us" against "them" attitude as most PC gamers do own consoles. I find that some games (sports, racing and so on) are far better for consoles that for PC's. Other games lend themselves better towards the PC. It all boils down to the game itself.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 The last console I bought was a PS2 (well, that's the last one by being current, since I bought a Dreamcast after the PS2), while pretty much all of my gaming has been on the PC and on handhelds (PSP and DS, both of which are now dead machines as well, production wise). I haven't found a single good reason to buy a PS3/360/Wii, short of Mega Man 9 and 10... and I refuse to buy a machine JUST for a virtual console. Sonic Generations came to the PC, so I don't need a console for it. Dragon's Crown might have been a reason to get a PS3, but that's coming for the Vita, and since I'm already buying one for Ys 4 remake, I may as well get the Vita version since I'm dropping like 400 USD on the fucking machine. SMT x Fire Emblem is literally the only console game I'm looking forward to right now, and given that it's Nintendo, I have no choice but to buy a Wii U if I want it. If it even gets localized, that is... if not, because Nintendo is being ass backwards with region locking, I'd have to import an entire fucking system and the game just to play it.
M.BISON Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 obviously the pc is superior when it comes to power and modding as a console gamer i dont have a problem with the mouse and keyboard, heard that saying "a bad tools man blames his tools"(something like that) consoles have more variety in games like.....wait i will say a game from last gen to show you how many games you miss out on playing, veiwtiful joe(gamecube+ps2) it didnt have the best graphics in the world like most console games, but it had great gameplay and story most japanese games dont come out for pc also the console as a whole has been able to introduce to the world better titles than the pc consoles are so simple and easy to use just put a disc in and you're off, want to take it to a friends house no problem(for the most part but better than pc) and you can invite friends over sit down in front of the big screen and relax
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 No, consoles WERE easy to use. Now you have mandatory installs and patches and OS updates that can corrupt your data; those simple days are LONG gone. And yes, most Japanese games aren't on PC... because Japan game makers hate the PC for some unknown reason. Which is why they're fucking ass backwards when it comes to gaming and so many of the bigger names in the industry IN JAPAN agree that they're fucking ass backwards. Except for arcades; they can keep that shit going for as long as possible, because those are dead in the US.
M.BISON Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 consoles are still easy to use iv updated had no problems maybe a small minority do? becase iv heard of no problems mandatory installs are nothing just let it do its magic and then back to gaming!!! japan has some good competive games in the arcade shame they are dead in the UK&US

First one that comes to mind is Civ 5. A quick check through steam and you'll see a lot of great titles that are not so mainstream. I been a 360 gamer since 2006 and I can testify to anyone that you din't miss much if you din't buy the console. Except for a few gems like Lost Odyssey, Microsoft's main exclusive line up was very lacking. So what does this prove? That this variety you speak of only matters if you like the games it has to offer. Right now in my Steam library I have an amazing variety from games like Skyrim, to games like Left 4 dead, to games like Dear Esther. And playing a game in my pc is a simple as clicking on the name. Don't like the mouse and keyboard? Plug in a controller. I play most of the time in my hd tv with a controller. I will admit one thing however. The only next gen console I plan on buying is a Wii U, and that's because the WiiU actually offers a plethora of games you can't find anywhere else. I have yet to find a game that utilizes the Zelda formula successfully in a console that isn't Nintendo.

You just said that consoles are as simple as putting the disc and play. If you have to do an install then -slams desk- THEN THERE REALLY IS NO MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PC AND CONSOLE!
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 It's only a matter of time before the console and PC merges. It might not happen this coming gen, but it'll happen...
