If I remember correctly, you need to make sure you are not wearing restraints (keeping your hands free should be enough I think?), as they prevent you from interacting with the pot. 1
Miishan Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 (edited) Hi, thanks for this great mod! I am stuck in Irkala's bedroom, after she unlocked me from the cross to let us go eat. She asks me to follow her, but she just stands here. I am able to move, but after several seconds she starts to attack me. The only action I can do is to speak to her, where she responds "Please, let us go sit and eat", but stays here anyway. Also putting on Heavy Iron Handcuffs still causes CTD on my (now second) installation. Previously I was able to overcome this by turning off the physics completely. Edited April 10, 2025 by Miishan
Jim55 Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 (edited) Sorry @Frayed Spoiler OK. So, fresh game, played it from the start, attempting to give it the best chance I could, this time knowing what to expect. These are my issues (and possible fixes) Wall of text incoming. I managed to make the forum editor tweak so I will use an indent to signify quoting IF YOU CARE ABOUT SPOILERS, GO AWAY. * before even starting, the invitation was never received. Known Skyrim issue. To bypass it, after travelling avert level 9, do this: Console Prid 00039FB7 Moveto player Courier is brought to you and starts heading back. Talk to him. He will dump everything he has in queue and leave. If he has nothing, he has nothing. * go to the inn, take the correct dialogue, drink the bed, activate the wine, screen goes black and never comes back. Forum credit, this happens if you have a lot of items. Dump most of your shift. DO NOT DUMP ALL. Keep one set of decent armor and one decent weapon. You'll know why. * BEFORE drinking the wine, DO A HARD SAVE. Game saves as it teleports you to the dungeon, and if you load from there/die /crash, the script that slowly fades you in never executes, therefore that save is nuked. I strongly recommend you download and use an autosave mod. It's a bit of a hassle to do, but man you want one with checkpoints. * NEVER ever load during a segment. You'll know what a segment is, approximately. If it unlocks a new area, it's a new segment. There aren't many. Saving and loading are major issues here. * Start room one. A snare. Do the armbinder. Key drops, etc etc. Save and reload. If you load during this episode, the key no longer fits the lock. When stuck to the wall and the hood is selected, it says "The key doesn't fit that device's locks" If this happens to you, the best way is to load the checkpoint save and speedrun this. Speedrun hint: you can use Devious Devices MCM to adjust your own brightness when blindfolded. What you set for short periods outside might give you a headache in a dungeon with flickering lights looking for a key that doesn't exist, I f*ing swear. * Walkthrough exists and has videos. This is not a complaint. These aren't all complaints. * This time I decided to continue straight though to the next section, unlike last time. Plus side, no more finding the hut. Minus, game panicked and as I was into the second quest cutscene and Irkalla was talking to my spread, I started receiving notifications that keys were out of bounds. It eventually stopped. * Act 2 starts, works well for a while. I decide to go as much as possible without loading. I will not make it to the end. Previous bugs no longer manifested themselves. Jim > Maybe I'm wrong, but the laboratory hinted that I should have no stolen items in my inventory and have drunk the potion (clear mind and light fingers or smth), in reality it likes straightjackets. Frayed >> "Lab door literally says "keep your hands to yourself" and mentions Walker, who has a straitjacket in her hut." I didn't say anything because my memory was fuzzy. But what it says is: This makes sense only if you are the one who wrote it, sorry, Frayed. No mention of Walker (I have looked) and while it does say "keep your hands off" it seems to be a generic warning. The "hint" is the part that is tacked on. "Quick fingers (stolen items) and fragile minds (a reference to weakened mind state and needing to drink the potion you make in that room to progress). Now. If you made the mod, you know that you need the potion to progress ON THE OTHER DOOR. But I have no way of knowing this. All I know is it hates thieves and needs a strong mind. I have stolen items and a mind strength potion. And yes I am bitter about it because I dumped all my stuff again so I can get electrocuted. I FORGOT ok? It's been almost a year. * This next part hummed along well. I remembered where the god damn recipe was (I will probably die remembering), I have collected all the things to make the potion, but it didn't work. I remember hitting this before. If you can't make the potion because you can't interact with the pot, IT IS THE WRONG POT. Because SOMEONE put a giant CAULDRON that GLOWS YELLOW and then made the recipe work on the innocuous pot over a fire. The fire light up the cauldron making it pulse yellow. Sir, I'm a Frayed this is low. * Anyway, cover the gargoyles, hum along, talk to Walker, Irkalla comes back, oh no, hide. On my way back to my hole, I realize that the door to the cell has reset. It has done that before, I didn't think it mattered. Well, it mattered when I was NPC controlled and it walked into the closed door. After quite a while of smooshing its face into the bars, I used a console command to door it. It's possible I NPC teleport in after a while, but it kills the "quick!" vibe. * Irkalla comes back, all is well. My companion spawns in. So, not a fluke, at the exact same point, she spawns in. This time, I was ready and disabled her. No issues. * I am taken back to her girlcave (giggity) and she does the thing. All is well. Except she seems to stoke a strapon. I dismissed it the last time, because I was used to forcing girl on girl animation, but, she is canonically a girl, so... why is she stroking a plastic bit and moaning? Animation for girl alone exists. To quote a Hollywood star, Weird, weird. * I am invited to eat. Like everything in there, it's property of Irkalla. In a weird attempt to roleplay and give her a sense of security, I grab a bite. I immediately get her jumping up, yelling thief and electrocuting me. I had to console my way through, calming her, paying my bounty. Eventually, she idled and going back up on my own triggered her to stop me and continue the thing. * After sleeping and sneaking around in the bedroom, I am watched (eye simbol). Whenever I pick things up, she wakes up, talks to the air saying to stop this, little girl, do you know who I am and goes back to sleep. Bit surreal. I shall assume limitations and keep moving. * After this, guided by walkthrough, all was well. Please add some text that says "place your shoes and robes on the table" in Trial one. Busy finding the potion and doing the things, I forgot. I tried putting the ebony shoes there for quite a while. Admittedly just me being a moron, but do remember loading nukes the mod. * At this point, I had to load. For some reason (the reason is me) a mod triggered and equipped some stuff on me and I used a remove command and didn;t realize that it didn't unequip. It removed. Oops. No way of continuing this mess. After reloading, things went ... not so good. * Opening the door mentioned above, with the STOLEN ITEMS (I can not goddamn believe I did this twice I must be getting old, damn laboratory), I equipped the straight jacket, the barrier was gone, but it said I needed a key. I checked the walkthrough, and it claimed I needed "Intricate Heavy Key" which I had. I decided it's the first bug again and consoled the door to be unlocked, thinking it would be the least of my issues. * Dear God, the forging. * Pick up Fork. Hold over forge. After a short while, it dematerialized and reappeared on the table. Good signs all around. Fork is not Fork (heated) Hold heated fork over the blood bath. (By the way, click the button, takes the blood, nothing grows in the bath. I think i remember it filling last time around? maybe i'm crazy) Fork makes quenching sounds. Repeatedly. Stays (heated). Damn. Console me a Fork (attuned) Hold the attuned fork, dip it in the fountain, makes splish sounds, doesn't change. Well, i tried. Console me a final form fork. Try to explode the gems. Literally a crapshoot, as you cannot, legally, in my game, lift a thing over horizontal bars. It tries to bring it closer. Anyway, I think I get it, the fork flies into the gravity well of Jupiter, console another one, the first one lands. I think it has to do with my speed buffs. Whatever. It's done. * Take the sword, do the trials. Cool. * Find the third God party of the little adventure. Agree to things. Go on to do puzzles with staves. All is well, minus, of course, me missing a staff and consoling it in. It was there, I saw it on my way back, I'm just blind. * Recover your gear. Oh-oh. I ... I came here naked. All I have is a staff of flames doing 8 damage. I think it says Bic on the side. * Final battle. Man, triple f*** gargoyles. Several times I had to load, passing through areas, because they just equip things that really, really shouldn't be there. Some are unavoidable and randomly equipping things makes you want to reload. And reload nukes the game. How many times do I stouggle out of a petsuit before I lose the will to live. Several reloads means that I am in an inconsistent state, gear-wise. I decide to console through the final door, despite the Daedra saying I wasn't ready. Console through the door, walk through the maze, get to final battle. Irkalla expected a battle and I have a Bic and a loincloth. I had to console me a weapon. Win. Help irkalla Help Slab Run back. This time I didn't hop around like a maniac and DID hit Boethia's trigger. So this is why people miss it. It's on a staircase people can hop over. Or at least that's where it appeared to me. Props for unlocking it, I had NO dragon souls. Which is why I was naked, I stopped to strip before the battle thinking I didn't have a shout. This time I knew that the pillars were taking damage despite no feedback. Feedback please? They crack before collapsing. Make them crack after the first hit. Run back. Irkalla makes it, Slab doesn't. I wait. Nothing. Console Slab back out, he does the animation, punches Irkalla, leaves in a huff. Aaaaand game ends. Slab is gone. Irkalla is idle. Doors are still locked. I decide to not do this again, I take my new, console-smelling crossbow and add a belly piercing to Irkalla. This time, the quest ends. Doors unlock. A second quest pops up to release the Dremora. I do so, he fricks off. AAAaand that's it. I don't know where Slab is. Dremora is gone. Walker is still hanging out in the garden, old dialogue still there. Irkalla is dead. No exit is pointed. Setting another quest doesn't produce a marker. Map has no markers. No teleporting out. Luckily, I have already stumbled upon the exit. Unluckly, the exit is in a bandit cave with 6 bandits and a boss and I am wearing a fig leaf. Console time again. So. Differences from my previous feedback: * The interact thing is my fault. The hard bondage was default off. I set it to on, it's on me. * Collapsing pillars was way easier to do with a decent weapon. I suggest cracking it at first hit, to give player feedback to insist. I was convinced that only a small section was vulnerable because hitting it in other places did nothing. Testing this, columns do take damage correctly. It just has no feedback for 3-4 god tier crossbow bolts. If all I had was the Bic, I'd be convinced it's stuck. Miscellaneous feedback: The storage area in the arcaneum is useless. Unless it has a purpose, I suggest walling it off and moving the 2 items back in the main area for now. I didn't want to do a response to to your post since it's basically embedded in the wall, but It's likely that the fork issue is a save/load thing. The key not fitting is definitely a load thing. Suggestions: * Since the black screen bug is made by many items and the follower bug is game breaking, may I suggest the following change to the story and setup: Irkalla sends you a message, saying you are the coolest dragonborn ever and that she's hot in the middle. She attaches a bottle, an image and the note in a package and leaves it for the receptionist. You go there, see the image, decide she's hot, you're horny, or likely both and you're bagging yourself a groupie. The bartender goes "well, I can rent you a room, but surely you're not going to go on a date with a companion, that'd be weird. Dismiss them pls" After this, she checks and if pass, she goes "you're not going on a date carrying everything, you sound like a sack of pans. Leave your stuff in the chest over there, it'll be safe. Just get your best armor and a decent weapon just in case" After this, if the check is passed, she goes "Cool, here's your room, enjoy your drink". You drink and collapse, resume mod as-is. Alternately, you can strip the player before starting the mod, to avoid the black screen thing. And put everything in a case at the end. * No seriously, the door hints are terrible. * I suggest breaking the mod into sections for the purpose of loading. For example, nothing in the arcaneum needs to leave. Except for the suit I think. Move the suit out, and when leaving the arcaneum, strip the player of restraints and stolen ingredients. Door may possibly lock you out. Move the entrance to the laboratory in the main area. You see what I'm saying. Loading inside an area makes it unstable. For example. Save outside the Boethia shrine, then go into trial one. Works fine. Save after Trial 1 starts. Load. Weirdness ensues. Items are mildly moved. Some triggers don't work. Actors don't play. This happens, hopefully a bug. I can't fit in there. Snark section: > Frayed "Keys are named with a theme that correspond to the devices they open. With the risk of sounding somewhat snarky: I don't think it's too unreasonable to ask a player to remember certain things in a puzzle mod. Gathering devious devices, avoiding getting locked into them and figuring out and obtaining ways to get out of them is part of the core gameplay of this mod." Themed, eh? Ok, mr Snark. You are in a room, with furniture. Adjacent to you is another room, with water in it. At the bottom of this water is a lockbox. A water box. You find a key. It has a small fish on it. What would a user think it opens? That's right, a glass case that allows a knife to cut a gag. Yes, yes, animal themed, I get it. But without knowing any of this, since player is progressing, would it be unreasonable to think that specific, "black bear" key would be linked to something black? Or beary? Other games do this too, like RE, but they have geometric shapes in geometric doors. They aren't called, "hall shaped key" and open a chastity cage. Yes i'm being pedantic, I'm tired and a bit frustrated. End snark section. Overall, this time around, it went a lot more smoothly. Most of the things that gave me headaches were bugs. I understand gargoyles are supposed to be off or at least coverable, that's fine, Irkalla is supposed to have an ending, that's fine, I assume more stuff happens. I would appreciate a teleport back when done. Speaking of bugs. SOMEHOW, my collar got duplicated. Didn't really matter, since it wasn't equipped. Game ends. I let Irkalla live. I try to walk out. Gargoyled. Guess what it equipped. That's a reload. Sometimes Irkalla makes you walk and it's through gargoyles. One covers the "float up" lift so you eat it after the game ends, no matter what. And finally, nyah nyah nyah Edited April 10, 2025 by Jim55

ZephyrusVenti Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 So I was seeing that people were able to get this mod to work with Unforgiving Devices, and I gotta ask...how? Stuck in the first room with the armbinder because of a "can't set last opened device" error. tried summoning in a container so I could get to the armbinder in an inventory, but that didn't work either. Just cloned the armbinder - couldn't get the UD action menu or even the base DD menu for struggling to pop up.

Been messing with the scripts to try to fix this same problem for a day and a half, glad to at least see it's not just me. The UD patcher doesn't patch the armbinder since it has a different script than normal, the UD button won't work (same error you get), and I can't access the inventory to try to remove it because you're supposed to use the UD button. If I figure something out I'll post here, in the meantime I hope someone else knows what to do.

As I stated in my wall of text (no worries it's not required reading) I have experienced the black screen issue after the game has loaded the cell. Another reload was because I couldn't find the key in the first room. I know it was probably there, I just couldn't find it and the load was right there. Another issue is that I have other mods. I turned them off before playing this, but I forgot some and they have a chance of equipping stuff (DCL/DEC) and similar. Sometimes I just run off a ledge and decide *f-it*. I think the alchemy lab thing was because I managed to nuke the straightjacket somehow. > Also how are you doing it? Just going straight from in game to loading? Mostly, yes. I have seen this, however, it's rare for me. Whereas loading THIS MOD and only this mod makes things weird. There's understandable issues, like, for example, an object reverts to its original place after being knocked, objects drop and flip out, stuff like that. I mean you tell me. https://streamable.com/xgnbfc . I am open to being told off. Is this what I was supposed to do? (note for the future - streamable links evaporate within like a week. I'll see if I can replicate the key fail though. Some reloads are fine. Like I said, if you save then load and start a trial, the trial map loads correctly. If you save and load in the same segment, it goes nuts. And I have a lot of mods. Only this one is iffy. Fresh save BTW. For example, load > first trial I spawn behind Irkalla and follow her. Trial > save/load immediately after the trial starts and I clip into Irkalla. A minor bug, to be sure. But there's differences. Updated Edit: [...] I have saved and loaded the game after removing the armbinder. I have tried it before identifying the key as a key, and after. Experienced no issues with unlocking hood. I was basically unable to play TTOF without some conflict between the two mods, even with DCL disabled, and at the end of the day I decided I enjoyed TTOF more than DCL. And not that I disbelieve you having these issues, it's just I think it is more of a load order compatibility / general philosophy disagreement with the type of mod than TTOF being unplayable. For example, you can completely get around constantly running into gargoyles, by simply covering then up at the right times. Takes some extra time and may not be what you *want* to do, but considering the alternatives... TTOF is definitely not without flaws or bugs though. It's just unfortunate that so many of them appear to happen to you at the same time. But it sounds like your load order is quite script heavy and TTOF does not seem to play nice with heavy script conflict. 48 minutes ago, arbiter said: Spoiler You likely also want to untick Unforgiving Swimming when you get to part 2.
aeter Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 Wonderful mod! I daresay the best integration of DD into gameplay. The first quest in particular I thought was great but the Gordian Bind had many creative and ambitious ideas also. I was truly sad when I reached the end and the characters turned into NPCS with nothing more to say.

I can turn them off and they work, but not if you forget one on. Or if you don't know the conflict. I THINK that DCL has a "pause when on a quest" and there is a silent agreements on everyone who supports DCL that they should not trigger during quests. Is it possible TToF can mark the whole thing as "on a quest"? That would mitigate most of not all DCL-like interference.

Jim55 Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 By the way, on my last save, the blessing of Boethia was quite helpful in getting me out of jams. Since it has already set the available time you can mess with that as well though that might not be as straightforward as setting something to less than 8.0 show FrayEQ2NextBoethiahsLiberationAvailableTime I don't know if GetRealHoursPassed is a float but I think it is, so you'll have to figure out the proper time to subtract from it. I read this right before bed and then had a dream that I unticked it and it didn't work and my PC kept drowning in Skyrim. 14 hours ago, ZephyrusVenti said: Oh cool, I'll take a look and see if that works out for me too! If it does, ngl, I will feel ever so slightly foolish that what I was looking for was legit just in a menu the entire time, lol. Thanks for your help! Yup I felt like a chump, going through and logging stuff trying to figure out if I'd borked my UD install or something. I was thankful that you said you had the same problem, it saved my sanity, and I came upon the fix accidentally while tryna figure it out without changing scripts

In one of the quest fragments you can find the lines: [...] Thanks for the detailed response, it didn't work like that in previous save. I don't know how or why. Maybe I missed a trigger, or maybe it was linked to leaving the quest open. It waited for like 1-2 hours in-game. I used it quite a bit to get out of weird binds, when testing. Honestly, one of the reasons I play TToF every game is because of the reward power. This is disappointing to find out. Adding the left items in inventory, left open quests and the reward being (IMO) useless, I guess I'm moving TToF into a different character and replay it there.

It's set to 2/8 in the epilogue, and there are two separate scripts that either use normal or long (2 or 8 hours). Not sure when the normal one applies. During the quest it's much shorter: ; Make the shout available even if it's on cooldown. Make its cooldown short during the finale. FrayEQ2NextBoethiahsLiberationAvailableTime.SetValue(0.0) FrayEQ2BoethiahsLiberationCooldownInHours.SetValue(30.0 / 3600.0) FrayEQ2BoethiahsLiberationLongCooldownInHours.SetValue(120.0 / 3600.0) You can always just set it back to those amounts yourself since they're global variables and easily accessible. Meskor123 Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 Greetings, I wanted to kindly ask if there is any bad endings where the collar finishes brainwashing you ? I tried waiting around in Irkalla's bedroom during the Gordian Bind but sadly nothing.
Gav1in Posted April 20, 2025 Posted April 20, 2025 Playing as an Argonian and hoods dont use the right model when equipped any fix or is it intended?
Mordred013 Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 So i saw a few people mention this, but never saw a way to fix it, i'm stuck in the chair after Boethia gives me the lock pick, and irkalla is just standing there. I'm playing the NEferam modpack, which i guess might be a cause of the issue. anyone have any fixes? 2
