How long do you set your sim lifespans?

I'm just curious. How long do you like your sims to live? If you use MCCC, how many days do you set each phase of life to be? Personally, I like playing longer lifespans and just manually aging up my sims as I see fit, but I'm curious to see how others go about it.

I've also been thinking about trying shorter lifespans to have more generations and lineages. Anyone have a good setup?

I've gone in the opposite direction as I have aging disabled in the game settings and game culling disabled with MCCC.

I just prefer to keep the originals like Bella Goth and Nancy Landgraab alive in my game.

Get plenty of new Sims with breeding and then age them up manually.

Bella has children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for example but she is still alive.

Just depends on what you want to experiment with to see what you like best.

I just don't like seeing all the original classic sims dying off myself personally.

To never die. I added a few sims which do not look like the typical Maxis sims. I'd like to keep these sims in the game. Of course the list of sims which know each other may get very long and could cause issues, but this seems to be better than to have too much Maxis-style sims in the game.

There's really only one Bella Goth so we must keep here alive forever.

I usually play with long lifespan. Whenever I attempt multiple generations, though, I prefer it set to normal, as I tend to get bored with a long lifespan.

And at times, I even turn off aging completely.

Depends on what I'm doing.

What is game culling ? Do I need to do this too??!!???

Same here!! No one in my game ages!  However I do kill a lot of NPCs so not everyone sticks around really.... Sometimes I accidentally have a sim die and if they are important enough I bring them back too lol. I age them up as I see fit but have never aged anyone up to old yet xD But I create my sims and make everyone unique and fully modded and custom which takes a LONG time so it only makes sense that they stick around. What sucks about modding your sims is sometimes the babies are ugly as fuck naturally, lol but no biggie I just mod them too ?

The game will occasionally make non played sims in game vanish.

But I don't know if turning the games aging off disables it or not as there is no separate game settings for culling.

This is where MCCC comes in handy so I just use that to disable culling and I don't need to worry about my favorite Sims being deleted.

If you've ever lost any sims or they just vanished there's a good chance they were culled.

BTW I also have Emotional Deaths disabled, in the MCCC Tuner menu I think.

I have well over 100 custom sims saved to my Library to be used instead of EA's random fugly sims.

MCCC settings will import my CC sims rather than EA randoms if/when needed.

Yes babies are ugly but I age them up right away into Teens normally to see if they are worth keeping.

My male sim will go on a breeding spree with females in game and sometimes the Teens turn out quite unique but it's pretty rare.

Ugly offspring and sometimes just plain/average ones often get deleted as I have so many now I only want to keep the unique looking sims.

I only enable the WW Pregnancy setting when I want to make new sims but otherwise it's always disabled.

Don't allow any other males to breed either as I'm trying for a more controlled base with one male player sim.

All my offspring are born females per MCCC settings as I'm not looking for any unique males to save since I'm not into guys, lol.

I also use NPCC(Patreon) to prevent the game from adding 200 more useless sims into my games.

And I have the 'move in homeless' game setting disabled as I'd rather place specific sims into homes I choose to.

MCCC also has a setting for this in the Population > Move In menu which I also have set to 0.

This makes complete sense! thank you I will do the same thing. Yeah I dont want random sims being born either and I want divers blood lines. I was wondering if my male sims were breeding with random NPCs and they are. So I will just kill them off and enact these settings. Is there a way to remove dead babies from the family tree?? Thanks for your help

I always set my Sim lifespan to 'Long' as aging up to quickly is unnatural and you don't get any time to level skills to any degree. Trying to fulfill your Sims 'aspiration' requirements on a short lifespan is...simply stressful!

I set mine to long as I typically play rotationally and on the normal life span I have townies dying off constantly since I don't use aging off for unplayed sims. But now it takes forever for my played sims to age so I manually do it when I think it's time

When ghosts I don't want show up in my Relationship Panel I click on them and select MCCC > Sim Commands > Maintain Sim > Delete.

(You can also do this with any unwanted sim you see in game in live mode).

(Always use the Delete command rather than Kill so there won't be any leftovers).

And/Or use the Manage Worlds > Manage Households Menu to bulk delete all your unwanted sims in game using the X.

A few different ways to prevent other NPC-NPC pregnancies when you enable the WW Pregnancy Settings temporarily...

(If using the MCCC Woohoo module make sure Pregnancies are disabled so only WW controls them).

1. Make sure there aren't any other Sims on the lot besides the 2 Sims you want to breed.

2. Disable Wicked Autonomy and use Manual Mode when breeding specific Sim pairs.

3. Shift + Click on NPC Sim and Select Wicked > Sex > Disable for Autonomy.

4. Wicked Settings > Sex Settings > Autonomy Settings > Autonomy Specifics: NPC Sims Relationship Modifier: (set to -15.0 and NPC-NPC random autonomy pretty much stops)

(They will usually need to have a maxed romantic relationship with another sim to use autonomous sex)

I usually leave the life span setting alone. Unless I'm playing vampires, I usually use either Zero_RoM_PotionRework_OfRejuvenation_RealYouth ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/51964026 )  This works like the potion of Youth from the Sims 3 chemistry bench and sets the age of the sim drinking it back to Young Adult. Zero also has the Zero_RoM_PotionRework_OfImmortality_TrueImmortal mod which stops a sim from dying at all, and stops a sim from aging. So, if the sim is a teen, then they stay a teen forever.

Before there were "spell casters", there was the Triplis "Become a Sorcerer" mod. Sorcerers are different than spell casters, and they have a spells under reality arts that stop aging, can give you fame and even put a stopper on death. https://triplis.github.io/mods/sorcerer.html

Why? Because randomly generated sims are, as in prior sim games, terrible! Also EA has some wrong ideas about genetics, and I put a lot of effort into making sims who are characters where the clothes fit their personality.

I set the lifespans to longest, not that it matters for my main Sims who tend to be vampires or robots anyway. Their friends, significant others, work colleagues and the like are regularly cycled out this way, keeping the faces fresh without forcing me to re-do main Sims every generation.

Any favorite deceased characters can be kept around as ghosts (by intentionally visiting misfortune upon them in their prime, something made a lot easier with the Adventures add-on).
